Everything food and staff fantastic loved the sea shanty in the bar 👍👍
We loved everything
I've stayed here several times and always leave wanting to return again. It is a very soothing place - gorgeous decor, staff all very friendly and helpful, food is excellent too.
Some laundry and dirty crockery had been left overnight in the corridor by our room, which must have been an oversight but it ever so slightly detracted from an otherwise wonderful stay
This is a lovely hotel in a great location for exploring beautiful Rye. We were a bit disappointed with our room which was right at the very top of the hotel, lots of stairs, and rather small. We booked a classic room and felt room 23 was perhaps more one of the hotels cozy rooms. The room was however very well appointed and the bed very comfortable but my husband couldn’t stand up or move easily near the window, he is tall but slim! Breakfast was good, service friendly and cocktails excellent. I would recommend the hotel but suggest discussing the size and location of rooms before booking.
Lovely characterful place, with lots of space and great decor in our room. Enjoyed views of the church from our window and high ceilings were appreciated by my tall partner! Staff all very helpful and friendly, breakfast was of good quality too.
Literally nothing!
I have stayed at The George before and always enjoyed the place. One issue this time though: at breakfast I ordered the Breakfast Toastie, with no sausage. What I was presented with was:
Half an untoasted English muffin.
A fried egg
A small pot of ketchup
That’s it!!!
The bread wasn’t toasted… so it wasn’t a toastie.
No cheese, as stated on the menu.
It was VERY underwhelming.
I was rushing out to work, so I ate it and left.
I will still stay at The George when I am next in the area, I just won’t order the breakfast toastie.

Quirky, clean, modern despite being an old coaching inn. Reception staff lovely
It was two or three times the price of any other hotel in or around Rye, not sure that premium was worth it
Amazing food. The restaurant maitre de was so wonderful (Spanish). Chefs were exceptional. Comfy beds. Room
A little dusty but forgivable. All round amazing experience.
Fresh milk in room or coffee machine
Thank you again for another wonderful meal. My partner and I have eaten here for our anniversary two years in a row, driving down from Cambridge just for the food & service!
Ruyman is a fabulous waiter and we were thrilled to be sat under his watch again, he’s such a friendly man and really makes the experience.
Food is 10/10, champagne is 11/10 and the service was 12/10.
See you soon!
Our room was perfect and the service from staff was incredible. Food in the restaurant was brilliant too. I loved being in the heart of Rye.
I can't really fault the place but I think breakfast could have been at the quality of the dinner service. It felt slightly lacking.
Room lovely breakfast 👍👍 staff polite and very helpful great will be back
Location and facilities
Breakfast was understaffed
Room was nice, we had a cosy double. Bed was comfortable. Location is right in the middle of town.
We were made to feel like a burden from the start to finish.
When we arrived, no one on check in - took 15 minutes to find staff - lots of bags completely unattended in the atrium. When they arrived they told me I'd stayed in the loading bay outside - 7 mins max. I told them I'd been waiting for them for 15 mins. I was then told 'good luck parking' absolutely no help, directions at all.
For breakfast - when I asked if i could order after waiting for 20 minutes, I was told a table of 17 had to be dealt with first. We then subsequently waited a further 20-30 minutes to order eggs.
For a few 100 GBP a night in off season - I expected more.
Beautiful hotel. Staff are so lovely and it has such a warm ambience. Our room was amazing and so clean. Breakfast was great and service excellent. Lovely at night in the bar and restaurant. Can’t recommend enough.
