Incredible hotel, feels like you’re in the jungle
Pros:

We had a beautiful stay at this hotel. It’s hidden away in the jungle and so peaceful. Incredible Bawa design that makes it feel like you’re immersed within the landscape. Our room looked out to the Kandalama lake and to Sigiraya rock with a balcony to sit on and enjoy listening to the sounds of the jungle and watch the wildlife. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The 7th floor restaurant was a highlight, with a set course menu showcasing modern Sri Lankan food and super attentive waiters. Every dish was incredible.

Cons:

On check in, staff should advise of the various dining options and things to do. We were checked in and shown to our room but this is a big missed opportunity to inform the guests of the various activities and facilities available to guests. The rooms, whilst in keeping with the Bawa design, could do with a little update/ freshen.

Pros:

Loved the surrounding jungle and wildlife, the horizon pool was amazing and all the staff were so friendly and helpful. It also had the most wonderful buffet breakfast with so many options.

Cons:

The air conditioner in our room was very loud and it would have been nice to have a more comfortable sofa to sit in.

Pros:

The design and concept of Geoffrey Bawa. Incredible.
Great staff. V clean. Lovely food and food choices.
The high tea with elephants was well worth it.

Cons:

Woodwork looks a little tired- needs a lick of paint in some areas. Particularly outdoor sunbeds. Plug in bath did not work properly.

A stay that we will remember for a long time
Pros:

We stayed at Heritance Kandalama 2 nights and were really impressed by the architecture of this property. On day one we participated in the tour with Nayana, which was amazing. We also loved the beautiful swimming pools. The food was great.

Cons:

We booked the Panoramic King room with lake view. When we arrived we were told that we would be upgraded, but in the end we were offered a room on the ground floor, without any view. When we asked for the room that we booked the staff member was not helpful and throughout our stay we felt that staff were not always up to par.

Design lovers dream hotel
Pros:

I loved the design of the hotel. Comparing to a corporate hotel I stayed in before this was thoughtful, beautiful, sustainable, just excellent.

Geoffrey Bawa is Genius ! The best hotel in my life.
Pros:

Geoffrey Bawa 設計の自然を生かしたホテル。
カンダラマ湖の対岸の先にシーギリヤロックやピデュランガラロックが見えるロケーション。
ホテルの施設や庭もしっかり管理されている。

Cons:

新人と思われるチェックイン担当者の手際の悪さからか、ホテル到着後1時間待たされ、こちらから問い合わせてやっと部屋に案内された。

We had a lovely stay and enjoyed every bit of it from enjoying the nearby animal sighting to hikings.
Pros:

The location is perfect!! Serene , quiet, and perfect for nature getaway.

Cons:

Being such an expensive and high end hotel, apparently the staff was only allowed to give two water bottles per day to room and not more than that which is weird.
