Caused Injuries but nobody bothered
Pros:

This is the email that was sent to them and treated with such urgency or importance that it wasn't replied in 3 days.

Good Evening.

I feel I need to put pen to paper and inform you of the horrendous and dire stay i have just resulting in injury of which nobody was around to report this to. I would add that this year I have achieved Diamond status so that’s a lot of hotels I’ve stayed at your chain as well as others, and this was by far the worst…again

Let’s start at the beginning.

Check in

I was part way through checking in, when the guy behind the counter just turned away and walked into the back area leaving my stood there like an idiot. He came back 2/3 minutes later and handed some money to his colleague. He continued to check my in noting my Diamond Status and asking which amenity I would require.

I went to the room, which for some reason was an accessible room, which doesn’t bother me, but was it was not what I had booked, nor did I get any form of upgrade.

The room.

The room was one of those odd rooms with a connecting door, again I wasn’t informed of this, I could hear everything from the room next door.

The desk chair was wobbly and wouldn’t move properly.

The desk lamp was broken it would not work.

The bathroom door on the bathroom side was filthy.

I took a shower, (this was after dinner), the temperature was mild, I turned the temperature slightly and I mean slightly and Immediately I got burned with scalding hot water, as I had no method of escape, I switched the temperature to cold. At the same time as this I slipped (due to try to escape the heat), I banged my back on the way down as well as my left wrist and right foot.

I was then laid in agony until I could move getting covered In ice cold water. ( had I not been able to flick the temperature i would have been scalded as the water was that hot).

I managed to get out of the shower and dried before getting into bed freezing cold.

This morning I have a severely bruised right foot and sprained left wrist, including a very sore back.

Dinner.

I went to the bar and waited over 5 minutes before someone came, i ordered my drink to be told well I haven’t any ice! Would you like me to get some? I (and others) waited again for what seemed an age before anyone came back. I also ordered some food. I asked the guy to give my room a call when it was ready and I would come and collect it as the bar was pretty full. Half an hour later, I went investigating where the food was, and the barman came to me and said oh I have been looking for you as I did not write your room number down!

So he went and got the food from the kitchen, with no condiments in it just the cutlery. The peas were frazzled the chips you could tell had been left a while as they were lacking their glow and were just warm enough to eat. The bacon chop was however lovely. There was also a post it note stuck t, the till saying card only. If you are refusing to take the coin of the realm, then you need to tell people in booking in. I am a sole trader and most of my business is cash, so that is what I use. I would have had another 3/4 double gins but I couldn’t as you won’t accept my money.

Due to my back I didn’t sleep that well.

Breakfast

This was good, lovely croissants.

Checkout

I went to the counter to checkout and get my bill. I was there for 9 minutes and nobody had arrived. It was my intention to report all this to whoever checked me out, but as nobody came I couldn’t even report it.

I also needed to check the invoice was correct prior to giving my card, and getting the invoice. Can you send this so I can check its come from the correct account and it is accurate?

I look forward to hearing your comments on this matter in due course.

Parking rip off - be careful
Pros:

I visited for a business lunch. I was only there 1hr 25mins, had some food and drinks. Didn't see any parking signs and nevet gave it a thought as it's in the middle of nowhere. Two weeks later, £100 parking fine arrived. I'll be sure to never use this, or any other Holiday Inn again. Enjoy your £100.

Poor management and unhelpful staff
Pros:

Very bad customer service at this hotel. Paid for my stay through another booking site, only to realise they also took money for my stay without my knowledge. Trying to get a refund is nigh on impossible. Called hotel several times waiting for management to get back to me but they never do. Very unhelpful staff and extremely poor management. Avoid this hotel if you’ve paid through another booking site!

Had to file a police report after an expensive item was taken from our room
Pros:

Had to report theft of an item from the hotel room to the police. The item was taken after leaving the room locked so assume the room was accessed by someone with a key. The hotel staff have so far been unhelpful.

Pros:

Problem at check in was quickly resolved. Firstly card key didnt work then when we gained access there was someone already using the room. Reception staff dealt with the problem quickly apologising and giving us another room and also 2 free drinks. Staff in bar/food area were very attentive.
Transport access is an issue at the moment as direct access from the M1 is unavailable. This is beyond the control of the hotel but should be highlighted when booking.

Don't stay here!
Pros:

Dirty room with dust and cobwebs on the sprinkler heads in the room, stains of the carpet and chairs. Dirty and dusty air conditioner outlets. Sticky carpet, greasy bed sheets.

Health and safety nightmare avoid at all costs
Pros:

Health and safety nightmare!! Do not stay here at all costs.
Room was filthy, smoke detector covered with bag meaning it won’t work if a fire breaks out and room left with dirty pillows. House keeping know there is an issue and have set up a WhatsApp group to discuss the issues but have said it makes not difference. Was told I could leave the hotel but wouldn’t get my money back for the room. Was also told I would get a certain amount of points but never got them. Avoid avoid avoid

Pros:

Advertising a king bed which is actually two single beds pushed together and acting if that is normal is not acceptable.

Hotel needs an upgrade
Pros:

This hotel amenities were as advertised. However the hotel could go with an upgrade - the usual Holiday Inn experience. The seating area outside for meals had very dirty tables. The food was mediocre. The chairs in the dining room were falling to places, and the window frames looked like they were about to fall out of the building. Having said that - the rooms were clean. Location was convenient.

Pros:

Stayed here last night (19/7)....

General hotel is looking tired....a 2, 3 star hotel at best!!!!

Room was basic.... no bedside tables and no plug sockets besides the bed, whilst this wasn't a problem for phone charging etc, it WAS a problem for a Cpap machine which was required for overnight sleeping.... we asked for a LONG extension cable so we could plug in from the other side of the room.....the extension cable provided was probably 2m long (not long enough, so we had to 'daisy chain' with one that we fortunately had, thus causing a trip and h&s hazard)....it also took 3/4 hours from asking for that to be brought to our room too, and we had to remind them as we needed to go to bed early for an early start!!!

Beds I suppose were comfy, but windows barely opened, so was hot, and air con unit did very little other than make a noise!!!

Bathroom was functional, but sealant in shower area very poor and had just been reapplied over and over again (thick)!!!

Doors banging at 5am, which I presume were 'in house' staff getting up for morning duties, with clearly no regard for sleeping guests!!!

Communal stairs looked like they had not had a proper clean for months!!

Cleaning in reception, bar area etc, inc hoovering and mopping floors going on at 730/800am when guests are walking over to go to breakfast, thus creating yet more h&s hazards.... why on earth this is not done overnight when guests are sleeping is beyond me!!

Breakfast.... well, one of the WORST breakfasts I have EVER encountered at a hotel....cups are FLITHY.....Frosties and coco-pops are not branded (tasted like cheap nasty alternatives), and frosties were stale....Cumberland sausage, no idea what it was, but it certainly wasn't Cumberland.... bacon had a strange taste....scrambled egg was rubbery....fried bread, crisp to say the least having been sat under the hot lamps for god knows how long....toaster is a traditional 'house style' toaster that looks years old....A guest had clearly ordered a 'room service' breakfast, which was served up (in front of me) from the 'hot lamp buffet', not 'freshly cooked' as I personally would expect.... restaurant manager (I presume) has no idea how to speak to staff, quite rudely in front of guests and then when the staff member clearly felt uncomfortable coming over to our table, she (the manager) came over and swiped them off our table without asking if everything was ok, which had she done, she'd have been told as above....

It's a shame, as the hotel has the ability to be really nice, but needs some serious investment and needs downgrading from the 4 star it's advertised as till it has been refurbished.... its stealing clients money in making them think they're getting a 4 star!!!

We dined out at the Indian called Pately in a nearby village, that was lovely and the best part of the stay!!!

Pros:

This is a lovely hotel in the quiet part of Milton Keynes despite being so close to the motorway. My only slight criticism is that some of the rooms are in need of a refresh of their furniture. The chairs in one room were scruffy and was an actual conference type dining room chair rather than a relaxing comfortable one. The breakfast was brilliant and we had more than enough choice and allergies well catered too.
