We spent three nights at this hotel. The building is beautiful, and the staff are all brilliant . The door staff greet you every time you pass through, and a special shout out to Kee and Chloe at reception who were wonderful. The koi pond in the centre is clean and stunning. There is a full-size snooker table which was very nice to play on, and the internal decorations at Christmas time were stunning. Breakfast was also a highlight, in particular the Roti Canai which was the best we had anywhere on our travels. The pancakes were also delicious.
Also a special thanks to Mr Madi, the naturalist who takes people on walks. He was very helpful in recommending a friend who took us out birding.
The spa is simply outstanding. We had treatments by Diana and Arika who were fabulous and the facilities and surroundings are extremely tranquil and beautiful
However, there are several issues. The most disappointing was the awful mattress. It was obviously well past it’s used by date, hard, and no spring. Of all the places we stayed in Malaysia, including some eco-friendly resorts, it was by far the worst mattress we slept on.
The road outside the hotel is also noisy, although this isn’t the hotels fault. You will need earplugs to get a good nights sleep, if you can bear the mattress.
We raised the issue of the poor quality mattress with reception, who assured us that they would get maintenance to do something about it, but I would be amazed if we were the very first people to mention this, so it’s hard to know if they will actually take any action.
The final issue is the charges. This hotel is charging near Western European prices, and then you are still hit with additional “service charge” on top. This was unexpected and unusual in our experience in Asia, and although all the service was great, I would expect it to be. It shouldn’t be an extra.
We also didn’t use the laundry service because for the amount of laundry we had it was very expensive.
A final note about Cameron Highlands in December.
just don’t go. The traffic is beyond insane. You can’t move or travel around the place. Where this hotel is located, there is very little within a short walking distance, so you will probably want to use a grab to take you around, and then you can’t get anywhere quickly because the traffic is gridlocked most of the day
The hotel is good. BUT come prepared and bring your own earplugs or noise cancelling headphones. The hotel is next to the road and there is traffic during the night. A lot. If you rely on the earplugs provided then you won’t sleep. Otherwise all is fine.
The hotel is very nice, located just outside the Tanah Rata town centre, surrounded by lush tea plantations. The rooms are spacious and clean, with cozy balconies overlooking the flower garden and the valley. My stay was amazing, marked by the great service of exceptionally attentive and well trained international staff. During my stay at this hotel I felt like in "Mini-Britain", with a superb traditional Afternoon Tea service, live piano music, high class dining at Gonbei restaurant and overall style of the place. The rejuvenating Tea Bath in the SPA Village followed by a relaxing full body massage done by Arika was outstanding.
Wonderful place to stay, the staff are really special and made us feel so welcome.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and ate in both restaurants which were amazing.
Breakfasts were lovely too.
Nothing can be faulted at this place with a cool colonial charm and excellent service from all the ground staff. Although the resort is located next to the main road, ear plugs are provided in case one may need it during the bedtime. Breakfast in form of unlimited ala carte is definitely a bonus.
Wonderful experience with Mrs J and friends experiencing for the very first time the Christmas Lighting Ceremony from the 21st till 23rd of Nov 2025. Truly amazing. From the delicious foods, hi tea, lunch, buffet lunch and the well thought out menu for the gala dinner with a wonderful spread of desserts.
Impeccable service and all the staffs were very friendly, accommodating and extremely professional with so much of warmth and welcoming. Sitting by the fire place whilst sipping on a hot mulled wine infused with spices was such a treat!
And the lighting ceremony itself, was so beautifully orchestrated! The team did so well!
Looking forward to next year’s event! A must, Once in a Lifetime Experience!
Moved here because of the obnoxiously loud mosque in Tanah Rata very early in the morning (and other times). I’m glad we did. It is a beautiful place, and felt like a refuge. Great afternoon tea service and excellent bar with flights of whiskey. The tranquility of the Highlands compared to the agitation in town.
I stayed at the Cameron Highlands Resort for two nights. Absolutely beautiful hotel, colonial style decor with a very relaxing ambience. Staff friendly and attentive, afternoon tea well recommended.
The days prior to our check-in, I was liaising with Kennedy in the KL sales office. He was very accommodating to my request to make it a good 30th anniversary for my wife and me. The staff at the resort were kind, attentive and helpful. The standouts were Kee at the reception and Santosh at the breakfast venue.
Come November almost every year for the past few years, - the 3rd or 4th week of the month of November, my family of 6 members ie 3 couples together with few other like-minded close friends make prior reservations to be whisked away for a different magical experience for a unique festive-3D2N weekend at the magnificent colonial YTL Cameron Highlands Resort.
It is a special annual event which has been the Signature Xmas Tree Lighting which some of us patiently look forward to celebrate at this time of the year that is the onset of the end-of-year holiday mood and cool season. Amongst the goodness of a delicious breakfast spread, I love the fresh strawberries which are served as they are from their local produce.
If the weather is conducive , you can sign up for a Nature Walk led by the absolutely experienced resort naturalist who has ample interesting stories of What Happened to the Legendary Silk King to share with interested trekkers and listeners. I love those tales told by a local like him and don't mind listening to them repeatedly as the mystery in it puzzles you as to how he got lost.
For those who have been to this YTL resort, the colonial-style building that entertains you with not only an in-house pianist but beautiful Xmas carols plus old time favourites as you sit and relax yourself in the spacious beautifully and aesthetically-decorated resort at this festive time of the year in the airy cool, well-ventilated lounge. I simply love this soothing experience as I find myself lost in this magical ambience.
I look forward to the High tea of freshly baked scones with the cream and strawberry jam all homemade and fresh.
The delectable steam-boat with a huge variety of local vegetables is certainly very welcoming to anybody's taste buds. The lip-smacking buffet lunch the next day is indeed a delight in this cool weather as the variety is breath-taking. You are spoilt for choice.
If that's not an enough nutritious cuisine for lunch, there's the scrumptious luscious lavish Xmas Dinner awaiting you with a free-flow of cocktails soon to be followed by Xmas carol performances, an entertainment that highlights the magical ambience of this unique XMAS TREE LIGHTING Signature event of this resort on the cool highlands of Malaysia.
We count ourselves blessed and fortunate to be present here in Cameron Highlands every year and are looking forward to more Xmas Tree Lighting festivities.
We thank the Resort Manager and the entire team for giving us a truly memorable weekend.
Back with my girlie friends again.
Absolutely love our short stay at Cameron’s resort. Service is impeccable and warm.
Truly pampered. Shout out to the welcoming team and door staff. Always smiling and ready to help us. We had a wonderful hot pot meal with generous portions and superb service at Ganpei.
And we were delighted when we had our simple request of those magical tree lights up granted just enough for a magical photo op. Keep up the good job
Deluxe double room was great, very large with a UK size superking bed. Big balcony with table & chairs. Bathroom had walk-in shower with rain shower or hand held one, all toiletries provided, bath & hand towels provided too. Room also had a wardrobe and safe. Turn down service provided every night with bottled water. Steep prices if you wanted anything from the minibar or the snacks provided in the room.
Hotel has relaxed atmosphere with different areas to sit. Service is impeccable from all members of staff. Check-in was quick. Luggage porters brought our bags to the room very quickly (under 5 mins).
We ate dinner in the Dining room once and could not fault it. Breakfast is plentiful and good.
Location was fine for us, half way between Tanah Rata & Brinchang, we walked to both or got grabs which were very cheap.
Many comment on the noise - the hotel is on a main road. Whilst out of control of the hotel there are a number of vehicles that pass through in the night with loud exhausts. Yes, it's noisy but the hotel also provide earplugs on each bedside table, I felt this was an acknowledgement of the noise out of their control yet they're still trying to improve the comfort of their guests.
Cameron Highlands Resort, is an experience, not just an overnight... you go there, you stay there, you use the facilities, the restaurants, the bars, the many seating areas available within the property and let yourself fall back in time. Make time for the afternoon tea.. cannot be missed. I had one of the best sleeps at Cameron Highlands Resort of possibly my entire life. Fantastic mattress and a good selection of pillows will make it difficult for you to wake up in the morning.. but make sure you don't miss breakfast.
The two week Hilton/SLH tour continued in the Cameron Highlands where we stayed at the Cameron Highland Resort. On previous stays I have 'roughed' it a little in Brinchang but this time using Hilton points upgraded myself to the CHR - and then received a literal upgrade to a suite which was exquisite with a beautiful sitting area/living room and two bathrooms! The beds were comfortable, the water was hot, the room was clean and quiet with a view across the road to the golf course and hills beyond.
Meals are definitely higher priced and while the wait staff were quite attentive in the evenings (try the delicious and surprising Ice plant salad if you have never had this before!) in the morning, they seemed much less attentive. Breakfast consists of a small buffet in the morning and then you order off the set list menu - as many items as you want one at a time ranging from Nasi Lemak to a full english breakfast - but noone returned to ask if we wanted a 2nd cup of tea/coffee or if we wanted to order an additional item - we had to literally stand up and find someone on the 2nd day when we wanted to order something else. This was my only critical feedback and lowered this review from 5 to 4 stars. Other staff were more engaging and helpful outside of the dining experience. Enjoyed meeting staff from all around the world. The afternoon tea was very good and very popular. We went on the free walk about with Madi (in house guide) who was great and is a wealth of knowledge on all things Cameron highlands ranging from flora/fauna to Jim Thompson's disappearance.
The Cameron Highlands is slowly/quickly being ruined by it's own success/charm and utter environmental destruction but I am grateful that after many decades I finally got to stay here at a place that hasn't changed and will always hold great memories of our short two day stay.
Service was excellent!
The hotel was excellent in every way, especially impressed with all the lovely staff. Waiters at steamboat dinner and breakfast were fantastic, so friendly but very professional , nothing was too much trouble. could not fault them in any way. Checkin/checkout staff lovely and welcoming. Concierge staff very helpful and welcoming. Hotel furnishings and atmosphere lovely. Enjoyed the games room and snooker table.
AVOID!!!! You will not be able to sleep the road is so noisy! THESE GUYS GIVE YOU EARPLUGS INSTEAD OF SPENDING MONEY ON SOUNDPROOF WINDOWS! ANY 2 STAR AIRPORT HOTEL IS SOUNDPROOF NOT LIKE THIS “5-STAR”! SHAMEFUL!!!!
We experienced very poor customer service from management during our stay. Upon arrival, we were given an unclean room—the bathroom was wet, had visible mold and hair, and it was clear the room had not been properly cleaned. Additionally, the toilet was leaking.
After raising these issues, we were moved to another room, only to discover bed bugs. We documented this and shared a photo with management via email.
We had booked and paid for a deluxe room, but what we received was far below standard—unclean, poorly maintained, and certainly not what was advertised. Unfortunately, management's response to our concerns was unsatisfactory and dismissive, adding to our frustration.
On a cool and wet afternoon in the Cameron Highlands my partner and I were keen to try the best scones in town. I'm pleased to report that the Afternoon Tea experience at Cameron Highlands Resort is a wonderful experience and the scones truly lived up to their reputation. As did the other treats that are part of the High Tea experience. It's very reasonably priced at MYR130++ for two. If you're fortunate you will get to meet the charming Ravi who proudly manages the event . A very worthwhile experience
CH Resort is the best hotel in CH by far!! Everything in this hotel is amazing...from right of the entrance to your room. The Staff is absolutely brilliant... taking care of your luggage, reception, cleaning service, bar, restaurant ... and in particular Spa therapists: Anika and Najiya. We (my wife and I) enjoyed a massage there, which is one of the best we have had in Asia... Really Fantastic!
The rooms are very luxurious, colonial style, with all the comforts you may need. The WiFi is high speed everywhere, and saloons are very well maintained in its original colonial condition!
I would like to mention, again, the high professional skills of the all staff: very well trained, discreet, friendly and helpful.
My congratulations to the management of this hotel... and my deepest appreciation to all the staff for your kindness and professionalism.
