Chocolate Express Hotel & Suites Hershey

When we arrived the hotel was shut down due to an inspection of the building. Apparently they need do do repairs and could be open until the repairs were made.

I booked this hotel for one of my athletic teams for the state championships. The immediate red flag should have been the difficulty in getting ahold of anyone at the front desk. Often the calls would go unanswered. When I did finally get through to someone (who spoke very broken English), I requested a credit card authorization form and was told "they didn't have one." I said that was impossible, all hotels have one, the gentlemen got incredibly rude with me and hung up.

Upon arriving for their stay, my coaches and athletes were given rooms that were less than satisfactory in terms of quality and cleanliness. The hotel didn't even have a functional ice machine.

After the first night of their 3 night stay, they were contacted to say the hotel was being shut down due to "safety concerns" and that they must vacate immediately.

There was no assistance offered in finding an alternative location, they were just told to get out.

There could not be a worst experience imaginable. Even if this hotel ever reopens, I do not recommend booking here ever!

Bathroom had broken switch plates, broken woodwork, & broken tiles.
The furniture looked like dogs gnawed at it & after one night, they told us the hotel was being shut down because the Sprinkler System was defective.
On the positive side, they did find us another hotel!

The indoor pool is seasonal?????Never heard of that. No one around to answer questions. Needs lots of repairs. Bed was ok. Breakfast was the least amount I ever experienced. We didn’t eat at hotel. There were only a few staying with us the first night and Saturday night we were the only ones in the building, not even sure the person in charge stayed the whole night. Very creepy!!!

It was just a normal hotel, they’ve done a lot of work, but have not done the final touches. Everything was kind of messy and discombobulated but overall it was quiet the queen size bed seem more like a full.

Very nice. I went mid week in December. We were the only guest so I didn’t expect them to lay out the continental breakfast that I thought when I booked would be included but I would’ve appreciated a fresh pot of coffee in the lobby. Yes, they had one of those single coffee makers in the room with powdered creamer, but I don’t like that.

live and dead roaches in the room, outlets hanging out of the wall with extension cords plugged into them, the power cord for the bathtub was plugged into the extension cord that was plugged into an outlet hanging out of the wall. very unsafe, no management on site, no refunds offered for such dirty conditions.

As a woman, traveling solo can sometimes feel unsafe. I have no fear in traveling to far away places but I do look at hotels and the security it offers within the room. I felt safe and the room was clean, bed was comfortable and pillows offered many different options. Will be staying here again in my future travels to Hershey, PA.

Needs updated. Pull out couch/bed was horrible!

We really enjoyed our stay, very convenient to Hershey park. The owner was extremely nice and went up and beyond to help us.

It was clean, quiet, had upgraded bathroom,basic breakfast, friendly staff. Close to Hersheypark.I would stay there again.

The hotel uses fake pictures as the advertisement. You have to really look into this place on google to see how it looks. When i pulled up it felt like i got into a run down neighborhood. I cut my losses and let them keep my 2 night stay and we went somewhere else for the night. Hotels customer service called to try to get me a refund and they said the guy was super rude and yelling at her for even asking. Im going to assume this happens alot...if you are looking for a decent stay in Hershey DO NOT choose this place. You will be disgusted and it will be a waste of your money.

Indoor pool closed on labor day that kind of defeats the purpose of a INDOOR pool. Tea bags for breakfast but no hot water. Otherwise it was fine. No bed bugs or roaches like the other reviews said.

The whole room was humid, even with the air on, so everything including the sheets were damp. There was a bit of a smell in the room. The wallpaper in places was held on with duct tape. The comforter had stains on it. Overall, if you can afford to, find somewhere else to stay.

Overall a good property. The soap in shower issue was perplexing. Tubs seem a bit old but overall a great place to stay in Hershey very much recommended

Room was very clean, bed was comfortable and AC and mini fridge worked fine. There were plenty of places to sit (other than on the bed) - two chairs and a desk with a chair and put bags and luggage. My room was quiet (I could hear the occasional closing of the stairwell door, but my room was right next to the stairwell and elevator) and the window had blackout shades.
Check in was fast and easy, and parking was good. Only drawback was that the shower head where it comes out of the wall had a leak and the water pressure wasn't what it should have been.

Good service when needeed batteries for TV wand and for the jacuzzi

Friendly environment. Very clean and quiet. Lots to do in the area.
