Small bed and cramped bedroom
The building was beautiful
The bed wasn’t comfy
A lovely relaxed setting
All good weekend
Breakfast was great , setting very pretty and quiet
Bathroom was outdated
Friendly staff, comfy and clean room. Great location. Cheap and cheerful but good quality.
Nothing to dislike!
I didn't sleep as a fellow traveller had the television on quite loud for the whole night and it was very difficult to listen to music especially at 2,3 and 4am in the middle of the night after I complained twice to reception and didn't get any sort of refund for the fact I'd had only around 4 hours sleep. Being able to sleep was the main point of the stay and I suffered and I had to put up with antisocial behaviour I'd expect from a very bad housing estate. Very disappointed with the staffs response considering the surrounding and given they didn't offer me anything for the inconvenience of not being able to sleep and having to listen to someone else's telly the whole night I wouldn't be returning.
Unfortunately I was kept awake all night by noise of a machine underneath my room 16.
Felt awful the next day. So tired. The room needs updating
Beautiful grounds.
The location and buildings are beautiful, unfortunately we didn’t have time to enjoy them, but you could spend plenty of time doing so. The main house is lovely, bar comfortable, and excellent options for breakfast.
It’s a bit tired, the ‘dining room’ for breakfast was in what turned out to be a venue space for weddings and parties, and felt a bit of an odd place to serve breakfast, where you could potentially be sharing a large round table with strangers.
As a tall couple, we found the small double a bit tight, so something to consider if you’re in the larger side.
Despite a lovely breakfast, I discovered that the small marmite pots were 14 months out of date (this was raised at the time).
Historic house in an very nice and large garden. Extremely friendly stuff and nicely decorated rooms.
Just a note to other travelers: you may need to climb lots of stairs to reach your room (in our case: 20 steps up, then 8 steps down, and another 10 up again).
Room was excellent and so were the staff. Food was well priced , good size portion and well presented.
No all good
Urm, nothing!
The room was tiny, in the attic and really hot. When I opened the window in the early hours of the morning I discovered a wasp nest directly outside and had wasps pouring into my room. Being allergic and very nervous of wasp stings I stood unable to get clothing or get to the phone to get help. When I eventually got to the fixed phone in the room it was dead. Over an hour later I made it down to reception but was only offered for the wasps to be sprayed. I couldn't sleep in the room or stay in it another night. I wasn't offered any alternative room (as that would have been an upgrade!) but I did thankfully get a refund for the following night (still charged for the awful night I stayed).
The hotel is pet friendly. Accommodation is very good. Both me and my dog received a very friendly service. Martha was incredibly helpful with my reservation and went above and beyond. I've visited the hotel before and will certainly be back. Really is a great place to stay.
There was nothing to dislike in my opinion.
