Hampton Inn Dunn

If a zero-star rating were possible, this hotel would earn it. I held two prepaid reservations at the Hampton Inn in Dunn, North Carolina during July 2026, booked through a third-party site (Expedia, Trivago, Booking.com, etc.) as convenient mid-way stops on the outbound and return legs of a trip.
On arrival for the first reservation, I was told the hotel had no hot water. The desk clerk claimed a notice had been emailed, but it went out barely two hours before my arrival, of no use to someone already on the road. The hotel cancelled my reservation on the spot, then refused to refund the prepaid charge, directing me to chase the booking company for my own money. No further explanation was offered, and no effort whatsoever was made to help me find a room elsewhere.
Thinking that a hotel wide hot water outage would be a temporary issue, I did keep the second reservation (it was too late to cancel without charge). When returning I was told the hot water was still out. This time they did not send any notice whatsoever. Only on demand did the desk clerk send an email stating that there was no hot water. Again, there was no explanation and no offer of any assistance.
After finding other accommodation for the night the night manager at a competing hotel mentioned that the Hampton Inn has been out of hot water for over a month but keeps on booking reservations and only refunds under pressure.
Please note that this review is only for the Hampton Inn at Dunn, NC. I have stayed at other Hampton Inns and found them comfortable and reasonable.

The whole hotel was out of “hot” shower water. The person on the messaging side who asks how everything is was “like yeah the whole hotel is out of hot water” then claimed they emailed me to notify me. I don’t see the email. Even if they did that it just seems crazy they wouldn’t tell us at check in so that we know.
I frequently stay at this hotel because I have family in Dunn we visit. Normally the hotel is great and no issues. We checked out a day earlier from one of our reservations because of this. We only stayed there one night (3 rooms) / 10 people. Then we are staying at cabins in RV park. We wer lucky to get an extra cabin for the one night. No hot showers when on a work cation with lots of kids is important. It’s was definitely disappointing.

They claimed they emailed me to tell me via their text message (hotline) but they definitely did not. Not that I found. Also they could have told us st check in. We checkout early from one of the rooms were planned to keep 2 nights just because of this. I frequently come to this hotel and normally it’s good. This time that was not good.

Hotel was out of hot water for my entire 3 night stay. Was helping my parents pack for a move to Charlotte. By the 3rd night after not having a shower i decided to not stay. The hotel is saying there is nothing they can do

Comfort and space

The property was ideal for an overnight stay on our way to Myrtle Beach, SC. It was perfect as far as accommodating our dog and allowing us to choose our room upon check in so we could be close to the side door entrance. Overall, it was a typical hotel with your standard beds/bathroom, etc. The free breakfast was the main reason we chose this hotel and it didn't disappoint.

I liked the to go breakfast bags. Very convenient.
