Lovely stay with my sister for her Birthday.
She was anxious about dinner as she can only eat certain soft foods because of a medical condition. The relaxed atmosphere in the Brasserie was very welcoming and we both had a great evening.
Breakfast was delicious too.
I had forgotten my ‘phone charger and one was delivered promptly by concierge. Excellent service all round.
All the young staff were excellent and should be proud of themselves.
The buildings and location were superb.
Breakfast offerings excellent.
Where do I start! I had paid extra for a park view room. I had informed the hotel of my mobility problems in that I struggled to go up stairs (on all fours where necessary) I also said I needed to stand to eat. I was informed that they didn’t have any park view rooms available on the ground floor. Full stop. Also that they had no high tables for eating. Full stop. I was already concerned as for the first time ever I had booked on a non-cancellation basis! When we arrived it was obvious that I would need to go up the two flights of stairs on all fours which no-one wanted. Eventually they found us a room in the annex. It was freezing cold. We were told that the heating had been turned off for the summer. They brought us a fan heater and other people complained so that they turned the heating back on the following day. In the morning I found the coffee maker didn’t work and there were no coffee bags as a back up. Also we had no biscuits. We couldn’t get any hot water in the bathroom sink during our visit. With patience we obtained hot water from the shower. We had booked to eat in the brasserie. We were not told that this entailed walking outside and up past the tennis courts. They have a buggy but for obvious reasons (it being too painful for me to sit) we were grateful that it stayed dry each evening. The brasserie had a high table.! Even in the brasserie the prices - especially for a glass of Prosecco/champagne - were 250% more expensive than usual. Food first night ok although bits were missing. The second evening my husband ordered sirloin steak. This only came with fries at £26. He asked for medium. When it came up it was rare. He couldn’t cut it. They cooked it a bit more but he still couldn’t cut it. I tried it and it was obvious how tough it was so he couldn’t eat it. We told the waiter (young lad) who could see the problem and said all he could do was to take off the service charge.
Lovely hotel. Very comfortable , lovely grounds and spa
Todo
Clean
Nothing it was all good
Beautiful location and house with fantastic staff
Queue for breakfast - crazy for so called ‘luxury’ hotel and prices it demands
I paid for a personalized birthday cake after having dinner in the main restaurant and what arrived was lovely cake but nothing actually on it rather a bland ‘Happy Birthday’ on the tray. It should have been happy 60th birthday Mum/Sue. Very disappointing
the staff were exceptional especially at dinner, Joshua in the restaurant was professional, engaging and make the experience. The piano player was wonderful a free bonus especially as we set by the fire. The food was of the highest standard in both the main restaurant and the brasserie. The facilities were excellent.
little things were missed ie no sugar when serving tea, tables not cleared. It would be nice to mirror the drinks in both areas, ie no long man beer available in the main hotel. The rooms whilst nice and comfortable were a little tired in the bathroom and little things like no shower get (empty), was a shame, however it can not detract from the stay. The staff made up any shortfall. Reception were exceptionally helpful and the young lady in the cocktail bar was exemplary.
It has beautiful grounds and stunning for walks
We booked a two night stay for a get away relaxed weekend! The wait for room service or any service was poor as they had a wedding and we was told it was longer because of this however I spent just under £1000 to stay there! I expect the same service as anyone else staying there
I liked the staff, friendly and positive. They really do cater to our needs.
I liked the quiet enviroments. Good beddings. Nice teas. Strong coffees. A nice blend of cute and elegances with Winnie the pooh and good old fashion funitures. Well maintained and clean. I can understand *wink* *wink* they are 5 stars. 😄😄😄😄😄
Everything was perfect. Truely grateful.
Missing a sauna but it was all very nice!
The property and staff are amazing
The spa really needs updating
The grounds are the selling point for me and they never fail to impress reflecting the obvious effort that goes into maintaining them. The communal sitting rooms are also a feature where you can linger drinking coffee and reading the newspapers. Staff are always helpful and polite.
More could be done with the bar area rather than treating it as a foyer for the restaurant. Perhaps a bit of subdued music in the background and a bit more attention to detail.
Our first night dinner, the menu options, and being able to stay up and play board games til late. We were in good travelling or walking distance of Ashdown Forest and numerous farms and gardens, which really made a difference. We went on to have two spa treatments that were also good overall.
The bed was small for two grown adults & I recognised in part that they sell on the website double beds, although this bed was a small queen bed and was not appropriate for both of us to sleep well. I think this was because we were given one of the attic rooms (17), and I noted that the other rooms lower down the building were larger, better appointed, and also you had to pay £168 extra; however, we had chosen the comfort double on the site.
Breakfast choices excellent staff very helpful and polite, Room was well laid out and facilities in the room were very good. Dinner was excellently conducted staff veryhelful and informative courses were all excellent and no sense of being rushed. the ambiance of the dinning room was excellent

Loved the breakfast (good choice), dinner (excellent) and our room (was far better than expected due to an upgrade for our Anniversary). We loved the pool. The service was very friendly, the food excellent and the location stunning.
Nothing to report - everything was better than expected.
In één woord geweldig.
