Stayed here 2 nights-perfect location to waterfront & restaurants. Room was nice /quiet & bed very comfortable. We had a problem with our reservation ( my mistake-NOT hotels fault) and the manager,Paula, was extremely helpful and understanding. Definitely would stay here again
Mixed visit. The staff are friendly and the location can’t be beat. It’s right off the boardwalk and has great walking access to everything. The hotel itself feels very much like a place that was privately labeled and then got a Courtyard badge put on it by just checking the bare essentials of a checklist. The bathrooms are particularly dated, the tv channels are all mislabeled and half don’t work, one of two elevators (and no service elevators) has been out for weeks, there are active mice in the breakfast space, and the staff doesn’t seem to understand Marriott benefits. It wasn’t a terrible stay but I would have expected a more polished experience with the Courtyard brand and the price per night of the room.
When we arrived for our stay the elevators were both down, and we were on the top floor (14 flights total). It took almost 2 hours for someone to offer to help us bring our luggage upstairs. We inquired multiple times throughout our stay and were told they would be fixed soon. Spoiler alert: they were not fixed soon and after reading multiple other reviews for the past few weeks it looks like they are STILL down???? From the time of our stay (July 27-29) until 2 hours ago!!
The pull out couch my mother stayed on my first night was half made of vinyl, and the sheets didn’t even fit. For the price we were paying for the king suite room, how can they think that is acceptable?
We were in town for our wedding. Our only saving grace was that the GM hadn’t answered multiple calls about using the rooftop for our ceremony as half of our guests wouldn't be able to make it up due to accessibility issues. Does the Marriot not understand what a safety concern that is??? Safety aside, my family couldn’t come upstairs like we planned as I was getting ready, (again, accessibility) which wasn’t what I was hoping for on my wedding day… and then I had to walk down AND up 14 flights of stairs in my wedding dress and shoes with my two year old daughter! But when I asked and expressed this to the front desk staff they seemed unconcerned and disingenuously apologetic.
I spoke with the manager (and an actual compassionate front desk staff, whom I am thankful for but obviously has no say in decisions) and she offered a refund, but after a week of waiting I called and left messages, but my calls and pleas for a call back were ignored for almost 3 weeks. I finally got ahold of her today and she seemed eager to get me off the phone. We will see what refund I get as I was promised one. But the fact I had to pay anything for this stay, or anyone has to pay to stay here with these elevator issues, is preposterous. Extremely saddened by the whole series of events. Do better, Marriot.
I stayed 3 nights while in town to run the Blue Nose Marathon (1.7 km to the start and finish). My room on the 3rd floor had a small patio facing the Zen Garden, a communal terrace with some planters and chairs. The patio did have a privacy fence, but I was not comfortable leaving my curtains open when there were guests in the Zen Garden. Other than that, the room and bed were clean and comfortable, and the shower had good water pressure. I was disappointed that there was no way to keep the room fan on constant, as I like to use it for white noise at night, especially as there were multiple guests not bothering to speak quietly when in the hallway after 22:00, and occasional street noise from cars. The room doors unfortunately are very loud when they close, even if you try to shut them gently. Staff were all friendly and professional, and I did get a tasty meal from the Bistro. The lobby was spacious and open, with lots of seating and some interesting artifacts in display cases.
I checked in on the later side in the evening, and at that time the parking garage was full, but the desk clerk advised me to park in the Salter Lot across the street — very easy to use the kiosk to pay (can also use parking app), though the overnight parking only went until 8:00 the next morning, so I had to make sure I was awake in time either to move the car or to pay for additional time. Street parking is free on Saturdays and Sundays, and it wasn't difficult to find a nearby spot at 8:00 on Saturday. Hotel's location near the waterfront is very convenient, with tons of restaurants and shops within a few blocks, as well as the Maritime Museum and the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia. The Citadel and Scotiabank Centre are also only a few blocks away. Keep in mind that staying near the waterfront means you have to walk uphill to everything that's not on the waterfront!
Hot breakfast quite satisfactory. All staff very friendly and helpful. Excellent location in Harbour area.
Major heating problem in room. Uncomfortably cold in the morning with no heat directly to room. Eventually fixed by means of a room change.
The location was excellent and the food was great!
Did not receive room cleaning service evryday.
Good location
Expensive parking
Super!

Our group was belittled, demeaned and essentially harassed by the restaurant and front desk staff. I have never seen anything like it in my life. Do not book here if you are travelling with a group. They turned on and off the lights in the lobby while we were watching a hockey game repeatedly to tell us the lobby was closing at 10:30. They repeatedly came up to us to ask us if we had paid for parking - which we had. At 10 pm we moved to the restaurant area as they had indicated the lobby was closing. They sold us the last drink shortly after 11 pm. By 11:05 they turned off the lights and left us in pitch black. When I spoke to them to say they were required to give us a reasonable time to finish our last drink and that OHS standards required a certain lightening level they were beyond rude. We complained to the hotel manager in the morning who was very apologetic and said that should not have happened. Two days later while trying to order a bagel for my son they refused service to me. Two servers in the restaurant embarrassed and belittled me and several of the other parents in the dining room in front of other guests because they said we were disrespectful to them several evenings before. They then created a scene, calling me a lunatic and crazy. Their staff needs some serious customer service experience. The hotel manager was lovely and quite mortified by our experience. I have never in my life had such a negative experience and would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
Location was really nice, close to Halifax Waterfront and walking distance to some attraction such as Dicovery Centre, Museum. Plenty of restaurant around the area. Room was clean and decent size for family of 4.
Reception/front desk staffs were quite a disappointment. They barely talk, not welcoming. Not enthusiastic, even at check out the staff just nod his head and look at the door to convey that we’re good to go. It was not busy at check out at 3:00am. I even asked question about billing but i didn’t got an answer, instead, I was told that the receipt will be send to my email. However, I didn’t got an email and need to call the next day.
Hot tub was actually tooo hot .. usually the issue is not hot enough
None
Great things to see and do in the area . The view of the hotel from the road at night is stunning. On the weekend there is a market one building over. The steak house is exceptional. The cafe Bistro in the main lobby was excellent, clean and open until 9pm each evening.
A front desk clerk was not trained very well. She continued to say things that did not apply. 3 different guests and my self had difficulty when checking out or trying to rebook for another night due to bad weather. No microwave in the room.
Central, next to boardwalk, Sunday farmers market and all the fancy restaurants. Walking distance from bars and clubs too.
