I am writing this review to warn others — not to seek compensation.
My stay at the Radisson RED Madrid was a complete failure and far below what one should reasonably expect from a 4-star hotel.
To begin with, the communication from staff was inaccurate and misleading. I was not offered a room change “yesterday and today” as claimed. The first real and actionable offer only came the evening before my check-out, at around 7 PM — far too late to be meaningful and completely ineffective in resolving the situation.
The main issue — a defective heater — was never properly fixed. It produced a loud, tractor-like noise that made it impossible to rest. Despite multiple interventions, nothing was resolved. The only workaround suggested was to turn it off during the night, which resulted in waking up freezing at 5 AM. This is not a solution; it is a clear failure to address a basic comfort issue.
As a result, the room constantly alternated between being unbearably hot (like a sauna) and freezing cold. I had to attend an important meeting in a state of exhaustion due to lack of sleep, which is simply unacceptable.
The condition of the room itself was equally concerning. The carpet was visibly filthy — almost black with dirt — and the walls were also in poor condition. The room felt overcrowded with furniture, making it cramped and uncomfortable. I also strongly suspect that the balcony is included in the advertised square meters, which significantly reduces the actual usable space and creates a misleading impression when booking.
Service was consistently disappointing. Staff appeared unwelcoming, disengaged, and unwilling to help. There was no sense of hospitality or effort to improve the situation. Even very basic details were neglected: water carafes were left empty and never refilled.
There is no room service available, and no meaningful alternative or support offered, which is difficult to reconcile with a 4-star positioning.
It is a very well presented property. The décor of the reception, lift area, and nearby bar are really inviting. The room was very well equipped, clean and comfortable. The restaurant was superb with excellent food and wine. The hotel is walking distance to bars, restaurants, metros, taxis, tour bus stops and a beautiful park.
