We stayed to visit again so we could place our padlock on the love fence. We like the hotel as it is so close to where we wanted to be and it is very comfortable. The room we had was beautiful.
I can’t say there is anything we don’t like about the property
We stayed here due to friends having a wedding, the hotel is in a gorgeous location, the rooms are really nice, tidy and clean you have everything you possibly need in the rooms . Staff are all friendly and very helpful.
Lovely staff, very clean hotel and good food.
Do not book the dinner, bed and breakfast deal. We booked direct and paid around £166 for dinner for 2 nights to find on further searching we were only allowed £20 per person per night towards dinner. So, £80 food and £86 ripoff. A manager tried to make it better by offering a cocktail (not our thing) on the first night and 3 course meal both nights but we were given a cut down menu. We watched everyone else in the restaurant order from the full menu and we, who paid most, had limited choices. Lots had fish and chips - not available for us.
We couldn’t cancel and rebook - you can for B&B but not for the dinner “deal”.
Left a poor taste.
Beware - just book the B&B rate.
Really enjoyed our overnite stay recently. Everything was excellent, great room, very clean, warm and spacious with a lovely view..Good food too.. will stay again
This cottage was beautiful! We stayed in cottage no 1. It was glorious, more than enough space for the two of us! The twin room was right next to the main bathroom. While the main bedroom had an en-suite. This cottage would be ideal for a small family or two couples as there is more than enough space between the two rooms to maintain privacy while also spending time together! Even though situated on the main road you could not hear the traffic. The cottage has all the amenities for you to self cater with a shop being less than a five minute walk away. However across the road is The Blacksmiths which has a cafe and we chose to get a breakfast roll to take away from here! They also had a small selection of frozen products. Each cottage has its own numbered parking space allocated directly outside of the cottage.

On the night after my sister in law renewed her vows there was an almighty fight in the corridor that was opposite my room and the room of my sister who was alone she was traumatised with this happening especially when some was hurled into her door from being punched
I rang reception twice as it erupted again just as I was dropping off to sleep and then the police was brought in
There was not much of an apology when we checked out. They wrote down our room number and said they would be in touch
We have not heard anything from them in 3 weeks
Cottage was well equipped and ideal for us as we had the dog wig us
Nothing
Friendly staff. Good bar and restaurant.
Breakfast buffet was not hot enough.
Breakfast was ok sausages didn't seem cooked very well bacon still had rice on a bit confusing first day it was brought to us second day was self service
The cottage obviously must have had a dog in it you could see two patches of dried in wee not a good look
We stayed in one of the cottages across the road from the main hotel. Thankfully, as we heard other guests at breakfast saying that other unthoughtful and inconsiderate guests made their night unbearable with the level of partying and noise. I appreciate that weddings are taking place most of the time and so it is expected that guests are partying but not at 3am in the morning. We heard guests slamming their front doors around the same time and then arguing.
However, extremely comfortable beds and pillows and a great shower made the rest of the night.
The furniture in our cottage (no. 3) was damaged, which again is down to unrespectful behaviour of previous guests but it doesn’t look very nice when you’ve just checked in.
Basic breakfast, not much variety if you like fresh fruit.
Had the afternoon tea here today. All of it was fantastic. The sandwiches were fresh and soft, scones were warm and fluffy and the cakes were lush. Well worth a visit for something nice in the afternoon. It needs to be booked 24hrs in advance.
Very clean and staff helpful
The menu
Nice venue, reasonable room, good food
Some staff we’re amazing - some were dateless and knew very little about the food or the drinks they were trying to sell
Expensive for what it is
3rd time we've been here always book the cottages very roomy
Nothing
The entire experience was amazing from start to finish.
However I have to highly recommend both, Riley at the bar and Kay the supervisor. Both looked very presentable and both very professional - clearly know their roles and exceeded in them. Both were very attentive, lovely to speak to and always happy to help. Theyre very polite and made us all feel very welcome at my mothers wedding. The best service ive experienced personally.
The reception staff were also very friendly and went above and beyond. Im unsure of the ladies name however she seemed Eastern Europeon. When I was struggling to get my young niece to settle towards the end of our stay, she without even asking printed off some lovely colouring in for her as well as got some crayons. Throughout our visit she was always very lovely.
Her kindness and awareness was very much appreciated and my niece loved it. Thank you so much.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at The Smiths and I would go back.
Thank you to all that contributed to a wonderful time.
Room was lovely beautifully upgraded
Felt the dinner menu was limited. Have stayed at the hotel for several years and always felt there was a good varied menu however this has changed recently
Staff at breakfast service could be improved
The cottages were lovely great for families. Plenty of room beds comfy. Great location.
We gave an arrive time but no heating was on when arrived the cottage were freezing cold took a while to heat up. The hotel itself, reception staff were great at check in. The staff in the restaurant and bar were average we waited a hour and half to be asked if we wanted desserts 45 minutes after finishing our main course. The meal was lovely just not big enough portions. The hotel has gone down in standards and the restaurant and bar areas need a good clean and paint. It’s so sad to see that the place where we got married 15 years ago go to ruins. Needs some much needed TLC.
