Only the breakfast staff
I thought it was dated and smelt
Really impressed by the grounds and facilities. Would definitely stay again!
Even though we'd booked dinner, bed and breakfast there weren't many times available in the restaurant. It would be helpful to know when booking that we needed to book a time in the restaurant.
Room size was good and the bathroom had a seperate bath and shower cubicle.
Paid £197 for one night stay which included breakfast and 3 course evening meal for two adults and one child.
Paying upfront for the evening meal was worth it because it worked out to £10, pp, where as the 3 course meal is £30pp if you turn up and pay the restaurant separately.
Katie, Mary and one other waitress in the restaurant were really nice (missed her name)
Damien on reception in the morning was pleasant.
Lady on reception desk was a little miserable (name badge a little obscured so couldn't see it properly)
She was eating in the office when we arrived, told us that we needed to go for dinner right away (around 6pm) because at 7pm there were 2 coach loads of people arriving for dinner and it would be too busy. A little irritating because I called the day before to ask if booking was needed and was told no.
We went to dump our bags in our room and found it had only been set for 2 people.
Just the 2 towels and sofa bed not made up for our daughter. Not a problem as we were going for dinner. I told the reception staff who proceeded to tell me she would do it when she could, she was really busy because she was the only person working and was floating between reception and the restaurant as well as doing all the other things...
Not impressed with the attitude.
We had room 202 which is labeled as an executive room/suite but unfortunately is right next to the fire exit door and lift area. This means all you can hear is constant banging when people open and close the door both late in the evening (past 11pm) and well before 7am.
The food wasn't the best, but for what we paid it was ok. Kids meal was pretty beige.
Hugely different to the Chatham/Rochester Hotel we stayed in less than a week earlier. Being the same hotel chain, similar service was expected but this one didn't quite cut it sadly.
Room was really tired too and quite a bit of dust in places especially around the sofa bed.
Location
Restaurant and bar slightly more expensive than similar venues
A friendly, chatty and personable welcome upon arrival. Reason for choosing this place to stay on the Friday night was to run the Crichton Park parkrun in the morning; the start was right outside the back door. Electric fan available in our room as during heatwave. Paper map given to us to help navigate an hours walking route through the extensive grounds of rock garden, rose garden and beyond to the River Nith. Very clean and comfortable bed. Such a good experience, we’ll be back to stay and run the very friendly parkrun again. Flexible late checkout of 12 noon.
Nothing. Good memories.
Very nice enjoyable
Great location
The kids loved it but wanted a pool or table tennis table! Little bit noisy room to room m. Some rude Scot called our room phone to complain about the noise but we were asleep! Kinda crazy
Staff wonderful. Nice big room and clean
No fridge as room so big it could be accomodated but no big deal
Emplacement très sympathique, chambre au calme, literie très confortable.
Clean & nice area
One room with broken AC. Very hot day and room steaming hot. No fix after request and no alternative offered
The extraordinary staff . So helpful . Prisca on reception was the most helped receptionist I have come across in many years . She went to enormous trouble to make sure all was fine with my room . The dining room was so busy but the meals were delivered swiftly by great staff who were genial and kind and supremely efficient .
The hotel owners should know the ownership team who do not offer complimentary water in standard £140 a night rooms are just mean !!
I hope the money saved on the water - which many less expensive hotels provide will go to find staff pay rises .

Superb location for our needs. Grounds amazing for walking around.
The staff are always friendly and welcoming. The staff and service we got in the restaurant were brilliant
Not a thing
Room was spacious, bed was huge and very comfy. Situated in a lovely and interesting location. Breakfast there was a huge variety to choose from, well cooked and tasty. Staff were friendly and good at their job.
Place could do with a bit of refurbishment, flooring coming up in front of the bar/food area. Areas needed a good dusting eg in front of fireplace , lights, ceiling in the bar,
Lovely bedroom. Comfy bed, and good shower
The service was slow in the restaurant and the food/wine left a lot to be desired. Breakfast time meant empty trays at all stations. No glasses for juice, no bread for toast. No pastries or fresh fruit and hot plate was no better! Understand they had a busy room, but 2 staff were unable to keep everything filled. Very disappointing!
Nice location.
I would have liked a safe and fridge in room. The tv was rather small. I don’t think the service in the restaurant was super special although the supervisor did sort it out. No tomato juice at the bar. The check out was very good. Excellent front desk gentleman.
Breakfast, quiet room
Overpowering air freshener in reception and hall
Room was immaculate and very comfortable. Excellent shower. Restaurant food was amazing.
Bedroom door didn't lock
Staff so helpful and friendly. From Becca, the co ordinator to John , the restaurant manager and all the staff. Breakfast was fantastic, a full Scottish, fresh melon, yogurt, whatever you required. The evening meal was great, plenty of choice. Bed so comfortable. Wonderful stay. Will be coming again!
