We loved the decor and the big rooms and fridge. The hotel interior was great really quirky and interesting, the staff were helpful, we loved the pool and swim up bar.
We booked this hotel because of the gym, when we asked at reception what time the gym opened he told us 9am, we got there at 12.45 and after 15 minutes we were kicked out due to it closing at 1pm! This was never mentioned when we asked the time and we would have gone earlier; it was really disappointing as we wanted to use the gym and we got 10 minutes!
Great hotel and location and pool, check gym times carefully
The rooms were clean and air conditioned. This staff was pleasant. The only problem was the shower water was barely heated.
A nice place, clean & comfortable. The breakfast staff, Marine and Kenneth were wonderful, friendly & attentive, the reception desk not so much. Dylan and Carlos at the bar were also wonderful. A lot of road noise and not convenient if you’d want to walk anywhere.
I stayed at Wyndham Herradura because I am a rewards member, and try and stay at Wyndham's when I travel. I needed to stay overnight to get an early, early morning flight, and this worked fine. Thank you!
Wyndham at San Jose Herradura Hotel was a great place. Beautiful hotel. Very friendly workers.
Very clean smells great as soon as you walk in. Must vist the Coffee Bar... Very good Coffee/ Cafe.
Pura Vida.
We stayed at the Wyndham for three nights at the end of a wonderful trip to Costa Rica. I would rate it 2.5 if I could - not poor but not average. I guess I would use the term disappointedly adequate. The staff were generally kind, although not always able to be helpful, and the bed was comfortable and bathrooms clean, but those are about the only positive things I can say. We were told we had been upgraded when we arrived, but I think we were simply moved to a ridiculously big room (two dining room tables and lots of unusable counter space - I think it was a room for meetings) because someone else complained about it. When we tried to downgrade to our original room style, we were told the they were full. Unfortunately, the hotel is old and dated and our room had stained, buckling carpets and stained couches. Neither of the bathroom showers worked- one filled immediately with water because the drain was broken, the other faucet was so forceful that it hurt to take a shower. They changed that shower head quickly and then we found the water never got above lukewarm. The air conditioning unit kept resetting to 19 degrees C no matter how often we turned it up. Our room overlooked the dining area and one morning i was woken at 3:30 by staff talking, which continued for over an hour. I asked to exchange colones for smaller bills at the desk and was told they do not make change. I was advised to try the gift shop, where i attempted to buy a small item, but was told they could not make change. The bar finally gave me change. The breakfast was adequate, but hot food was lukewarm and tasted of old grease. Food at the bar and on-site restaurant were okay but at the bar 10% - 20% if the items on the menu were blocked over with white because they no longer serve them. The public area furniture needs upgrading, replacing, cleaning. I could not get an answer about whether the water was safe to drink and was served bottled water without requesting it at one of the restaurants. When I was charged, the waiter said, “I don’t drink the water.” Although I did not request it, they would not remove the water from the bill.
Overall, Wyndham needs to refurbish this hotel. Close it down for a couple months or close sections down one at a time and open again when everything is working and clean. I think it has the bones of a good hotel. Replace horrible room carpets with tile and get new furniture. Resurface pool areas. Update plumbing. Figure out if water is safe so staff can answer clearly. Remind staff not to have loud conversations at 3 am in areas near the rooms.
The hotel is aged and needs a full renovation. Stains on carpet and chairs, holes in the curtains, missing tiles on the floors. The breakfast buffet items were all cold.
The staff did not appear to be engaging in their response as has been custom to all other hotels we have been to in the past 2 1/2 weeks. They just seemed disinterested.
The highlight was the wonderful dinner at the restaurant next door called QUATRO . Great service. Great selection of delicious foods choices . Our group had the steak, clams and spaghetti and delicious panini sandwich. Would definitely recommend this restaurant for dinner.
Nice hotel in the vicinity of the airport with all the necessary facilities. Staff is very friendly and Mr Marvin was very nice.
Great pizza and caramel latte from Manuel Aguilar! We enjoyed the music and fast service. We would come back on our next vacation
We had a great day pass experience at the Wyndham San José Herradura with my wife and our two children. The amount we paid was fully redeemable for food, which was delicious and exceeded our expectations.
I would especially like to highlight the outstanding service provided by Karina Ramírez from the Splash pool bar area. Her attention, kindness, and professionalism truly made a difference in our visit. People like her are the reason guests want to come back to a place.
Overall, it was a very pleasant family experience and we would definitely consider returning.
The Wyndham Hotel is a dump. It's falling apart. I actually have a picture of the elevator call button on the main floor that shows the top button completely missing and LIVE wires hanging out of the hole. The door to our bathroom was so warped it couldn't close—or maybe, it was the floor swelling. Couldn't be sure. There was NO light in the room, only the dim lamp between the beds and a desk lamp. Our air conditioner did not work and they fought with us about it. They sent "technicians" twice. The room was 92F and they kept saying, just wait, it'll cool down. After no change in temperature for 40 minutes--it actually got hotter--they refused to change our room until a big stink was made at the front desk. The toilet had to be flushed an average of 3 times and the water rose very near the top each time. The black non-slip strips in the bathtub were black with a hard grit surface, like you would use on an outdoor stairway, and they were peeling up. No safety bars, high step up. Even the faucet on the sink was installed crooked, off center. If you have a choice, choose somewhere else.
We Love the restaurant! Manuel and Magdalena are very friendly and kind! Thanks a lot!
Excellent attention from Manuel, he gave us very good recommendations and chef Yosip's food was delicious. We ordered corvina and salmon.
I want to thank Ana at the reception who helped me to get my boarding pass. She was able to do things on my Ipad that I don't know how to do and get my passes printed! Thank you Ana.
Overall the rooms were in good condition. It is a huge facility and takes a bit of time to find one's way around. The meal I had was mediocre, but I was with a group and generally it is hard to please anyone when you are trying to please everyone.
This is an older hotel for sure but as Wyndham members we were upgraded to a room that was apartment sized. The pub food was great and the margarita delicious.
The lobby looks nice at first glance, but the couches and chairs are worn and stained. This hotel is very poorly maintained and very dirty. In the rooms, the tops of the curtains are black with dirt, there is dirt and debris accumulated in all corners of the room and bathroom, the finish on the tub is peeling, and the bottom of the tub needs a good scrub. The bathtub drain didn’t actually drain, so I stood in several inches of soapy, dirty water that took quite awhile to dissipate after my shower was finished. I had a sofa in my room that was so dirty and stained that it made my skin crawl to look at it and I would not get anywhere near it. When I first entered the room, I used the toilet, flushed and washed my hands. I returned 15 minutes later to find a small pond on the floor of the bathroom. The maintenance person came to my room, said the water was welling up through the floor tiles, and put a towel down. Nothing else was done There was a tangled mass of hair caught under my bathroom door, which was gross. The ventilation system made so much noise. I had to turn it off, which made the room uncomfortable. The people at this hotel are nice enough, but with the switch plates half out of the wall, the makeup mirror loose and hanging off the wall at a crazy angle, the lampshades crooked and fraying/broken, and the carpet so filthy that I would not walk on it without shoes, I can say that I will never again voluntarily stay at this run-down place. There was a large wad of hairy, matted something on the stairs that remained throughout my stay and was never cleaned up by housekeeping staff. The housekeeping service is so poorly managed that although I checked in at the designated time, I had to wait 2 hours for a room key because the room was not clean - or so I was told. I entered the room to find a note welcoming a different guest, and when I inquired I was told she had been moved to a different room and I was put in hers. It was ridiculous. Other people on this review site are raving about the Quattro restaurant on the premises; however, I can state that this hotel is one of the very worst I have ever experienced. There are several others within a block or two. Try one of those - they couldn’t possibly be any worse and they might be a whole lot better than this run-down place. Ugh.
Worst room in the building. Poor light. OId room. Nasty vents. Had ants on 3 different occasions. Once on my bed. Tub didn't work, Air Conditioner week. only 1 working plug in the lamp near the beds worked. 4 wall sockets didn't. Fuse went out while we were gone which took out the front room power and the fridge. spoiled our food. Back window overlooked concrete fence with razor wire, metal shed roof and empty dirt lot. My sister I are handicapped and mentioned this. They put us in the farthest room from the front desk. ask for microwave, was told they didn't have one... For a Jr. Suite. My son's room didn't even have a shower curtain. They asked for one, and said they didn't have one. Go to the store and buy one!! I plugged the drain to take a bath, when I unplugged the drain the water came up another drain in the bathroom floor and I had to put down towels to dry up the floor. 2 tiny TVs that weren't Plasma. Tried to upload pictures, but the system won't let me. Must not want to see them posted. Biggest issue was I paid for my package in Sept for our Dec trip. Got to Hotel and they said the room wasn't paid for. Had to pay again, and now fighting to get my $900 back.
The hotel was ok 3 out of 5. Our main review lies within the restaurant Quattro! Our service from Manuel and Pablo was simply outstanding. On point and really felt like 5 star service, thank you so much! Because of you two gentlemen, we will be coming back. The food was amazing, the atmosphere was a delight, we had a tenderloin on a bed a risotto, a fillet of salmon on a bed of cuddle fish inked pasta, and the house pizza, all of which were truly amazing! I would make monthly appearances here if we lived closer, such great service! Thank you gents!
I came with my husband to celebrate our anniversary at Quattro Restaurant, and everything exceeded our expectations. The service was outstanding—Emmanuel and Pablo were incredibly attentive and made us feel truly taken care of throughout the evening.
The quality of the food was exceptional, each dish prepared with great flavor and attention to detail. The restaurant itself has been beautifully upgraded; the ambiance is warm, elegant, and perfect for spending time with your partner, friends, or family. It’s a space that feels inviting and special.
We will definitely be coming back.
Manuel Aguilar en el Quattro was amazing. Service and food was awesome. If you need a quick bite in the hotel I definitely recommend just walking here for a quick bite.
