Good clean room, but the food was tasteless

The room was clean & spacious. The staff were friendly & helpful. Good air conditioning. The shower was good.

Cons:

The restaurant food was terrible. It was tasteless & dry. The tartlet & chips looked & tasted like they had been cooked, left & recooked again. My husband had the chicken in tomato sauce & cheese on top. I'm not sure what it was, but it was tasteless. This was our wedding anniversary - very disappointed.
Breakfast was slightly better except for the scrambled egg - watery & once again tasteless.
The food provision really lets this property down.

Pros:

Location and plenty of parking. Staff were excellent .

Cons:

Musky smell when you went into the initial corridor.
Shower hose needs a clean.
Would be nice to have some flavoured teas in the room.

Good out of town hotel for a one night stay
Pros:

Our group had a really good Saturday night stay - the staff were really helpful and friendly, the beds were really comfortable and the breakfast was good. It's easy to find on the Shrewsbury ringroad and only 10 mins from town in a taxi.

Cons:

The hotel is a little tired but really clean and comfortable. Everything looks like it could do with an upgrade but evrything worked - shower was warm with good water pressure, air con was on (during July 26 heatwave) but the room was still hot at night - could probably do with a service. The self service breakfast (included) was extensive with hot and cold options and the machine coffee was ok.

Pricey for what you get, ok room with questionable cleanliness and staff with attitude.
Pros:

The rooms are of a good size for 2 and the bathrooms are decent with a powerful shower.

Cons:

The staff were a very mixed bunch. On checking in, the service was decent but the breakfast staff were poor, with everything including cleaning the table too much effort for them.
We were also checked out by one of the breakfast staff and she didn't ask how our stay was or actually say very much at all. Everything, apart from chatting to fellow workers, was too much effort.
We also walked past a store room where we could see "clean" towels and bedding sitting on the floor and could also see the same being dragged across the floor in trolleys.
Unless one of your hotels is particularly convenient, we won't be staying with you again.

Friendly and helpful staff. Well appointed room and bathroom. Comfortable beds. Having a bar a nice addition with pleasant seating area.

Ok stay, not too bad, but the food is atrocious
Pros:

Room, location were ok. Hotel is fairly dated, but not too bad. Don't have unreasonable expectations towards a random Holiday Inn stay then you won't get disappointed

Cons:

Bed was so so, bit springy to me but that's personal preference i guess.

Breakfast, however, is objectively borderline inedible. Probably would be a better overall experience if it was not even included in the stay. Barely cooked baken with unrendered fat, "scrambled eggs" from egg powder or whatever it is tasting like cardboard, "apple juice" watered down to the point of tasting more like infused water... without breakfast I think the experience is as expected. Wirh the breakfast, the 76gbp I paid for the night feels way way too high.
