Fabulous building. Staff were friendly & extremely helpful.
Great location. Wonderful shower.
Green teabags in the room!!!
We didn’t like the room we were allocated but rectified really quickly.
Parking is a bit of a pain Wednesday/Thursday.
The bed was comfortable and the pressure in shower was great. The room was very quiet and curtains thick kept the light out. The room was clean.
First impressions were a great disappointment. We had booked a cosy room at £265. I had expected something like the yellow room in the picture. Instead it looked really shabby. The wallpaper looked like wrapping paper had been put all over the walls and ceiling and it was torn in parts and uneven. The tv was on and the radio when we entered the room. The tea was hidden in the cupboard and only one teabag per person available. I hate uht milk and would expect more at this price. The handwash dispenser is very far from sink and it didn’t work in the shower. An almost finished toilet roll was left on toilet roll holder. We weren’t able to use the bar as there was a wedding party on our arrival. For dinner we had steak, no vegetables on the menu to go with it other than salad, this was very bland and old looking leafs. The steak itself was huge and nothing else on the plate other than chips. It’s not how you advertise this place. On arrival I was asked to hand over my credit card as it’s now all on Apple Pay , I had not brought one and I had already paid for the room . I don’t see the need for this and whilst the concierge was ok with it , it just sets a bad tone on arrival. The dining room is pained a dark colour to make it cosy but it really isnt. The beautiful wooden shutters had light sockets in them which ruined them. The lights looked like they were made of an old beige bedspread.
Friendly staff, high standards and personal service. Lovely place, beautifully designed and well looked after. Restaurant is great, good menu choices and again, great service.
The location, lovely reception. Staff were v helpful. I left something behind which was posted back to me.
Also breakfast was good.
We were told it would be a room with a street view and instead we got a room facing the back and the window was frosted out. It was a nice enough room and bathroom but not what I would expect for the money we paid - quite basic and decor looks a bit tired
Why are we subjected to Muzak whilst trying to enjoy a peaceful drink in the garden. It’s totally unacceptable and spoilt our experience.
Location, interiors overall hospitality. Excellent breakfast.
The standard double was a bit ‘cosy’. I personally didn’t like the pillows. The room was also warm so a fan would have been welcomed.
We have just popped in for some lamb. WOW what a fantastic all round service. The food was the best lamb. The two lovely girls at reception were so friendly. Our waiter Ruyman was outstanding. So so helpful. Can’t wait to come back again. Thank you
Fantastic night’s stay at The George. Beautiful room in the eaves - thank you to Madison for giving us a great room at short notice, really appreciated! Gorgeous bathtub, really strong, turbo charged water pressure in the shower and a super comfortable super king bed and well appointed retro-style furnishings made it a very chic stay, along with great verden products- we didn’t want to go home.
The breakfast was included and beautifully cooked, friendly team and wonderful ambiance. Lovely bar and shops all on your doorstep.
Dinner - Our only small suggestion - the scallop on the menu, could be a little larger, felt a little lonely! Waitress said it was calculated by weight, but nevertheless felt slightly slim pickings. The lamb and the beef were great.
It is a pub, so be prepared for a little noise at closing outside, if you are a light sleeper - it didn’t affect us but might do in summer months if windows are open.
Thank you, will be back!!
Perfect location, really charming and lovely property, friendly staff
Gorgeous interiors and lovely staff. Perfect central location for a few days exploring Rye. Really delicious breakfast too.
Unfortunately when we arrived they couldn’t locate our booking initially and then said it was only for 1 night… a stressful start! We were then taken to a double room, when I had pre booked a twin with single beds via Booking.com. Took over an hour to get a twin room ready for us. Toilet in new room was faulty and blocked twice.
Location, decor, staff friendliness, breakfast choices.
We had very little space to hang clothes in the bedroom.
My husband and I have a night away at The George every few months and always have a wonderful time. It is an escape to another world for us. I love the moment when we open the door to our room and are delighted by the beautiful decor. The rooms are luxurious (those crisp cotton sheets!) but also stylish, and not at all stuffy and formal. The staff are friendly but respectful, and the restaurant has a limited menu (which is what I want), and everything is tempting. In the morning, after I've used all the lovely smellies in the bathroom, I sit at the breakfast table and wish I could stay forever. I could happily eat their excellent breakfast and stare out of the window at beautiful Rye all day long.
Lovely room, great location.
It’s central location
Everything food and staff fantastic loved the sea shanty in the bar 👍👍
We loved everything
I've stayed here several times and always leave wanting to return again. It is a very soothing place - gorgeous decor, staff all very friendly and helpful, food is excellent too.
Some laundry and dirty crockery had been left overnight in the corridor by our room, which must have been an oversight but it ever so slightly detracted from an otherwise wonderful stay
Such a cosy place for a drink with different nooks and crannies to enjoy. We chose the squishy sofas and were a bit chilly so they lit the fire for us. Wine was good value and good selection of drinks. We didn’t eat but the food looked nice. Central to Rye, nice and clean, not too noisy so you can chat, all in all, good place.
Perfect location and beautiful room. Fantastic dinner in the George Grill with friends, expertly looked after by Ruyman. Great food, atmosphere and perfect service - well recommended!
