Bed was very comfy. Breakfast was decent. Staff were pleasant. Location was perfect.
The split-level room was bizarre -- could have worked if it had been geared for it, but it was not. For instance, the ceiling lights for both levels were controlled by a single switch on the ground floor, so if one person was still sleeping upstairs, the person downstairs couldn't have a light on! And there were no lamps, or a sofa, or much else to make the downstairs comfortable -- it's a large but empty space. Another example: it was winter and the windows were VERY drafty, but as the thermostat was downstairs and the heating vent was upstairs the downstairs never really warmed up and the upstairs got way too hot for sleeping. The cheap decor was awful, throughout the hotel but especially in the room. Car park was a 5-10 minute walk away.
Great location for Sheffield concerts . Lots of history in the building
Nothing
Good breakfast
More choices for the eggs v
Good location , good restaurants , bars cafes etc on the doorstep
Nothing we didn’t like
Very good breakfast, staff were very helpful and the hotel was very clean, bed was by far the comfiest I think I have ever slept in.
The room was quite dated and basic for the price. Not much in way of drinks on arrival.
It was at the same venue as my exam.
location
lack of slippers, shower curtain
Location was perfect. Within walking distance of the crucible and lots of bars and restaurants
The night time noise. We booked a room away from the square but there were bars opposite the hotel which had loud music. Also you could not open the windows for fresh air but there was air con. Did not realise we had to pay extra for breakfast which was quite basic.
The staff were extremely friendly and the location is spot on for being in the city.
The fact that the mezzanine suite could do with a spruce up a bit as it lacks facilities such as a basic charging socket.
Also I couldn't have a bath which was disappointing because the plug appeared to be broken.
Little problems get fixed and then it will be getting more stars from me.
Before I left I had breakfast at the hotel which I was happy with the variety on offer.
Easy check-in
Parking was advised in the email as QPARK but when we parked there and walked to the hotel they told us this wasn't the recommended car park and more and discount wasn't available anymore.
Nearly everything: lovely buildings, delicious breakfast, great location, friendly staff, interesting photos on the wall referencing history as a school, nice public spaces to sit in. Helpful to have early check-in and left luggage.
I was very cold in my room (huge windows) - it was Rm 128 I think, the 'Headmaster"s Study'. Used the electric heater all night, still cold in the morning.
Think I was allocated this room as it was just the next number to my friend's room 127, but it wasn't next door, in fact it took us a while to even find Rm 128 (downstairs then upstairs on big staircase). I couldn't adjust temperature of water in bath/shower - very very hot bath so I had to wait ages for bathwater to cool down. And I couldn't undo plug in the bath, had to ask staff to assist.
Still grateful to have been checked in early though.
