The location was excellent for what we did and visited. We didn’t investigate public transport to and from the hotel as we did have our own transport. It’s about five miles to the small town of Peebles, about 10 miles to the Alpine coaster and a 45 minute drive to St Mary’s Loch.
The hotel is very quirky, our room was very comfortable and spacious.
All the staff were very helpful and friendly. We ate both nights in the restaurant and couldn’t fault the food or the service thanks to Sarah and her team. The reception staff all gave a friendly hello and made sure we were happy with our accommodation.
Beautiful building, the room we were staying in could do with a bit of an upgrade! Looks a bit tired, especially the bathroom.
The pool area is a bit of a disappointment.
Staff were extremely good and excellent food
Lift out of action and no air con, although there was a fan in the room
Location is beautiful and very peaceful. Staff were lovely and welcoming. We had dinner in the restaurant which was nice and breakfast in the morning with no complaints. .
Only very slight criticism is that rooms are getting a bit tired looking. That said it was excellent value for money, and the room was comfortable and very clean. I understand the hotel are in the process of gradually upgrading the rooms. Definitely we will go back.
Castle and sorounding were lovely.
Hotel requires refurbishment and breakfast needs review.
All good staff were lovely ,menu and food were delicious.
Catered for Gluten free meals is a plus for the boss.
Secure parking . Excellent facilities swimming pool and sauna.
Highly recommended. 😃
Noisy in the court yard ,trucks coming and going during the night.
Lift was out of commission .
These things happen . Hey ho
Leisure areas , bar and dining very comfortable .
Was put in room 514 , I’m 63 years old was and found it difficult to climb mountain of stairs ( was told there was no other rooms available ?? Hotel was not full ).
We were told that because there was a wedding on that day , we would have to wait up to 30 mins to get dinner??are paying customers not as important , as wedding guests ??.
Advertised as a hotel in Peebles but 5 miles outside Peebles ( hardly walking distance ).
The service from staff and the location
Carpets are a bit dated
Great welcome from the receptionist after a long drive. I was advised to bring hiking boots as it was a long walk to my bedroom on the 5th Floor... I suggested an OS map would be more appropriate! ;-) Joking aside, there is no lift.
Gorgeous setting and the facilities were superb. Spacious lounge and conservatory areas, outside dining, well stocked bar and a large dining area. Pool and sauna were also a welcome 'extra' after a long day. All in all, a definite must 'revisit'!
Not sure what to say actually as it was all good. The only 'downer' (?) was the long walk up 4 flights of stairs to the '5' series bedrooms! But once there, it was quiet and well fitted out.
The friendly staff, beautiful location. Outstanding food.
There was a wedding function on, but that not impact the service we received.
Nothing
Staff were exceptional - couldn't have done more. A lovely friendly atmosphere. Hotel grounds were beautiful and perfect for an after dinner stroll. We stayed for dinner, bed and breakfast and all meals were superb.
I don't think there's anything I would want to change!
The staff were very pleasant and helpful, nothing was too much, great service.
The walk to the room, too many stairs. Ii was in an attic room which was extremely hot
Every member of staff we encountered throughout our stay was friendly and helpful
Some of the breakfast items had been sitting out under the heat lamp for a while and were a bit hard and dried out
Views and history of the place
The lift was not working otherwise excellent facilities, that I did not have time to avail
Lovely building and grounds in great location. The Polush map of scotland in 3d was a bonus. Nice meals and ambience and great staff. V dog friendly. Thank you.
