Everything!!!!!
Pool is nice .
Bad smell
This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. We booked as a family based on the Marriott name, but this hotel does not live up to the standards of the Marriott brand. When we entered the room, the room (and bed) had not been cleaned/made from the previous guest. The room also had an a pungent odor and if that was not enough, there were also spiders in the bathroom and sleeping area. When I advised the front desk about the condition of the room, I was handed bed sheets to make the bed myself. Shocking, I know. I would not stay at this location for free, there are many other, better located hotels across the water which is a better location to stay at anyways.
Dated, old, understaffed, super loud AC, loud fridge old mattresses, worn out carpets , 1990s TV - DO NOT GO HERE.
This was the worse experience I’ve ever had at a Marriott! The headboard of my bed was so filthy I could write my name in it. The mattress was soft, the curtain had a stain on it, the TV sat on the dresser and was extremely small. I use a medical device and pulled out the night stand for the additional outlet it was also filthy and didn’t work. I went to the front desk and told them I paid for an upgrade and was told I have an upgrade. They showed me another room which looked the same. The hotel needs a serious cleaning and upgrades. I also attempted to contact the manager, no response. When I returned home I emailed corporate! I couldn’t wait to leave!
location
the cleanliness and facilities
Nothing
It’s dated, it smells, the shower curtain was yellow in some spots as if somebody peed all over it, water spots all over the ceiling, the air conditioning/ heating unit didn’t work properly, no hot water it only got lukewarm.
Needs an upgrade
The location is great, just a few minutes from Main St and close to the ADK Loj for hiking. The hotel internet connection was terrible. Unfortunately the garbage can wasn’t empty in the room when we checked in but the rest of the room was clean and the hotel staff took care of the problem quickly. The hotel is outdated and the room does not have enough light. The shower water pressure was very good. It’s the only Marriott in Lake Placid so I’ll stay there again but I hope they update it.
Staff was friendly
The hot tubs were broken so we couldn’t use them. That was one of the main reasons we chose this location. The beds were uncomfortable and the sheets kept coming off on both sides. The hot water took forever to get hot. The ac in the first room we were in was broken so we had to change rooms.
Location, clean, quiet and comfortable
1.Hot tubs not operating
2.”bistro breakfast” with everything else ala carte was very expensive
We stayed here for 4 nights to celebrate New Year's Eve. When we checked in we never received a warm greeting. On my Bonvoy profile I have higher floors request but it wasn't available to us. We were on the second floor in the back. The room was worn looking, bed was too soft and uncomfortable, loud hvac system and super thin toilet tissue worst then Scott tissue.
Some of the breakfast choices were always sold out which was disappointing. I understand there were some bobsled teams staying there so very understaffed for daily tasks like housekeeping. We had to call a few times to let them know our room wasn't cleaned yet. Kids were playing hockey in the hallways and kept hitting our door at night. The hot tubs were not working and looks like it's been in disrepair for months. I expressed my concerns to the front desk and they told me they would add Bonvoy points to my account. As of today, they have not been loaded. Marriott should be embarrassed calling this a Courtyard. It's run down and poor management. It's a 2 star hotel in my book. I am a travel professional and would never recommend this place.
The reception staff and bartender were very nice and welcoming.
The two hot tubs were not in working order and will not be for a while. The internet service was poor. In the room there was only decaf coffee and powdered creamer. The price was very high for the experience. The restaurant/bar had a small menu and were out of two meal menu items (bistro burger and grilled cheese/soup).
