Had a few mosquitos in the room. Can't really be avoided here (like any tropical lacation).
Location is perfect: spacious and clean rooms right inside the walls of the Colonial Zone. Free parking available, although there are only a few spots. Nice outdoor pool. Breakfast included — not very abundant or varied, but the food is good. Check-out at 12:00.

Best location on the colonial zone. Right next to the Ozama Fort. Beautiful extensive areas. The hotel is comprised of a few buildings or houses joined together to form the whole hotel. It feels as big as a cruise ship. And again, it is in the colonial zone. You can walk around and enjoy the area up until very late at night. The weekends are just wonderful with the area full of activity, restaurants, music and a lot of locals all enjoying the area as well. Plenty of good restaurants and clubs around. Museums and a lot to visit walking around the town.
I asked for late check out and was offered to pay $10 an hour. They do keep a secure luggage storage but a couple of complimentary hours to use the room after paying $1k for 5 nights would have been appreciated.

Hotel is centrally located if you want to be in the Capital. One of the reasons we have come here over the years is the antique authentic cultural touches all throughout the hotel and the safety. The beds were comfortable and the doormen were very nice and helpful.
I was traveling with my elderly mother, and unfortunately, the layout of the room was not suitable for her. There were three steps leading to the bathroom with no railing to hold on to, which posed a safety risk. On our last day, she fell on those stairs.
Additionally, we paid for breakfast in advance, but the experience was very disappointing. The food was cold, lacked variety, and was not of acceptable quality. When we raised our concerns to the waitress and to the front desk, we were told the charges would be waived; however, at checkout, we discovered that they had not been removed.
Furthermore, our room was not cleaned for two days despite having the sign displayed and making direct requests to the housekeeping staff. It was not until we got management involved that our room was finally cleaned.
We checked out around 4:30 AM, and the front desk attendant was asleep behind the desk and initially reluctant to provide us with a printed statement. After insisting, I received a copy and noticed charges for the in-room bar, which we were previously told by staff and housekeeping was included (DO NOT CONSUME ANYTHING IN THE ROOM).
We were unable to resolve the issues of the breakfast and mini bar charges before departure with the front desk since one the man that was working seemed bothered we woke him up from his sleep and was being short with us, and two because we had to leave for the airport and were told the manager would not be available until 9:00 AM.
Overall, the number of inconveniences we experienced significantly impacted our stay. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I would not choose to stay here again.
La piscine, l'emplacement, le charme de l'établissement
Nous avons réservé pour le jour-même, pour une nuit, pour une famille de 4, avec deux enfants trop jeunes pour dormir seuls. Il ne restait que deux chambres, Deluxe Impériale, ce que nous avons réservé (pour un tarif très élevé), et une Suite Impériale mais visiblement ne pouvant contenir que 3 personnes. A notre arrivée, j'ai expliqué au réceptionniste que j'aurais aimé la Suite, si toutefois nous pouvions y dormir à 4.
Il m'a alors indiqué qu'il solutionnait le problème en nous logeant dans un appartement, avec 2 chambres. Que nous y serions merveilleusement bien, qu'il y avait de l'espace (ce qui n'était pas ma requête). Il m'a demandé si je voulais voir avant de valider, mais que je ne serais pas déçue. Mon conjoint va voir la chambre et revient en me disant que c'est OK en effet en terme de sécurité pour dormir avec nos enfants, mais que l'appartement n'est pas au niveau de standing attendu. Nous étions fatigués, il faisait chaud, nous voulions profiter un peu de la (magnifique) piscine, alors j'ai validé la chambre en me disant que c'était le style colonial, et que cela aurait son charme.
Je demande le tarif de l'appartement : pile le même que celui des 2 chambres Deluxe Impériale. Tout de même très étrange...Et sans le petit-déjeuner...
Nous nous sommes retrouvés au niveau -3 sous le rez de chaussée, au fond d'un couloir sombre et humide, avec deux chambres qui étaient très loin du niveau Deluxe Impérial. Mais tant pis, j'assume, j'ai dit oui.
Cependant, la nuit a été catastrophique, un bruit de moteur incessant (malgré toutes les climatisations éteintes), + un bruit constant causé par un énorme tuyau d'évacuation d'eau dans la cour sur laquelle la chambre donne, + côté route évidemment, donc un bruit épouvantable. Boule quies + oreillers inutiles.
