Monte Kristo Hotel

Great location but builders working next door daily....the breakfast was horrendous and inedible....we didnt bother for the final 2 nights...it was really that bad

My room was old style chic , equipped with AC and even a fan! Pillows and mattress were comfy. Staff was extremely kind and the included breakfast excellent. The pancakes or crepes were superb . It is a cosy boutique hotel in the historical centre close to Riga Landmarks I recommend it

The Monte Kristo hotel is located in the old town and walking distance to all attractions. We were greeted warmly by the girl at the front desk. The room was spacious and the bed comfortable. The breakfast had a variety of items. Our only complaint about the Hotel Monte Kristo is how dated it is. It really could use a good renovation. The carpets were quite dirty and old and the room seemed very gloomy due to the dark colours and design of the curtains and bedspreads.

It was a terrible hotel. Elevator can not go to the floor which you stay. Need carry luggage by yourself. The rm has strong toilet smell. The carpet is so dirty that you do not have words to describe. Totally terrible hotel

Excellent location in Riga’s old town.
Hotel is simple but fine, all necessary amenities but breakfast was disappointing.

Love the ambience. Quirky decor. Had aamenities that we needed. Great staff.

We decided to do a kind of ex-tempore trip to the Baltic countries by car during our Christmas holiday forabout 3 weeks. This hotel was chosen only because it was reasonable price and in Riga, where we headed to. This hotel has a parking place for a car deal but it is a bit far. It is an open space parking but had a guadrian and cameras.

The hotel is a bit "Soviet union old style". Breakfast was included to the price. Breakfast was... kind of interesting. It looked like eggs but also maybe salad, fish etc. from the previous dinner? The breakfast "cellar" is very small and you have to queue to make your own coffee or pour a glass of concentrated juice.

Our room had a bath with a shower curtain slightly molded.

Location of the hotel is great. There are several nice restaurants close by and it is located in a reasonable walk distance to discover the old city, food market etc.

Very helpful and informative staff. Hotel in great location in Old Town near market, train and bus station.

Great stay

This hotel is quite close to the train station, so can save hauling your luggage over cobblestones of old Riga, and it’s cheap. The building, rooms and amenities are very dated, not nice. It’s hard climbing into the tub, because it is so high, and took forever to drain. The front desk person has some nasty attitude, and the breakfast restaurant is dungeon-like; food was ok.

Nice, clean, in the middle of the old town, the breakfast was okay with a lot of variation and with something different for everyone. The staff were friendly and spoke okay English. The cleaning was good, the rooms where cleaned everyday. Water in shower was hot. The beds were nice

An excellent location at the edge of the old town and close to the new part. The breakfast was very good. Very easy check in and the room was ready when we arrived

Very convenient Old Town location with almost everything walkable. The hotel is old fashioned and perhaps a bit tired in some parts, but very charming. The rooms are big enough with decent storage, and the bathroom was excellent, although the shower over the bath might present a problem for some. Breakfast had a reasonable variety of hot and cold food, but some items were occasionally missing and the coffee machine was not particularly user friendly. Minor points not detracting from a good 9 day stay.

• The location is undoubtedly great! We just walked to the hotel from the bus station. Despite the nearby train and tram lines, I found the place quiet, perhaps because of the season. Otherwise, the summer terrace under the windows could add some noise.
• The hotel has an antique design and quit a cozy vibe, especially the room's dark tones.
• The personnel were friendly and polite. They let us check in earlier, which was quite comfortable for us.
• The bed is comfortable. I appreciate that it was a king-size mattress, not the two mattresses put together, as usual. Speaking of mattresses, ours was relatively good, meaning we didn't have sore backs in the mornings.

Disliked
• I personally didn't like that the room was quite dark in the daylight. The light itself was kind of dark in the room. I would appreciate the brighter light at least in the bathroom.
• Also, from the corridor, I could hear the working vacuum cleaner.
• The electric appliances, such as the hair dryer and sockets and switches, are located in the bath zone, which is undoubtedly hazardous.
• I think that the bathtub wasn't crispy clean. And the drain didn't work well, even when showering.

We had a fantastic stay at this hotel. Staff could not have been more helpful or friendly. Services including restaurant were excellent. Would happily stay again. Staff were very accommodating and allowed us to store our luggage throughout the day. Also location is ideal
