I had a lovely stay in the hotel, rooms are amazing, staff are very professional, Special thank you to Roberta for making my stay special and taking the time to chat with both myself but my elderly parents.
We attended for a wedding. The layout of the family room was great with the bathroom between the adults and child spaces. The TV in the children’s room was also a welcome
The room was clean and tidy. The noise from outside though was absolutely horrendous. The hotel is next to a busy road and you could hear every car. The room was above the large air con fans and bins which added to the noise. The air conditioning unit in the room sounded like a jet engine when it was on and even when it was off you could not close it to the outside noise as it was on the external wall. Avoid room 17
Everything. Friendly helpful staff, great location for a stop over when travelling north, rooms, bed and bedding very comfortable, we enjoyed our dinner and excellent breakfast. Thank you.
Lift was slow, accessible room was good except beds a bit close to the wall on one side and the only sink was very low - the shower and toilet grab rails were excellent for our very elderly parents but the sink was positioned for wheel chair users only so was a bit low. Not all people who need assistance are wheelchair users.
We returned to Smith's for our 10th anniversary having got married at Gretna Green and stayed at Smiths before. The staff are always friendly and welcoming, the room was comfortable and had everything we needed. The bed was super comfy and huge!
Breakfast was included and had a great selection of items from pastries, cereals, toast, and hot items. A range of teas and coffees as well.
We booked dinner as well which again was great. We had two mains, a side, two desserts and drinks all for under £70. I had the fish and chips and my husband had the steak which was cooked perfectly.
The hotel is located a matter of minutes from the famous blacksmith's area so no need to drive once you've parked in the hotel - which has ample parking as well.
There isn't anything we'd change about the hotel or our stay and look forward to staying there again.
Nothing. Wouldn't change a thing.
Rooms are huge
Bed is uncomfortable
Brilliant hotel for weddings or just a base to see Dumfries and Galloway staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful food in restaurant very good
Limited menu same each day and on occasion staff slow to respond between courses
The room was really spacious, clean and comfortable, the bathroom was immaculate and provided high quality soap, body wash, conditioner and hand cream. The breakfast was buffet style and had everything you could want both hot and cold. An added bonus of provision of a teapot for tea rather than the usual teabag and mug.
I cant think of any negative aspect of the hotel, there was some road noise from the Motorway but we were aware of the proximity when booking. If we stay again we would request a room facing away from the motorway.
Superb location. Opposite the Blacksmiths . One parking space is allocated per room.
Massive vaulted room with full facilities.
You can go into Blacksmiths museum for free if your staying at Smiths hotel and receive 10% off any shop purchases. We were not told this and paid 2 Adult entries into the museum.
Staff are friendly and helpful.. It is a magical place to stay and attend a wedding.
Sadly large cobwebs, and an uncomfortable bed, with springs jutting out LHS, which catch your legs when getting out.
And not informing us about guest benefits are only small details missed by staff but enough to reduce from 5 to 4☆.
Easy to locate and good for a nights break whilst driving from north of Scotland to England
Nothing
Lovely hotel, stayed for 2 nights, rooms clean, comfortable with tea/ coffee making facilities, hair dryer, iron etc. good breakfast buffet. My only criticism is that the wine for our table ( pre booked meal with drinks package) was served as we had almost finished our main course!
The service the atmosphere and also our group had a drama and the way the hotel dealt with the aftermath was excellent
We stayed in one of the cottage’s. Absolutely perfect, a great space.
