Lovely historic hotel with luxurious bedding
Pros:

You can't beat the downtown location of this historic hotel. We stayed in the double full bed room located in the Victorian house off the parking lot. The high mattresses were very comfortable, made with luxury linens, and the bathroom had a clawfoot tub perfect for a bubble bath. The town boasts many choices for restaurants, but it's a small town and closes up early.

Luxury Hotel in a small Mountain Town!
Pros:

This is a true GEM of a Boutique Hotel. Everything is amazingly curated. From the best Teas in the room and beautiful linens. The beds are also luxuries. A claw tub was perfect for taking a nice soak. The Hotel is stunning and you feel at home. Slept like a baby puppy.

Cons:

Nothing

Great stay at a Historic Hotel.
Pros:

The staff and facilities we fabulous. Love the caricature of the building. We stayed in the building behind the main hotel and there is a small patch of grass that was perfect for our little dog. Our room was on the first floor and there are two rocking chairs on the front porch and our room was right behind us. Very nice. Finally, the staff couldn't have been more helpful.

Lovely boutique hotel. My place to stay each year when I’m visiting with family. Very warm and friendly. Appreciate rooms do not have TVs and just bring my little speaker to enjoy music.

Awesome Hotel, super friendly and helpful staff
Pros:

The Hotel itself is awesome, the folks who work here are even better. Ulina at the front desk was exceptionally helpful and went out of her way to help me even when the hotel was super busy the night I checked in, and the day after when I ran into some charging issues with my phone... absolutely top-notch

In town for the Bluegrass Festival
Pros:

Enjoyed the hotel and its history. Took the last available room at the time of booking and will opt for larger one next time. Difficult getting in and out of shower with the claw foot tub. No chair to sit in and not much room to get around. Just too small for us. Still enjoyed the hotel and will return.

Beware of the quirks in some rooms.
Pros:

Lovely boutique hotel in downtown Grassvalley. But as boutique hotels go this one also has some quirks in addition to it's charm.

Quirks: 1) Our queen room (#17) had no closet so your clothes, the iron and ironing board are in full view in one corner of the room. Not sure if no closet applies to all rooms or suites, but you might want to ask before booking the room. 2) There is no side chair so if you want to sit it will have to be on the bed. 3) There is no TV. We could watch some shows on our computer, but be prepared. 4) Some rooms like ours are over the hotel bar so there will be some noise until it closes at 10 pm. 5) Our room had a claw foot tub/shower which is a bit challenging to get in/out of because the only thing to hold on to is the sink or back wall. 6) Parking is limited due to non-hotel guests parking behind the hotel so be prepared to find other parking on the street if nothing is available.

Charm: The restaurant, bar and lobby were charmingly renovated to retain the historic feel. The bar is original and we were told has shipped from Italy to San Francisco and then to Grassvalley and it is beautiful. The bar was busy and got pretty loud at times. Also there are only two small tables on the balcony off the bar facing Main Street; other outdoor seating is in back with no views. There are stairs and a small elevator. They provided coffee, scones and a frittata across from the restaurant for a quick breakfast. There is also a speakeasy in the basement but we were not impressed with it. The bathrooms down there, however, were clean, large and well done with the historic charm.

Service: Service at the front desk, in the restaurant and in the bar was fast and friendly. Becky who served us in the restaurant was especially nice. There was a mini bar in our room which we didn't use but which was convenient as they also provided wine glasses and an opener which we used with our own wine.

Location: Great! On Thursdays they close Main for a few blocks which along with Mill Street makes a great place for a market with lots of vendors. The location is close to good restaurants and bars also. And there is a theatre where Mill Street becomes pedestrian only and I was wishing we had time to catch a new release movie (e.g. Madalorian and Grogu was there) in their historic theatre.

We loved the charm, service and location and would stay again provided we could find a room with a closet and a side chair not over the bar.

Cons:

The front desk would never answer the phone or return calls after multiple calls on multiple days. Then the power went out in the middle of summer (no A/C). The front desk told us “it happens all the time”. Only the hotels power went out, not the whole grid so it was a hotel problem not a PGE problem.

Our Twin Sister Birthday Stay in Grass Valley
Pros:

We enjoyed the hotel receptionist very friendly and polite. We enjoyed having a complimentary cocktail with our family, as it was my twin sister's and my birthday. We got a recommendation of Cirino's for dinner which we loved, and we enjoyed a live performance at the Center for the Arts. It was great having all our activities in close proximity to the hotel. And the hotel breakfast was very nice. We loved the decor and the beautiful elevator. We'll be back!
