Ixchel Beach Hotel

We enjoyed our stay here. The suite was very spacious, large bathroom vanity and excellent shower! The restaurant was very good as were the wait staff ( kudos to Hugo and Julieta).
There were days when the beach was quite crowded but I think that’s how it is on the north end of the island.

Very happy with our time and experience at Ixchel. We splurged this trip and do not regret it. The hotel room itself is wonderful, quiet and clean. Our room had a water cooler making it easy to stay hydrated. We appreciated having dedicated beach chairs and was always easy to find a spot or the staff were happy to accomplish and get you a chair. Allen has been our server on the beach and very attentive. Easy to charge to room. Staying at Ixchel has made our trip to Isla Mujeres so wonderful.

We have stayed at Ixchel for years, and love it. The staff is great, and they make everyone feel like family. This property is on North Beach, the best place on the island and at the North end of Hidalgo, the restaurant, bar, and shopping area of the island. The condos and rooms are each unique, well decorated, and very clean. The kitchens are well equipped. You will definitely enjoy your stay here!!

We wanted a relaxing low-key vacation with a soft sandy beach just steps away from our hotel, good food, deep sleep, and easy access to restaurants. Ixchel Beach Hotel more than delivered. They exceeded our expectations. First, the hotel is just like you see in the photographs. It is very clean - the daily housekeeping service is amazing. The hotel is very quiet -- the hotel was full, but we never heard other quests. And the staff is amazing and very accommodating, beginning with arranging transportation and answering questions before we even arrived. Daniel was first-class in helping us, from checking us in early because we had a red-eye flight to arranging a trainer to come to the hotel. The whole Ixchel team was there to please and knew the names of each guest - pretty amazing. The beach and water was perfect -- it is a calmer part of the island we enjoyed our swims every day, as well as sipping skinny margaritas. The hotel is tucked in away from the rests of the tourist, yet it is just down the street from the nicer restaurants and bars. Also, we felt very safe at the hotel and on the island. We are highly likely to pick Ixchel Beach Hotel for a future vacation.

Traveled with family of 5 to celebrate the New Year and this place did not disappoint. The room was spacious and kept very clean. Located on Playa Norte, the beach is amazing and vibrant with friendly people from all over. The waiters are very nice and are there to serve you quickly. The food and drinks are amazing. Ixchel is close to Hidalgo Street with all the shops, bars and restaurants.

The condo was spacious and well appointed. The location is perfect, just steps from North beach and a block from the bustle of the downtown area restaurants and businesses. Staff was friendly and helpful.

We love ixchel. We’ve been here twice as a family of three and will be back again. The location is perfect on a great part of playa Norte and a very short walk to hidalgo.

The service from all of the hotel staff is kind and attentive. We spend a lot of time at the beach and the service from Chepo creates an incredible beach experience. Chepo’s the best, he always checks in at the right time and is so helpful. He’s a major reason we’ll come back again.

Only minor areas of improvement is the food from the restaurant is fine if you stick to basics but not great. And the hvac is a little wonky (it blasts loudly for like 2 minutes and then turns off completely which is disruptive if you’re sleeping).

We’ve stayed in 2 different one bedroom suites (second and third floors) and both had nice views. Not very modern finishes but spacious, comfortable, and clean. Great water pressure and comfortable beds. Our son sleeps on a cot in the living room area and the rollaway is very comfortable.

Ixchel is a great value. Mostly a family atmosphere and not too noisy. Can’t wait to return.

Wonderful place to stay in Isla! The staff go above and beyond to meet needs. Cesar is excellent, but truly all the staff are wonderful. Walk out the door and you are on the cutest avenue FULL of amazing food options. Food at Isla is delicious too! Will be back next year!

My family and I have been enjoying our stay at Ixchel. Comfy like home, elevated with gorg balcony ocean views and caring staff.

In particular, Martha at the front desk is fantastic- helpful and welcoming. The hotel restaurant has yum food, only to be rivaled by our server Hugo- hospitable, efficient and warm!

The two bedroom suite with balcony offered plenty of room to relax when not outside. We enjoyed breakfast and bar food - very good! The two pools with loungers were a nice addition to the beach. Plenty of umbrellas, loungers and staff! The staff were excellent. Great location on island and easy access to ferry and great restaurants.

Loved my stay here. Super friendly staff and all very welcoming. I appreciate them all very much they made my stay here very comfortable from room service to service on the beach. Chepo helped us the week we stayed here as well as Julieta. Both provided amazing service i cannot recommend this place enough!! 🇲🇽❤️😘 thank you team of Ixchel Hotel will be back again 🥰

We have been coming to Isla and staying at Ixchel for over ten years and it’s still our very favorite vacation spot. The hotel is in a perfect location with a beautiful beach and convenient to everywhere we want to go. Emilio does a fantastic job running the restaurant… the food is consistently SO good and the drinks at the bar are top notch. We usually eat both breakfast and lunch at the hotel each day because of the quality and the service they provide. The entire staff at Ixchel is what makes this place so wonderful! Every single hotel employee goes out of their way to make sure the guests have a memorable stay. They are always very friendly, attentive and helpful! During our most recent visit, we were able to be served by Allen at the beach. We love to sit in his section because he is always smiling, very efficient with his service and checks on us regularly. He helped us get seats in the morning and aired up all of our rafts for us as well. He is great! On our last day we were in Cesar’s section and he was also a very good server. We have had both Allen and Cesar on previous visits and they always do a phenomenal job. Any beach/restaurant server we’ve ever had there has truly been very good. We plan to be back in a few weeks and cannot wait to see everyone again.

What makes this resort, for us, is the excellent staff. From sunrise to sunset, the staff is there to help you with your needs. On the beach, Alan, Caesar, ida, Chepo work very hard to get the food and drink orders to beach patrons on their loungers. Adriana, who works the desk in building 2, helped with making reservations, suggestions on Christmas activities, and with any other questions we might have asked. Everyone from security, housekeeping, food and beverage, or maintenance try their hardest to keep the guest happy. Their helpfulness is the reason we keep coming back to Ixchel.

Staff was efficient and friendly. Cesar took very good care of us while at the beach. He is awesome! Rooms were clean and comfortable! Great place ! Great people!! Loved it!

I traveled here for Christmas with my 16 year old daughter. Location on north beach cannot be beat. Literally steps away from the sand. The overall atmosphere is comfortable, laid back, and very friendly. Above all, the staff makes this place beyond special. They are accommodating, kind, and truly function as a great team to make your stay perfect. From the desk staff, to housekeeping, to beach attendants, and waitstaff. They get to know you and never rush you with anything. The room we had was a standard room with 2 queen beds. It was very comfortable and serviceable room. We had an ocean view to die for. They provide a large dispenser of purified water for consumption in the room, which is nice to refill water bottles.
If I were to come back I would definitely choose a room with a balcony. The beds are firm and the bedding is very nice. I like firm beds but be aware of that if you do not. I liked the large walk in shower with rain shower head.

Ixchel has two nice pools - one is colder than the other - if you want a colder pool try the one near the bar. The warmer one is in front of their restaurant, Kalak. Kalak’s menu is delicojs - everything we tried was perfect. They offer classics and Mexican inspired food as well. The coffee at Kalak is nice and hot in the morning, which I appreciated. I would definitely return to this hotel for its chill ambiance, friendly staff, and excellent location.

This was a great home base for our vacation fun! Clean rooms, friendly staff, great restaurant (we had breakfast there every morning) and bar. Loves hanging out bynthe pool and the easy access to the beach. Would definitely stay here again!

Our family recently returned from a wonderful stay at this resort. The property itself is impeccably clean and perfectly situated on a spectacular stretch of beach. The sand is soft, the water is gorgeous, and the scenery—complete with palm trees and pelicans—is exactly what you want from a tropical getaway.

For Families: This resort is incredibly kid-friendly. The swimming pool is excellent for small children, and they provide a wide variety of pool and beach toys. The beach setup is also very convenient, with easy access to fresh towels right on the sand.

Staff & Service: The service here is top-notch. The entire staff was excellent, but we want to give a special shout-out to the manager, Daniel. He truly went above and beyond to ensure our family was taken care of. We also highly recommend using the hotel’s transportation; it made the transfer from the Cancun ferry seamless and stress-free.

A Note on the Noise (The "Downside"): The only significant drawback is beyond the hotel’s direct control. There are Palapas on Playa Norte (not affiliated with the hotels) that do not follow noise restrictions. On multiple nights, extremely loud, bass-heavy music played late into the night directly in front of the resort. It was very disruptive to an otherwise restful stay.

While the hotel staff was communicative and did their best to accommodate us, it seems the local authorities are not currently enforcing noise ordinances on these external businesses. It’s a shame, as it puts unfair pressure on the hotels to compensate for neighbors who aren't respectful of the space.

Final Verdict: We would highly recommend this resort for its beauty and service. We truly hope the local authorities work to address the noise issues so that this stunning beach can remain the restful paradise it’s meant to be!

We had the best time at Ixchel! Everyday we had great service on the beach and the food was amazing no matter what we tried! Try to get Allen as your server, he was the best! He was very attentive and always there and helping with everything! 10/10 experience really recommend

Allen was amazing! We sat on the beach all day for 3-4 days and he always made sure we had enough foods and drinks. The drinks came fast (and were delicious). The food is also great, we did not have one bad item

We come to ixchel every year, if not twice a year! Nothing beats it. The atmosphere, the views, a staff that goes above and beyond! This time Chepo was our server most days at the beach and he was super attentive, friendly, always anticipating our needs and we could not ask for more! When you are here and you have staff like Chepo, it feels like you’re part of the ixchel family!
