Loved our stay! Our room was lovely and well appointed, service was very good, the breakfast was a highlight. They have a shuttle to pick you up from the bus stop. They were right on time. We took the train in from Zurich to Chur then caught a bus. Chur station wasn’t manned at all and we weren’t sure which ticket to buy out of the machine but we managed to get a ticket and find the bus what dropped us at the correct station. The bus driver didn’t speak English so be prepared. Anyway, lovely all around, loved their spa and pools, tea station and nice vibe all around.
The Hotel Waldhaus is closed and bankrupt!!!! Vers sad. It was the failure of the Management. The American owners did. Not unterstand the Business and wanted only make Money instead of serving the guests. Shame on you!!
Just simply terrible. Starts off with no staff to clean the rooms at check in.
No staff at spa to give basic things like towels etc.
No turn down service and then they don’t believe you and they keep arguing about it especially a gentlemen named Mr Werner. Extremely extremely rude person.
Now he wants to charge me for the water after spending 2000 euros a night . The point is not the cost but the fact that he does not believe you and at 11 in the night argues about it…just simply terrible service
I stayed in January in this magnificent hotel. This structure is certainly one of the most beautiful historic hotels in Switzerland. The common areas have retained the charm of the golden age of travl. The staff is friendly and very helpful in all areas of the hotel. The room, a Junior Suite, was perfect. Very spacious, tastefully furnished and certainly in line with what can be expected from a 5-star hotel. Very pleasant SPA with simply magnificent outdoor pool. In my opinion, breakfast is another great strength of the hotel: great choice with many regional products. I think it is important to find local regional products in hotels. There is also a shuttle service to the village of Flims and to the ski lifts. The Caumasee can easily be reached on foot. A real 5 star in one of the most beautiful regions of Switzerland. Absolutely recommended.
We spent three nights here in early October 2022, three of us travelling from England with the fourth family member a resident of Switzerland.
We had been a bit concerned having seen the film Youth, filmed here on location, where the hotel came across as a bit grim, but we need not have worried! It was very comfortable, the staff were without exception friendly and helpful, and although it was not cheap we felt it was fair pricing for what was on offer. (The parking seemed expensive for what it was, but that was relatively minor in the grand scheme of things.)
Early October was low season, and some of the restaurants were closed. We did not particularly rate the off-site (but hotel-recommended) Pomodoro Italian, and if we had had our time again we would have gone elsewhere in the village. However, the hotel itself has a good bar and the breakfasts were really superb.
We enjoyed many of the other facilities on offer, including the spa with its indoor and outdoor pools, sauna, steam room, etc. Also the grand piano, the pool table and other various things to do.
Free coffees and other drinks (tea, water) are always available, both in the rooms and all around the hotel.
Many reviews comment on how they were upgraded to better rooms. That did not happen to us, but as we were four adults (married couple, brother-in-law, adult son), we were given two adjoining rooms with a connecting door, which worked very well for us. The mattresses were on the soft side for our taste, but the room was otherwise perfect for our needs with free mini bar (not including alcohol), TV, safe, tables, chairs, and so on. The rooms and all other areas of the hotel were spotlessly clean.
I always feel that running a hotel must be a nightmare job, but they have really got it to a fine art here. The staff never overwhelmed us but were always on hand if needed, and there were lots of nice little touches that made our stay thoroughly enjoyable.
We were lucky that the weather was superb for our stay here, and we really enjoyed some of the local scenery, both on foot and in our car.
One small detail is that I like to charge my phone overnight, but also have it by the bed to check the time if waking up. The charging area was across the room. Again, though, that is minor in the overall context.
We are from USA and we found this resort on Bonvoy site. Since we were in the area (Zurich going to Jungfraujoch region) we decided to spend a few days at this resort. We got there by our rented car. The hotel offers two paid parking options: under cover and no cover (half the price), both are valet. The hotel seemed very empty, quiet, and clean. The front desk young man was one of the nicest polite and curious front desk people ever! He made us fee welcome and walked us to our room to show things. We got upgraded to a suite room with living room and extra sink room. We received a basket of fruit and a bottle of either wine or champagne. Minibar nonalcoholic drinks were included. The rooms were big, beds very comfy, bedding was amazing. Bathroom was spacious, the only odd thing was toilet was located in a separate room than the shower, I mean you have to walk through the bedroom to get to the toilet. The hotel provides bathrobes and slippers, and changed those every day. The breakfast was very good. High quality food, tons of cheese. You can order eggs of any kind. Buffet was included for everyone. We used the outdoor pool, which was heated and one of the best pools with jets ever. The indoor pool was very cold and unpleasant. During our stay the only time we saw other guests was at breakfast time, that's it. Also they offer umbrellas and hiking sticks to borrow. We would definitely return there again if we were in the area.
Alles sehr schön.
Wunderbar!
Bought a 1 night stay + dinner for a family on an internet offer and added a second night.
It turned out to be the best thing I could have done.
The location and its views are wonderfull.
Staff is friendly, helpfull and attentive to details.
At arrival I was informed that for some reason that I couldn't fully understand, I had been upgraded to a Deluxe Junior Suite for free, which is a superb room.
Outside heated pool was, for us, the cherry on top of the cake.
Both adults and kids loved it.
Don't know when but will come back for sure.
My husband and I had a superb weekend getaway at Waldhaus, and never found reason to leave the premises aside from a short hike! Compared to other resorts in the area, it's a really excellent value.
Our room overlooking the mountains was lovely and luxurious, but the real draw was the spa. We had a wonderfully relaxing time at the heated outdoor pool and saunas (though foreigners beware, there are some mixed nudist areas), and enjoyed the various restaurants and bars on the premises.
Knocking off one star because we found the staffing inconsistent: non-existent at times in the spa area, but overbearing at the front desk.
Sehr freundliches und hilfsbereites Personal.
Schönes Hotel zum entspannen und das Frühstück, alles da was das Herz begehrt. Top-wir kommen sicher wieder
A marvelous stay at the hotel Waldhaus Flims with a wonderful staff. The food was divine and the room very cozy and clean. I greatly recommend it. Special thanks to Gaëtan and his amazing services! :)
Sehr zufrieden. Danke vielmals.
Liebe Grüsse
We went to Waldhaus on a company business trip. It is a great hotel that prides itself in it's history. There is a nice museum setup and displays of mined minerals throughout the underground corridors between buildings.
The staff, reception, housekeeping and management are very professional and helpful.
The spa was great too. It is quite booked up though so you'll need to book in advance.
We loved the Lebanese restaurant located at the hotel. It also has a Thai restaurant, but we didn't get the chance to try it.
I gave a 4 rating instead of a 5, because a day earlier we booked a horse carraige ride over the phone through the concierge who said it was confirmed. However, when we arrived at the location it wasn't there to pick us up. When we returned to the hotel and asked about it, we were told it had not been booked after all. Since we needed to book 24 hours in advance we couldn't book another by the time we left.
Overall, we had a great time.
Amazing staff, beautiful hotel and area and delicious food. I would move there ;)
Our friends, my husband and me, recently stayed for the weekend in this fabulous hotel! We went to Flims as we had plans for skiing, and we couldn't have chosen a better hotel than this one. We were received by Gaetan, who was super friendly and helpful in many ways. He explained to us the spa and shuttles services for the ski slopes, which are for free, he showed us the hotel, some restaurants, and a relaxation area which is used after skiing. Every time he saw us in the hall, he was always so welcoming with a big smile and asking if everything was alright. He definitely did our stay so wonderful!
The hotel is huge and has everything. The breakfast variety is amazing and delicious. Due to our limited time there, we only visited a restaurant with great ambience and live music, which followed by a visit at the bar with a pool table. The spa has an incredible view and many areas to enjoy!
We will absolutely recommend it and come back!
Not a 5 star experience at all.
Too many guests and rooms and the infrastructure are not set to cope with such a volume.
As a result the spa is overcroweded so that you cannot find a bed nor a seat. It feels like being in a public pool.
The breakfast is also disastrous as the buffet is just too small in size and you have to wait 15min for table to end up eating in the dark in the hotel's corridor.
Finnaly, the gastronomic restaurant "Epoca" is overrated, the service is poor and the staff does not put client at first (even questioned basic definitions of allergies!!). You pay for a 2 star micheling and barely get one ok your plate.
The outstanding part is the locations, the rooms and the hotel staff! The brasserie restaurant is nice and good value.
I will not come back.
Hotel is nice but the value for money is not there. Compared with similar hotels across Switzerland it’s definitely lagging behind by a lot.
- Rooms are extremely small and spartan, which is a shame given the enormous volume available, the choice was probably made to have more but smaller rooms
- SPA is nice but shows already signs of major wear and tear, doesn’t always look super clean.
- Housekeeping service is haphazard at best, sometimes the bed was prepared in the evenings, sometimes not.
- Common areas were not always clean, in particular the glass elevator will give you a view of a thousand spider corpses
- Staff is nice but oftentimes casual
- Payed for the parking garage, quite expensive, but the car sat outside until the early evening
In general you notice the lack of coordination across the hotel, usually a telltale sign of absent general management.
If you’re looking for a nice and relaxing alpine stay, I would look further, I know we certainly will.
We recently stayed 3 nights at Waldhaus to Ski/Spa, and there is no better place to do both. The hotel has been refurbished and improved since our last visit over 10 years ago, and I think it is better for it. The hotel has retained its charming elegance, while adding some good features. There are now more restaurants and bars, and all are good, nice food, atmospheric. The rooms now have high quality modern ensuite bathrooms. The setting of the hotel with its extensive grounds, elegant canopied walkways and beautiful forested backdrop, is spectacular and beautiful. All best enjoyed from the terrace bar with its sumptuous couches. The new Brasserie has a stunning view out to the old Flims and mountain backdrop. The SPA is gorgeous, the outdoor heated pool is beyond amazing, sitting on the bubble racks, starring at the snow covered trees as the snow drifts down on you, wow! It is all expensive, but then Switzerland is, but this is a place to save up for and come to if you want to enjoy lifes great pleasures.
The hotel is in the charming village of Flims.
The rooms are lovely and elegant and have amazing views of the forest and mountains. We went in December and it was all covered in snow. It was beautiful. The grounds are beautiful with lovely walking trails. The staff are very friendly and nothing is to big of an ask. The breakfast is delicious with lots of choice for every person. I would come back here in a heart beat.
