The way my situation was handled at Sofitel Warsaw Victoria hotel is not just unprofessional, it is dismissive & belittling. It’s everything that stands against hospitality industry as such.
I booked the hotel for a weekend to celebrate a personal occasion with my husband & our dog. On the way to the hotel (literally on the way - with suitcases and all!) our dog was attacked and we had to go to the urgent veterinary care. Under all the stress of the situation we found ourselves in, I still contacted the hotel and asked if it was possible to change the dates of our stay (not even cancel, just change) due to this horrific and unpredictable event. The hotel agreed in written (!!!)to change the dates if we contacted the 3rd party app, which handled the reservation, within one hour. We did as they said — there were absolutely no questions from the 3rd party. In fact, they handled our matter with care and respect and all the appropriate words. However, the next week they updated me that it was the hotel that did NOT reply to their official request to change the dates (it had to be done on their side) and when I asked the hotel representatives, why so, they lied to me saying that the 3rd party app did NOT contact them. But after I provided an official proof that they DID (the 3rd party confirmed it in written), the hotel representatives… stopped replying to me. Yes, it’s not a joke — a five-star hotel stopped replying to their guests that merely tried to get some visibility on the situation to make plans accordingly. They do not even provide a response to public reviews. When I called, my calls were constantly redirected and all people that could “help” were suddenly “very busy” and “could not call me back”.
The thing is — if my request to change the dates was immediately declined with respect and at least a hint of sorrow for our situation, I would understand. I would also understand if they said there was a “misunderstanding” of some sort. There are professional ways to navigate it. I’ll tell you more: we thought of booking this hotel for another, better time, ourselves, if our request would have been declined with respect and empathy. We were not pushy at the time of the initial request, we were deeply worried & upset and any clear-cut answer would have been sufficient (we were concerned about our dog above everything at that moment!). But the way they did not even write “sorry”, fed us false promises at a moment of distress, lied and avoided clear communication, which made us go through all the apparently unnecessary hustle, is way below a 5-star rating and even borderline cruel. We spent the whole week waiting for their feedback. It’s the first time ever I face such an attitude from any business.
Service starts before guests arrive to your premises. And this establishment failed miserably.
Sofitel Warsaw Victoria is a big NO and a 1-star from me. I do not recommend it to anyone, with and without pets, as empathy, respect and professional communication here are just obviously non-existent.

Lubię ten hotel. Fajna, nienachalna obsługa, zawsze pomocna. Od recepcji po centrum Spa. No i łóżka, które nie mają konkurencji... najwygodniejsze.
Pokoje już nadszarpnięte zębem czasu. Nie podoba mi się brak miniatur kosmetyków. Niestety, już 3 raz nocuję powyżej 2 dób, a mimo to zawsze brakowało balsamu do ciała w dozowniku. Totalnie zawsze.
