Proximity to conference center
Misleading
we booked a Queen Corner Suite with a river view. We were pleasantly surprised to find this room also had a balcony! The river traffic (tugs, barges, and more) was enjoyable to watch. Also the many freight trains going by. We came from the Amtrak station after having taken the Mardi Gras Service from New Orleans. The Battle House was an easy walk from the train station even with luggage. Be sure to ask about the "Whispering Columns" in the historic section of the hotel. Pretty cool.
Valet drop off is wild during the day, checked into nice corner room with porch. Clean mostly quiet room with daily housekeeping. Mostly friendly staff throughout. Nice huge pool that opens early for lap swim. Nice Executive Lounge has snacks and yummy breakfast except Friday night and Saturday morning. No allowance for anything else during closed times was finally given a bag of potato chips by not very nice desk clerk, "what are you expecting?" I suggested food credit for Friday evening and Saturday morning and was immediately shut down with " we don't do that here!" Nice Lobby Bar for evening cocktail, nice Italian restaurant on site very nice staff in here with good food. Other nice restaurants in the area that are walkable.
Very clean, the bartender n the Joe Caine bar as very kind and helpful.. I don’t remember her name, but she was thin and had an auburn/red looking bob. She was great!
Attention to detail
Conveniently located. Loved the gulf cart option vs Uber
Handicap room had a tub only…no walk-in shower for wheelchair access.
Great beds, great water pressure in the shower, great location, nice rooftop patio, fourth floor hallway stunk, and the pool was closed (with no fore-warning), but I would still go back to this hotel in a heartbeat.
Only negative I have was that the 8th floor terrace lights were out. They sent someone up to look at them but they were never able to get them to come on.
