Hôtel location and amenities are fabulous
Pros:

The room was fantastic with excellent linen towels and toiletries -the tea and coffee also excellent

Cons:

The communication with the staff-the hotel had contacted in the week to see if we wanted to modify booking -u asked for twin beds rather than double -no problem and no extra cost -got there no twin -said they would change when we were out -not changed-in the end I said to leave it -we weren’t offered a B&B package and ended paying a lot more for breakfast then we needed to -staff at breakfast quite brusque and not interested -breakfast disappointing

Fabulous 60th Birthday trip away
Pros:

Stayed here with my husband for my 60th Birthday.

On arrival we were upgraded to the Georgian Suite which was stunning.

Hotel staff couldn’t have been more helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them.

Breakfast was great. We had dinner on our second night. We chose the winter saver menu which was amazing value.

We were given cocktail vouchers for a free cocktail in the bar which were really good.

Prosecco in the room was very easy to drink.

Check out was pain free.

We will be back at some point in the future.

Anniversary visit
Pros:

We stayed at Tigerlily for 2 nights to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We have stayed before, albeit a while ago. It’s in good location on the end of George Street. We took a taxi from the train station as it was raining. It only took 5 mins and was £8.
We booked a luxury double on Agoda’s website as it was great deal. £66.50pppn including breakfast.

We arrived around 1pm and our room was ready early. We received a warm greeting from the reception staff who gave us a voucher for 2 free cocktails which was a nice touch. They had also decorated our room which was a lovely surprise. I had emailed in advance and requested a room with a bath as I know some only have a shower and our request was accommodated. We were in room 34. The room was lovely. Quite spacious with bathrobes, slippers, a Nespresso machine and GHD straighteners and hairdryer.

We decided to go to the bar to have a few cocktails. The decoration is lovely and it has a great atmosphere. Unfortunately, they had no fruit as they’d run out with the rugby the previous day so my French martini was missing raspberries and my husband’s old fashioned missing orange. It was quite disappointing, especially as the cocktails were quite expensive. We spent around £50. Admittedly we were given the voucher for 2 cocktails but a small reduction in price for the missing ingredients of the ones we paid for would have been a nice gesture.

I had researched local restaurants before we travelled and had booked in advance to eat in the hotel restaurant on our first night as I’d seen a set menu online which was very good value at £16pp for 2 courses and had several dishes we both liked.

Unfortunately I’d forgotten about the set menu when we were seated and we were only offered the à la carte which was way more expensive. The waiter was not very friendly and there was no mention of a set menu. When the bill arrived, we had also been charged for a bottle of pinot Grigio blush at £34.95 when I’d asked for and received house rose which was £30.95. A service charge was also automatically added to the bill.

We approached reception to query the bill and a young lady spoke with the waiter in question. He rudely came over and thrust £3 into my hand saying there’s your £3 back. It actually should have been £4 for the difference in the wine but I was taken aback by his attitude so didn’t argue. What should have been a good value meal (we only had 2 courses) came to over £100 (£40 more than it would have done had we dined from the set menu) and left me feeling quite upset.

Despite the disappointing service, we slept well. The bed was very comfortable and the room quiet. Breakfast was great, as were the staff at breakfast. Everything hot and cooked to order. On our final morning however, around 8am, there was loud drilling and hammering which sounded like it was on the other side of the wall. I’m not sure if it was coming from the building next door as I mentioned it a reception and they didn’t seem to know anything about it.

All in all we did have a lovely time but I have knocked off a star for the issues we experienced.
We would return again if we could get another great deal.

Tiger lily blooming marvellous
Pros:

Great hotel location and vibe. Staff are all superb especially the breakfast ladies, nothing too much trouble in orders or accommodating our party drifting in at different times. Fantastic location for sight seeing and general eating and drinking. Set menu in the restaurant is excellent value for money. Free cocktails for my birthday was a lovely touch and personalised card. Thank you we will be back.
