A Lovely Experience, Hotel Receptionists polite happy and friendly. Staff made our stay one to remember for our Special weekend, they couldn’t do enough. Hotel was very clean and a nice relaxed atmosphere
We were married here 10 years ago and it’s just as lovely as it was then, nice atmosphere and staff. Rooms clean and spacious food lovely
The bed unfortunately was too firm for us and we didn’t get a good sleep and had sore back , but that is just our preference so really isn’t anything to do with Smiths

I did not know room service breakfast was an option - only found out on the second day when i found the card under the do not disturb card on the door handle! It should have been on the table with the main room service menu . General room service menu limited. I found out on the last night that you can actually get anything from the restaurant menu as room service up to 8.30pm - but only because I asked. Nobody tells you. The room info is on a QR code (fine if you have a smart phone) but when you click it just takes you to the hotel website - no room info. No bottled water in room (for a four star hotel!) which I thought was poor.
Stayed in one of the cottages which was very nice and great value if 3-4 people use it. Main hotel seemed nice also- we had drinks, dinner and breakfast there; food was OK but not great, especially for the prices. A pleasant stay but not exceptional.
We visited the Old Blacksmiths museum first (which was great, especially as we were married there 26 years earlier!), and paid full price as we didn't find out there was 50% discount for hotel guests until we got to our room! Food was fairly pricey and average, although the leek and potato soup was excellent.
Big spacious room

The cottage is situated directly across from the Blacksmith and only a two minute walk from the hotel where breakfast is served. Self serve breakfast with a good selection continental pastries, cereal, drinks and english breakfast items. The evening meal served at the wedding reception was delicious.
The cottage we stayed in was very spacious, airy and comfortable.
The cottage was kept at a constant temperature but was set a couple of degrees higher than I would normally have it and was unable to turn it down. I found the beans at breakfast to be tepid. I did not raise either of these issues with any member of staff and I am sure that they would have rectified them if they had known.
Location was great, staff were super friendly, room was very clean & good selection for breakfast
