The room was exceptionally clean and the bed very comfortable. An unexpected bonus to our visit was the excellent choice of restaurants next door to the hotel located in Leopold Square. The hotel is located in the city centre making it easy to explore what Sheffield has to offer.
The unexpected bonus mentioned above had a downside to it, namely the noise. One of the restaurants was very noisy. On Thursday the noise lasted from 9pm-midnight. On Friday from 9pm-2am. Even with the window closed, the noise was reaching unacceptable levels. Apart from the noisy neighbour, our stay was very enjoyable and would certainly recommend. Just make sure when booking, ask for a room that isn’t overlooking Leopold Square.
Central location
Loud music until 2am prevented a good night’s sleep
Enjoyed the traditional hotel decadence within the reception area. Staff were kind and attentive.
The breakfast area didn’t feel as luxurious as the rest of the hotel.
The room was clean, spacious and the bed was super comfy. I slept very well and the breakfast many options all of which were excellent. I enjoyed my stay and will book it again.
Everything
Nothing.
Good location
It isn’t a good hotel for business travellers- difficult parking arrangements, very little desk space and the only chair is unsuitable to work from, very few coat hangers and none with working clips for skirts/trousers, poor lighting to get ready in the morning. Thankfully I only needed to be there for one night but for a longer stay, it would not have worked.
Friendly, helpful staff. Our Deluxe King Room (115) was ground floor, split level and nicely appointed. Everything worked and there were two USB sockets. The large bed was easily the comfiest we have ever had in a hotel, and we are really, really picky about mattresses! No problems with street noise on our one-night stay during Easter (Wed/Thu). In the evening, we ate at Piccolino's in the city centre and enjoyed a 10% Leopold discount and a free glass of prosecco. Lots of places to eat right on the doorstep. Breakfast in the basement downstairs was good quality - buffet style, help yourself - the best scrambled eggs I've ever tasted from a buffet! They even had decaf tea bags and Marmite sachets which delighted me. All in all a great stay in a lovely city. Would return.
Subsidised hotel car parking had changed to Pennine Five Car Park but we hadn't been informed in advance and had parked at Rockingham Street Car Park instead. We only found out when we arrived at the hotel; by then it was too late because we'd incurred parking fees already. So we ended up overpaying for parking.
Really nice room, friendly staff and great location.
Not the best breakfast for the quality of the hotel and in a very small room. Coffee machine only gave out half a cup, fruit salad was tired and limited, lack of range of cereals (cornflakes or bran), pastries were nice.
It is a lovely quirky hotel and the staff were all very friendly and helpful.
Excellent communication
Room was described as Deluxe- I found it to be average. Trying to sit on the bed and watch the tv was very uncomfortable and to sit on the chair even moved nearer the bed, it would have been too close. Whilst there was a warning on the door and the message I got (as I was arriving after 7pm) as to how I could collect the key mentioned to mind the steps, I found the steps immediately inside the door were quite unexpectedly steep. Furniture had marks on etc. Possibly maybe in process of updating if not to maintain the description DELUXE definitely requires it.
Beautiful building with history. Easy access to local amenities and transport. Friendly and helpful staff.
One minor thing we was based at the back of the property and could overhear the nightclub/bars but wasn’t an issue as got in late the second night.
Beautiful building with history. Easy access to local amenities and transport. Friendly and helpful staff.
