Amazing location beautiful views and good facilities
Staff service extremely slow, room not clean.
Stunning location, beautifully decorated. Large room (classic) with great facilities. Pool beautifully clean. Great games room with pool table, table tennis and vintage arcade games. Amazing terrace looking out at the sea and harbour. Outdoor games available e.g. badminton. Food was delicious (bar snacks particularly) and cocktails were genuinely very good. Helpful recommendations for places to eat in Town which were spot on- “Nala”(incredible fine dining) and doggy friendly which was awesome and quite rare. Close to a beautiful beach (Readymoney Cove) which is dog friendly. Special mention for Abi on reception who was very friendly, welcoming and really approachable. There was a young lady waitress who was also very friendly, always smiling and very helpful and welcoming- didn’t get her name but short brown hair in a pony tail. Both a credit to the hotel.
No one offered to take our bags to the room and two reception staff watched on as we took all our bags and struggled past with our dog in tow as well.
Breakfast buffet was ok. Not what we would expect in this standard of hotel. Always looked like a plague of locusts had been even if you went early and often run out of things we wanted. Often no plates or bowls. Hot food to order was good but one day they’d apparently run out of smoked salmon. I know- small thing but irritating when buffet decimated too.
Hugely understaffed. The wait staff and bar staff were always polite and courteous when available but always rushed off their feet and being grabbed by multiple people for things so having to collect multiple orders being totally harassed by largely impatient guests mainly because no one could get service when they wanted it. Overheard a lot of people complaining. Not the wait or bar staffs fault. Ceiling fan in room was coming away from ceiling and made a knocking sound- was a bit nervous it would fall off but husband unperturbed. Air conditioning unit in the room was extremely loud and couldn’t sleep with it on- sounds like an airplane taking off- resorted to trying to sleep without in crazy heatwave. We came with our dog (mentioned on booking) but there was no doggy welcome things in the room as promised- we didn’t complain as we brought all his home comforts and didn’t get charged the dog supplement plus we could tell quite quickly that the hotel was struggling so this was a minor thing really. That said, he was welcomed by all the staff and able to go in most places so it felt doggy friendly.
The score for staff was mainly because there wasn’t enough which occasionally meant that they were a little short with you when you asked for something but there were one or two (reception) that just let others down. Not as friendly and as welcoming/helpful as you’d hope for but again, possibly because too busy and didn’t have enough help.
We have been here twice. The hotel itself is very nice and clean. Very decent size rooms, larger than the average room in many 4 star hotels and everything required available in the room. The hotel is very clean and the cleaning team seemed very organised. When we stayed the first time the spa was getting renovated. The pool is a bit "sad", the jacuzzi large and hot, probably too hot. The view from the spa is great. The hotel is a family hotel so don't be surprised if 70% of the guests have small kids. The focus indeed is on families, with support and many activities for them.. A bit less for couples..
Overall the hotel is a great hotel and Fowey is lovely.
There was no welcome kit for our dogs in the room which instead we found in the room the first time. The room we were given is very far from the entrance which is not convenient when you have dogs. The lift is ridiculously slow and it takes ages to just do a couple of floors. The breakfast is the real let down of this hotel. It was average the first time and much worse this time. Anytime after 9 the majority of the cooked items have gone, particularly scrambled eggs. The service is not prompt and attentive and except for the first morning, it took 20 minutes for somone to approach us to ask for hot drinks and if we wanted anything cooked. A complaint was raised at reception and again raised today but the lady at reception was almost dismissive and the comment given was "you can leave a review". There is a lot to improve and I feel that the lack of management is what is causing certain areas of the hotel to not be effective. For a paying customer (and for over £300 per night) the expectations are high and they should be met.
The view of Fowey from our room was spectacular when the sun was out, obviousy the hotel cant control the weather but it was hard work in the rain. The hotel grounds were great with the eating outside option and pool area very agreeabe in the sunshine. nice pool had a lovely swim, Very dog friendly which was a real bonus, Fowey is a short walk down or reasonably tryng walk back uphill but there is a shuttle bus if required. Staff very very friendly and helpful cannot fault that at all. The food was very good.
Thought the actual bar area was a little small but there were other rooms to escape to. It was probably a bit too child friendly for us, great for young families though. Would have been nice to have the bar food option available at evening time and maybe more GF options on the menu, but a really lovely hotel overall.
The whole experience was excellent from start to finish.
Would have given it a 10 but we felt that there was a lack of managerial presence around the hotel.
The only person who engaged with us all week was a member of the breakfast staff.
It was good but it should be at the price. It was good but not exceptional
Very expensive
Beautiful facility
Hospitality was poor- the staff, though kind, seemed inexperienced.
Lovely location and the room in the new wing was excellent
Staff seem overworked and in some cases poorly trained
Fab hotel. Gorgeous room and lovely staff, food and drink. Yes there are quite a few kids here … but .. there are plenty of different spaces for the adults to go !
Nothing !

Historisch mit modernem Interieur. Schöner Ausblick auf Bucht und Meer. Gut gelegen um in den Ort zu gehen.,
So much , location, style , value for money yet , family feel , excellent staff, food was generous and delicious. Our room was beautiful, the en-suite fresh and classical . The out door swimming pool was amazing!
Absolutely nothing !
The facilities in this beautiful hotel are wonderful. Coming back after a long, challenging walk and being able to use the stemronde, spa, sauna and swimming pool was very relaxing.
The location, at the top of Foye, overlooking the harbour is stunning.
Staff couldn’t have been more helpful.
Plenty of places to relax in the super lounges.
