It was a prefect weekend getaway
Pros:

room was lovely, spacious and comfortable with large bathroom and great bed

Cons:

There are no bins around the property grounds, which are otherwise great for dog walks. Had to walk around all the way back to my room with a poop bag in my hand. Otherwise it is a dog friendly hotel

A really lovely stay, the staff were very well trained and obviously experienced so we were well & taken care of. Th
Pros:

So much character in the buildings, fascinating history but also very comfortable in every way. The grounds alone are superb, with huge specimen trees and lakes. The gardening team created lovely shrubberies and colourful pots and baskets everywhere. The grandeur of a stately home but a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The extensive grounds ensured a peaceful night’s sleep and the health club facilities were also good.

Cons:

Very little to criticise, in the extreme heatwave when we stayed some guests were surprised the bedrooms did not have aircon but the windows could all the opened to let in cool breezes at night.

Very nice stay but needs some refining to keep it feeling luxurious
Pros:

The location is phenomenal and we loved the period features and also the facilities

Cons:

We did notice food trays from room service with half eaten food and various bottles of half consumed drink still littering the corridors at 9pm. Well after the housekeeping staff had finished their work for the day which I don’t think gives a great impression (to be clear these same trays were there from when we checked in at 1pm to when we returned to our room around 9pm)

Wunderschön gelegenes Castle
Pros:

Wonderful stay at Ashdown Country Park Hotel
Pros:

Our room was fabulous because we were upgraded to a suite. It had everything we needed and more.
The huge bed was extremely comfortable and the en-suite had a jacuzzi bath as well as a shower.

Cons:

Our only disappointment was that we had booked for the highly recommended restaurant but it was closed so we were sent to the brasserie. The food was fine but not as special as we were hoping.
Having said that, the staff were amazing and worked non-stop.

Beautiful but a lot of walking & stairs to navigate
Pros:

Reception, concierge & lounge staff were very welcoming and eager to assist. Beautiful facilities, very grand. Rather like a castle. Very opulent. Stunning grounds.

Cons:

I had not booked ground floor room as I assumed there would be a lift. Upon realising that I could not easily manage stairs, reception kindly and gladly offered me a downstairs room. I found the distance and stairs to health suite and Brasserie to be a problem for me, and had not seen any warning of this but maybe I missed this.

Beautiful grounds, but disappointing service and poor value for money.
Pros:

We were disappointed from the moment we arrived. Although we had booked a suite, we were told that the main restaurant was already fully booked for the evening. It was surprising that hotel guests, especially suite guests, had no access unless they had reserved in advance. Instead, we had to dine in the smaller hunting lodge restaurant, which was far less impressive.

The room had a strong unpleasant smell when we entered. Soundproofing was also poor — there was an internal connecting door next to the bedroom, and we could clearly hear people walking and talking in the corridor.

The service did not match the standard or price of the hotel. Many staff members seemed inexperienced and inattentive. We often had to ask for basic things, explanations were unclear, and the service lacked professionalism. The coffee was also very weak and watery.

Overall, the hotel is significantly overpriced for the experience it delivers. We expected much better service and attention to detail.
