Staff
I wasn’t happy with the cleaning. The room service was very basic, they only emptied the bins and left some coffee.
I also didn’t like that the hotel isn’t very family friendly for people with a baby.
And I didn’t like that I wasn’t able to use any of the facilities that I paid for.
Loved the old school board games. Staff were very lovely and made our stay special
Sadly, there was some dirt in the bathroom, something really quite dirty. This put me off my breakfast. Hopefully that was a one off as the rest of the room was lovely
Breakfast was lovely. GF options available although it would have been nice to have been able to have had some of the cooked items from the kitchen before they had been put out as there was a risk of cross contamination.
Staff were very helpful. Room a really good size and beds very comfy
Building is a little tired. Could do with a bit of an update.
The room was pleasant and the bed comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good.
Because there was a cycling event on, space in the restaurant was only available very early in the evening. We had planned to dine there with two friends who were staying nearby, but luckily our friends were able to take us elsewhere on both evenings.
The layout and decor
The bar, lounge & restaurant
Loved the swimming pool!
The lack of annoying music in the breakfast room
The Staff seemed a bit stressed, maybe overstretched, clearly not too happy!
I was told what to do at the pool, take a shower etc., as if I’m a child. Customers are being told what to do and not do these days, not treated with gratitude for their business!
Breakfast:
Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice and everything fresh. This was one of the highlights of our stay.
Room:
The room was very clean, which we really appreciated. However, the hotel itself is quite dated and would really benefit from an uplift to bring it up to modern standards.
Dinner / Bar Food:
We ordered food from the bar menu and were very disappointed. The quality did not match the price at all — we paid £67 for two starters and two mains, which felt like a total rip‑off for what we received. The food was bland, overpriced, and not enjoyable. I would definitely eat elsewhere.
£3.15 for a small bottle of Fanta - absolute joke!
The main meal -I would go somewhere else to eat.
Easy check-in room clean good breakfast

It was good value for money, breakfast was good
Pool area could be better, needed some tlc, doesnt look like its changed in 20yrs. Also teacher was taking swimming lessons every half hour we were there!
Evening meal, kids menu i was disappointed, had to have chips and peas with the cumberland sausage, couldnt do mash & veg which i found bizzare as my husband and i had a sunday roast so obviously mash & veg available?
Could do with extra bar/service staff the 2 lads on shift were run ragid. Taking orders, serving bar, serving meals, clearing away
The room, garden room, lounge area, bar area.
Clean, friendly chatty staff,
Easy to use as a base to get around to see the sites.
Mattress a little firm.
All good.
A bit of confusion about booking in for the evening meal.
Amazing staff. We got there late but the receptionist offered to let us use the pool still. Amazing place, really caters well for dogs and kids.
Nothing to dislike!
The Scottish barman was very friendly and the service was excellent
Staff was very helpful at the reception
Evening meal was very good
Plenty on offer for breakfast
Food was excellent
Hotel conveniently situated just off the main road.
Very good car park with plenty of car spaces to park your car
Very comfortable place to stay
Probably for me personally
The room was a bit old fashioned but comfortable
The hotel was clean and airy, Dining room recently refurbished since our previous stay. Tables spread out and looks on to nice garden views. The bedroom was clean with a comfy bed. The short walk to the room was fine with ample parking available on site. The pool was warm and clean with fresh towels available at reception. A good variety of food available which cater for many different needs including gluten free. A medications fridge was made available upon request, Great reception team.
Breakfast was running a little behind at 7.30 and we were told we could not go in. It opened fairly quickly thereafter but this response took me by surprise as it was past 7.30. Perhaps need more staff on at busy periods.
We received an upgrade from a family room to a cabin, which was unexpected. It was a two night B&B but, we ate in the restaurant/bar on the first night, the food was excellent and price was what you would expect to pay in any pub. The lady on reception when we booked in - sorry I didn't get your name - was very professional, friendly and nothing seemed to be much trouble for her. I would recommend the hotel for her alone.
Slight problem with the duvet for the drop down bed, unfortunately our 12 year old seen the stains on it and we had to do a swap for ours. Not a main issue but one to mention anyway.
