DoubleTree by Hilton Akron Fairlawn

This hotel is dated. Upon entering the smell of heavy pool chlorine and carpet must hit me hard. We ended up having to change rooms as the first room had a leaking shower. I almost fell and busted my head on the toilet because water was pouring from under the shower door track onto the tile. Staff more than willingly switched us to another room. The 2nd room had barely enough working lighting in the bathroom to see. The mini fridge wasn't operational. And throughout the entire facility there was a lingering smell of musty carpet. The entire hotel needed a good scrubbing. Bathroom tiles had soap scum build up. Carpets and cloth furniture were visibly stained. Thick dust on furnishings that weren't surface top level. The outdoor pool was filthy. The outdoor area was cluttered with beer bottles and trash. I specifically booked this property for the outdoor amenities. They did not at all compare to the pictures provided. For the price per night here, the standards of cleanliness and property maintenance did not align.

It was so quiet

No room service as advertised - pool was dirty - toilet overflowed and it was not cleaned properly after nor were towels replaced. I asked for fresh towels to be brought to me and it took over 12 hours and I had to ask 3 more times. I told them I had mobility issues and would appreciate them being brought to me as soon as was convenient for them. The free breakfast was buffet only and no option to order from a menu as advertised. The buffet was poorly monitored until the weekend when a bridal party was there. Also - my room was supposed to have a tub - it did not and there were no options to switch and so i asked for a shower chair which arrived 6 hours later but before the towels. The smoking area was welcome but nobody cleaned the area. The same beer bottle that was there when I arrived was there when Ieft 5 days later

No AC, Dirty room and bedding.

Hvac felt wet. Dirty.

No air conditioning. Room was 82 degrees with air set to cool. No other available rooms so my son had to miss his soccer tournament and we had to check out.

This trip was booked for our wedding anniversary, and instead of a relaxing celebration, we spent our time dealing with safety concerns, billing issues, and inadequate communication from the front desk. The only staff member who demonstrated genuine care and professionalism was the Bar Manager, Hope, who listened attentively and offered a small gesture of goodwill

Strong smell of paint in room. Took a day to clear out. Pillows were not comfortable.

Liked everything

i did not like that the breakfast was not for everyone. and how warm the rooms were no matter if you touched the theromstat. I also did not like the shop was card only. The last and only thing is the minimize towels in the room.

That we had to leave it was time to go. We had put our time in and I wish that we would’ve had more time to been there.

When it was time to go to bed THERE WAS SOMEONE IN OUR ROOM (not a hotel guest might I add). The hotel was fully booked so we squeezed into our other hotel room so someone had to sleep on the ground. The worker that night was very nice and tried his best. Getting a refund for a suite has been a nightmare-they say they can’t do anything because it was paid through booking.com. After several emails back and forth(the lady was nice but honestly I don’t think she tried anything to get this resolved). It’s basically been left to me to resolve even though the hotel was the one who messed up. They offered equivalent in points which does not work since we split the cost of the suite.

We had a 2 room suite with a TV in both rooms as well as the bathroom, but the bathroom TV did not work, and there was only one remote.
