Pool good. Rest disappointing.
Pool and hotel position excellent, but hotel falsely advertises, and is run down
The location is very good
There is no parking, and the parking close to hotel very expansive (360 for day and a half)
The desk and the staff were very friendly and helpful
The lift! Oh the lift! Terrible, extremely slow, and on Saturdays there is only 1.
The rooms were ok, nothing special, looks a bit old.
The pool was okay, bit crowded.
To sum it up:
I would choose a better place to stay, but the right price - i would go back (and that price is no more then 150$ per night)
Chambre salle pas de clim
Hotel is terrible. The room was really small. Poor breakfast. Slow elevator. Old building. Staff was really nice and helped us check out early than planned.
The staff is excellent and the Israeli breakfast in the morning are really good. The building itself is not in great condition. It’s seriously needs renovation. There is a smell in the air that is really unpleasant. The hotel tries to cover it up with some very strong air fresheners, but it’s still unpleasant. Also, there is a pool there is a spa however the pool closed early we went there and the spa was not open.
Don't waste your time or money here. The Leonardo Gordon Beach markets itself as a luxury hotel but is more like a Motel 6. Room smells moldy and is not clean. There is no actual hotel parking BUT, there is "private" parking on site but its a scam for tourists. They charge $75 USD per day, its cash only and wont give you a receipt. (They dont charge the locals half that much. I asked a local.) The AC doesn't work in most of the rooms, the maintenance guy is rude and dismissive. Had to call front desk twice, and only after waiting almost 2 hours did he show up. When he did show up, he was there for less than 2 min and acted like he was doing a favor. He opened the access panel, mold and dust came out on a cloud. He said, "Keep the door closed you will be fine." It's 76 in the room.
cafards dans la chambre
Absence de serviettes 2 serviettes par jours on été 4 et nous avons bien payé pour 4 personnes
aucune propreté aucun service très très déçu
Horrible hotel, outdated, staff not responsive. Would not stay here again
The good:
The location is amazing, first line to the sea, Gordon beach is right out the door and Hilton beach is 3 min walking.
The pool is wonderful and the breakfast was great.
The bad:
The room was a true disappointment. It was not clean, we opened the curtains hoping for a view, 2e only got a concrete ramp FILLED with cigarette buds and trash. The shower handle was broken, no where to hang wet swim gear. We booked (and were charged) for a room of 4, I had to ask for towels 3 times, the sofa bed wasn't made, after asking for a few times we got a single sheet to lay on it, had to literally specifically ask for a blanket and pillows.
The parking - none. You have a private lot the costs 120 nis a day, no hotel reduction or you can park for less 20 min walking distance and then get a cab to the hotel. The overall feeling was dirty and old. Definitely not at par with the neighboring hotel.
I don't think I'll return, probably won't recommend either.
Booked a room for Shabbat. in the dining room, some crazy person was yelling at the hotel employees for not breaking kosher and not taking dairy food for a meat dinner. Although the websites wrote that the hotel was kosher and he should have known that kosher is not violated. and no one removed him from the hall, and I cannot call this normal, since my wife and I came to spend Shabbat in silence, but we had to hear the screams of a madman
Location location location - that’s the main experience you’ll get here
The hotel is in an old building, it’s evident in everything around you, from the corridors to the rooms
We’ve upgraded to an Delux room, we got a 9 x 3m room with a partial view to the beach, the bed is quite small
The breakfast is just okay, can’t be compared to the main chain hotels
On the other hand, it’s just located on the beach, from the hotel directly to the Tayelet/beach, absolutely great location - if you want to sleep and shower and enjoy Tel-Aviv and eat outside, this is a great location
One top, I called in advance and asked about parking, I was told that there are different parking so I’ve obviously parked in the closest parking - Kikar Atarim, do not make my mistake - it’s ludicrously expensive, you’re better parking at Reading and take a taxi or walk
The hotel's renovation makes it look weird - It's all pink!
I got into the room and there we're no towels - I asked and they sent some.
Elevators stopped operating a couple of times.
This is hotel for easy goers and flexible people not very demanding. I had great expectations as it belongs to recogmized Leonardo chain but I was wrong. The pink building surrounded by pink walls andl facilities is perfect only for Barbie. Besides it is almost impossible to find the entrance even fot experienced taxi drivers. There is a decadent atmosphere around the immediate neighborhood . The breakfast was extremely expensive and I decided to have it elsewhere. The apt twas very small and the only view was of pigeons over the roof. Ok, I admit the location is great but that iis it .
Very good hotel. Situated next to the sea. We were supposed to have a regular room and got a sea view. Clean rooms. Very good service a specially the men who lets you on the breakfast. Good waiters. Big and nice roof pool with nice life guard. Good drinks. Large selection of tasteful breakfast. We got a wine as a gift. It was time great time spend here.
We paid 200 euro a night for this below average hotel that's literally falling apart.
Let me add context, we live in Brussels, Europe's most expensive capital after Amsterdam. For 200 euro in Brussels you can stay at the 4 star Warwick Brussels, the 4 star Harmon House, in Amsterdam you can stay at the 4 star innside by Milea Hotels.... You get the idea. All these included weekend peak prices.
So what's so bad.....
1. The hotel is literally falling apart, see the pictures.
2. The staff don't like foreigners, that's very evident because service is NON EXISTENT - from checking in to asking questions... Zero, just attitude (e.g. when we checked in we explained to the boy on front desk, ego spent more time worrying over his appearance than looking after us, that our cases had been lost and we had no clothes or toiletries and where could we find one please "there are lots" was what we got - not helpful)
3. They must have a deal with taxi companies as according to reception going anywhere, (old port, Azreili mall, Hacarmel market) required a taxi, also the only way to buy bus passes is at tourist offices, so we're Belgian, we don't do just paying money out, we walked 15-20 mins to Azreili mall and got the transport ticket. Uber is non existent, which again tells me that it's a price fixing scam.
4. It's just a basic hotel in desperate need of renovation and improvement - the rooftop pool is just bad, a basic fibreglass tub stuck on the roof with badly installed decking around it. 10 nis or 2.70 euro for a coke!
5. If you like your hotel on the beach, yep this has that, but God help you if your room is roadside, as the front of the hotel is under/in the concrete main road! Also midweek parties that go on until 5am are a thing.
6. The walls are toilet paper thin, you can hear every other room, everything sand for a light sleeper this is a problem.
7. LGBTQIA+ - THERE'S A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ACCEPTANCE (which they don't) AND TOLERANCE (barely, in-between judgment and sniggering) this hotel and Israel has far to go to match Belgium, Netherlands, even Malta.
Not worth the money, but as they make you pay up front you can't leave, you're stuck with it.
You've been warned, the rest is up to you.
In my 35 years of extensive travel, I have never experienced such poor service from a hotel as I have with the Gordon Beach Hotel in Tel Aviv.
Without going into great detail (as so many things were sub-standard and went wrong, it would be almost impossible to relate all the bad experiences), the hotel failed to make up our room for almost 2 days-to the extent that we opted to move out until it was addressed.
Despite us approaching the manageress (Dorit)in this regard, she failed to take our word that his was the case. The hotel's room cleaner lied & claimed that the room was made. We requested they refer to the hotel's cameras to prove we were not lying-once the manageress had done so, we were moved to another room and promised to be compensated-we never were & she did her best to avoid returning our calls and attempts to get her to make good on this major inconvenience!
Attempts to get hold of the hotel's PR manageress also proved futile on multiple occassions-refusing to call us back?
In addition, the new rooms automated key system did not work. We had to walk back downstairs several times to get the hotel's security to open the door (as no-one answers the hotels phones, whether calling from internally or externally-recurring theme?). Again, re the door issues, we have "proof" of this on video & again, the hotel could care-less..
Attempts to get extra towels were simply ignored on numerous occasions & the hotel room cleanliness is sub-par to say there least.
After having posted terrible reviews on booking.com, someone made contact with us from the hotel & said they would revert-they never did? I again, contacted them back several times-again ignored..
I managed to get hold of the hotel manageress's e mail address, and again, despite e-mailing her numerous times in an attempt to be re-imbursed for having to move out to another hotel, all emails have & continue be ignored.
Attempts to get hold of the hotel chain's (Fatlal Hotels) PR side havre also proved futile..
It is hard to believe that one could experience the above and then some in a recently renovated upscale hotel.
I highly recommend the hotel be avoided as they simply could not give a damn about their guests!
