Lovely building. Lovely helpful staff
It was the hottest day during heatwave and no air con but couldn’t fault the staff. They were wonderful
The entire hotel is tired and grubby
Comfy bed
Letto molto comodo, bar accogliente, parcheggio disponibile (ma a pagamento).
Strada per arrivare alla camera moooolto lunga e con vari livelli senza ascensore
Lovely property, clean and near tram stop for easy access to the centre
Unfortunately I booked a family room for 4 but when we got to our room we only had 3 beds! Told receptionist who said they don’t have any more family rooms so we had to be split up in two separate rooms. Staff also didn’t know the area so unable to offer advice on how to get to places or what was near.
Big bed and one helpful receptionist
Spider in the toilet so clearly not cleaned properly , hardly any toilet paper and no hand wash in the container , sink plug would not work
Booked a ground floor room due to having an operation yet in arrival told arrival was by means of stairs or a long walk to back of hotel , really not helpful
One girl on reception had no clue , told us that the room would be serviced even though note in room said it was extra cost but it wasn’t done . Failed to provide room service menu despite asking for it . Couldn’t provide small bottle of Prosecco even though it was on drinks menu
Great parking for work vehicles. Room was clean.
It’s too hot, even in winter. We have stayed numerous times because of the parking. There is no air conditioning and the heating is centrally controlled, snacks melted to liquid it was so hot and that was winter. I had the only room with AC(202) during a heat wave which didn’t work and nobody at reception had the means to do anything about it.
Parking readily available, though annoyingly had to pay extra for this. Breakfast was fine, nothing special. Staff at the breakfast room were kind and refilled my water bottle. I stayed in the long corridor building on the side of the grounds, rather than the main building. It was very plain and not very clean/ bugs in the room. I advise to book a room in the main building if possible.
The heating is controlled by reception. It was difficult to get hold of someone at times (more than once had a 30 mins wait at the reception desk). When I asked to turn heating on/off they would first claim I am wrong have not waited long enough, then on arriving to my room confirm that indeed it did have an issue. Most of my stay was spent extremely stuffy and hot due to issue with heating and windows not able to be open. I could not sleep throughout the night.
Another issue is during my stay of a few days, not one single staff came to make up my room/clean it/empty the bins- despite leaving a sign on the door asking for it. When I called reception about it, they said cleaners have gone home (despite it being only lunchtime) and they still didn't offer rectify it.
I felt patronised and forgotten when staying here. I had booked this hotel to stay in whilst sitting exams at a location nearby but in the end, I had such an uncomfortable stay that I honestly wished I had booked somewhere else as I could not study/revise at the desk in this room as it was unpleasant to spend any time in.
The overall ambiance and the cleanliness.
The place was too warm and there was a tiny fan and no open windows for proper ventilation.
Characterful entrance, bar and dining room (JRR Tolkien Blue Plaque).
We took rooms in the 1970s extension at the rear (long corridors). Rooms were large by modern standards.
Not modern decor, but all very clean & tidy. Staff helpful.
Nothing
Lovely old hotel - comfortable and characterful
Loved the terrace
Handy location - out of centre but suited our plans
Bar could be open more - we found a dearth of availability of teas and soft drinks during the day
It’s very run down
Amazing staff, super clean and spacious room, delicious breakfast with varieties of food. The location is great too, very close to the city center. Gated parking.
Nothing!
