Very clean and staff helpful
The menu
Nice venue, reasonable room, good food
Some staff we’re amazing - some were dateless and knew very little about the food or the drinks they were trying to sell
Expensive for what it is
3rd time we've been here always book the cottages very roomy
Nothing
Room was lovely beautifully upgraded
Felt the dinner menu was limited. Have stayed at the hotel for several years and always felt there was a good varied menu however this has changed recently
Staff at breakfast service could be improved
The cottages were lovely great for families. Plenty of room beds comfy. Great location.
We gave an arrive time but no heating was on when arrived the cottage were freezing cold took a while to heat up. The hotel itself, reception staff were great at check in. The staff in the restaurant and bar were average we waited a hour and half to be asked if we wanted desserts 45 minutes after finishing our main course. The meal was lovely just not big enough portions. The hotel has gone down in standards and the restaurant and bar areas need a good clean and paint. It’s so sad to see that the place where we got married 15 years ago go to ruins. Needs some much needed TLC.
Clean, comfortable, private, perfect for a lovely night away.
Hotel and restaurant just over the road
Large rooms
The breakfast was a buffet breakfast so was look warm and hard due to the time left on hot plate
Bar staff were great as were check in staff
Not being able to check in earlier. Cut it too close to the wedding I attended.
Room was tired and extremely noisy . Traffic noise and the room was by the kitchen and air conditioning generators. Constant drone .
Avoid room 17
Breakfast was great and tasty. Great location to the old The Famous Blacksmiths Shop.
While there wasn’t anything particularly memorable about my stay, the hotel was clean, modern, and provided everything you would reasonably expect for its price range.
The staff came across as somewhat stand-offish during our visit. As a venue that primarily caters to wedding guests in Gretna Green, it was frustrating to find that we were not allowed to check in any earlier than one hour before the official check-in time, and were then charged a £30 fee for doing so. Given that many guests travel on the same day and need time to prepare for afternoon weddings, a more accommodating check-in policy would be greatly appreciated. I hope the hotel considers revising this in the future.
The room itself and the bed.
I requested a quiet room due to sensitive hearing. They have me a room with a window facing the motorway outside.
I only slept for 2 hours. I spent the rest of the night listening to trucks speeding up and down the motorway.
Lovely food and choice
Nothing
Staff helpful friendly and professional, breakfast good choice, location excellent
Room was extremely dated, carpet badly stained, sockets on wood plinth very loose, this room not 4 star worthy.
