Maldron Hotel Portlaoise

We had a nice one night stay at this hotel. We had dinner, B&B and a game of bowling included in our stay and everything was very nice. The only downside to our stay was the swimming pool. There was one worker in particular made us feel very uncomfortable by staring at us and passing remarks when he walked past us. I dont know his name but he was a shaved/ bald head guy and for this reason I won't stay here again as we like swimming pool when we go away for a night. For example my daughter was in the swimming pool in the lane swimming lengths. This worker that we described already asked her what her age was as myself and my husband were in the baby pool with out youngest child. My daughter told this worker she was 16. My daughter a little while later got out of the swimming pool to get into the jacuzzi which was freezing 🥶 by the way. He started blowing the whistle at her after she already tell him she was 16. He kept blowing the whistle which made her very uncomfortable. I even said to him she is 16. A few minutes later while she was still in the jacuzzi he walked passed with another worker and said to him she is yeah 16 about my Daughter. He then went into the reception but kept staring out at all of us. We then went into the dressing rooms. To get ready showers were cold and not great at all. But we managed. While my husband was getting dressed this same guy that we mentioned already was in the dressing room with a hose very close spray water. This made my husband and son very uncomfortable. This guy had no manner at all.

Tomasz the waiter was extremely nice to me and help me pick a desert it was the best desert and the best experience I've ever had

Location great, lovely warm atmosphere, rooms spotless and comfortable, excellent value. Staff, from reception to bar and restaurant, are very obliging, polite and welcoming. Our waiter was Thomas, and he was very pleasant. Excellent service all round.

This was a nice hotel attached to a small eating court and food shop. Very convenient for travelers who have tight budgets or time constraints. They had good security. Lighting in the room was poor, and due to a broken latch on a window,we were given a small space heater to use. The room was spacious, and there was a luggage rack and water bottles. Pricing was fair.

Parking & location good. Noise level and lack of noise dampening efforts is abysmal. Rooms don’t get cleaned - they make beds & empty what fits in the bin but nothing beyond that. If you order room service you better throw your dishes in the hallway or you’ll stare at them for your stay in your room.
As guests staying for 10 nights it was disgusting to not have the floors swept nor vacuumed & room counters not cleaned for the whole stay (we had to switch rooms so yay for us we got a clean room midway). Yuck, otherwise. Putting vacation guests in adjoining rooms with highway/construction workers who wake up at 0600hrs rather than with vacation guests that have booked together is just stupidity at best. Was the lowlight of our vacation & wouldn’t recommend. Avoid unless you’re maybe stopping in for one night for rest if you’re actually on a vacation especially if you’re used to N. American standards including MX mid range AI. Otherwise - a crap motel with a decor refresh. Bonus, if you have allergies to perfume/cologne, avoid this place… you’d choke upon entry and every time you come and go as front desk is competing with the duty free for unbreathable air.

A lovely stay and would definitely stay again. Staff were honestly brill. Couldn't fault them. Had a lovely swim. Great breakfast. Lovely room. Got a taxi into Portlaoise for a lovely dinner and a few drinks.

Could not have been a less warm welcome from a chap visibly annoyed that we'd interrupted his phone scrolling. No information given, had to ask where breakfast would be (his tone suggested that was entirely obvious "in the restaurant")...

Signage not on walls, sparse cold reception, dirty stairs, the handrail was disgusting... and this looks to be a relatively new hotel too. Room was fine, clean and comfortable but beware of the heating clunking in from around 5am.... if you want a couldn't care less hotel then this is the place to stay.

We won't be staying again and frankly it's put us off Maldron altogether as a previously frequent guest on our very frequent teips to Ireland.

Checked in 30th.Srptember Fantastic friendly welcome. Had Advised colleague celebrating big birthday. Upgraded room . Provided card ,cake and chocolates. Visited restaurant. Very welcoming Daragh, Mary and Sofia. Fantastic friendly and engaging trio. Fab food. We mentioned birthday and brought a desert and candle. Overall, possibly best experience in a hotel to date. I come to Portlaoise regularly and this is my place to stay from now on. Room so comfortable and spacious. Highly recommend Maldron Portlaoise.

I couldn’t say anything but wonderful things about my stay in the Maldron. The hotel caters for every need but the real gem in this hotel is the staff. They are just outstanding! Darragh greeted us with such a wonderful welcome and great banter. He was a joy! Mary and Sofia were also so friendly, helpful and made our experience so enjoyable!

Lovely dinner, we had a lovely waiter called Jamie. He was very accommodating.
Breakfast was nice, but the food was not accessible, it was very hard to reach

Can’t speak highly enough of this hotel and the amazing staff! We arrived early due to a wedding and being checked in early was no issue, hotel very comfortable with a lovely breakfast! The reception staff (Darragh and Josh) were just so friendly and helpful and went out of their way to help us and make us feel so welcome and Kate was fantastic on service aswell! Just a brilliant experience and really can’t say enough nice things the staff are all brilliant

We love maldrons and came to portloaise for a wedding, but the staff here were incredible! Josh went out of his way to help us upon arrival and we had great service from Darragh and Kate as well. We couldn’t believe how helpful and friendly everyone was. Breakfast was also 10/10! Thanks for a great stay!

They were doing some renovations in the hallways so that was a bit messy. On the flip side, its nice that they are doing renovations. The room was a good size, clean, and comfortable. We never did get a chance to use the pool.

We met a lovely young man, Daragh.
I’d a drink made incorrectly, he sorted immediately. Extremely helpful and polite.
Wonderful customer service manner.

This is my second time here this month, this time it was a mother and daughter spa night away. Daragh in the restaurant was the best, he fixed the T.V in the room, but was a very attentive waiter while we had dinner and drinks. Thank you for a lovely stay again
