Country club, the service there was great. The massage was great, pool was good and the food there was great.
Full English breakfast was average.
Absolutely beautiful, perfect English retreat
The house , ground and the staff were wonderful
Beautiful old mansion. Very large bedroom. Super comfy bed and pillows. Coffee machine. Staff were incredibly attentive and friendly. Fabulous pool, gym and country club. Beautiful walks on the property.
Late check in time of 3pm. Very expensive food and drinks. Furniture in bedroom felt a little shabby considering the price. Blind in bedroom was torn.
Locatie, voorzieningen en vriendelijk personeel
Geen AC, geen liften
Beautiful location and lovely staff.
No air conditioning and no lifts. There were many steps to climb which my elderly parents struggled with. Everything is hugely over priced. My dad bought 2 vodka tonics which cost more than £30!
Such an interesting story behind the hotel, beautiful grounds, lovely ambience, delightful staff.
Shower controls were exceptionally stiff. Two windows not able to open, although fan supplied was efficient thankfully.
Beautiful authentic old world hotel in exceptional grounds. Excellent helpful staff
Evening meal and breakfast very good
Outdated television in bedroom
The room was very spacious and comfortable. The location, grounds and views were lovely. Had a brief swim at the spa and time in the jacquizzi. The meal at the Forest Brasserie was good although issue with service charges and drinks. Breakfast was very good.
Service on arrival wasn't great - room wasn't ready (which we expected) but receptionist didn't tell us where to go/what we could do while we waited. We asked a waitress how to get out to the terrace, went for a walk in the grounds and when we came back in - was told by a waiter that the cocktail bar was closed and if we wanted a drink, we could try the terrace but to be VERY patient as they were busy serving food...managed to order 2 drinks on the terrace. After 10 minutes, were brought out my husband's pint of beer. Had to then wait another 10 minutes for her to bring my glass of wine 'sorry, we've just got really busy' - from a customer service point of view - serve both drinks together! Later went to the Forest Brasserie for a drink at 5.00pm was told the draft ale was off as barrel needed changing and to settle. Was then charged £15.50 for a glass of rose wine! I appreciate wine has a bigger markup in hospitality but that seemed very steep indeed - sat out on very small terrace there which was covered in leaves/cobwebs/used glasses. When we went back there later for dinner - draft ale was still off 3 hours later... Paid £42.00 for a very mediocre bottle of Pinot Grigio - again far too steep for what it was. Service and food in the restaurant was decent enough but to be charged a compulsory service fee was unnecessary - we took this off our bill and handed the waitress a cash tip instead. Overall, did not feel that the servie we received and some of the facilities warranted a 4 star rating. Was disappointed with the amount we had paid for our stay.
Beautiful hotel great location and lovely walks
I tripped on carpet and fell down a flight of stairs as the carpet and furnishings were tried.
Picnic was very small and no help to take it outside.
Staff were nice but service took a long time for any order.
The room was poor, coffee stains on the table window ledge. Bath was bleach stained, the throw and carpet had stains and ripped. I was very disappointed with the room.
Amazing hotel, brilliant facilities, fab location and we really enjoyed our stay in this outstanding and beautiful hotel
Needs better management- staff on reception, breakfast and facilities great. However less human resources on bar, tidying up,serving in afternoon poorly led. If you had a query, response positive but not followed up. Lacked leadership
Beautiful surroundings with great character and welcoming staff throughout.
Couldn’t really fault it.
The buildings, grounds and facilities.
Cooked breakfast was served a bit quick whilst still eating cold coarse etc.
