No chair in my room , one could only sit on the bed!
Mooie kamer in prachtige locatie .Zeer goede prijs kwaliteit verhouding
Very comfortable and tranquil hotel.
Excellent cuisine.
.
Great traditional & atmospheric hotel. With very interesting history & attractive gardens/grounds. Exceptionally friendly helpful staff. A peaceful atmosphere.
I liked everything
Room was not as expected. Breakfast, if different options may have taken breakfast. Overall too pricey for food.
Receptionist was rude. Ghouiri - his manner was unacceptable. Although not rude on purpose, his abruptness left a lot to be desired.
Very lovely room and shower and great location away from main house so very quite
Was very warm day and no air con but that was situational another day not a problem
Beautiful location and surroundings, comfortable well equipped bedroom and spacious bathroom, with amazing views of the grounds. Easy car parking. Booked as a last minute overnight stay visiting friends and family in the area. We were grateful for the slightly later complimentary check out.
Can't think of anything really. Just some bottles of drinking water in the room would have been good, especially given the heatwave!
The location is great. it is blessed with a country feel, less than 2.5 miles to the train station and town
The accommodation was not clean. We were housed in the 'overflow' lodge, which has really steep stairs if you are on the first floor. The room has no AC, it had no fan or real means of airflow. The small windows opened onto the main road. There was one v small bottle of water between two. One poor quality pack of biscuits. The bath had two large chips in it, both were rusty. The screen for the over-bath shower had mould on it. The carpet was not well cleaned. The bed was, however, comfortable (but so is the Premier Inn). The staff at breakfast were miserable. The food was cold when served (the plates were hot). The smashed avocado was a smear on a piece of untoasted, dubious bread, supposedly sourdough. One poached egg was overcooked, the other had snotty white to it. For some reason, the chilli element was missing and diced cucumber, red onion and tomato was liberally applied to the plate. The coffee was poor filter coffee. The fruit was of poor quality and had no berries, just a melon with a little pineapple.
The property was stately and pretty, looked attractive.
Apparently, due to /grade 2 listing, there is no air conditioning…
As an older person, the small bedrooms, being offered only a (just one ) fan, was not even close to offering comfort from heat, certainly not for me!
I appealed for help, and the kindness of one member on reception saw me moved to a room with air from windows.. it saved me…
I knew several others staying, as we were a party group, the rooms they were in were unbearable, …. UNBEARABLE!
I was disappointed by lack of full cleanliness, spiders n webs in the shower, dirt on the windowsill, which blew in apon opening, indeed the windows obviously not been opened to clean!
Very scruffy out the back areas , rubbish and broken items..
The gardens not as attended as they should have been…
All this being taken into account against the enormous cost…
As a world wide traveller , this is not up to the standard for the price! Definitely not!
Note the windowsill photos were after I cleaned the worst off
Overall it is a lovely hotel, beautiful location and very friendly staff.
However, I was on the top floor and all that was provided was a small desk fan and a single small window so the room never went below what felt like 30 degrees and I don't think the room should be in use in the summer months, it was sweltering hot and my friend who slept on the 2nd floor did not have that issue. If you are given top floor you should request a change or your money back. It was impossible to sleep and a terrible night.
A very professional and well run hotel. The room was a good size and very clean.
The room was super hot. I mentioned about leaving windows open before guests arrive to let some air in because its exceptionally difficult to cool it down. i understand and can accept the reasons (bugs, no known arrival time etc).
Also, and this is not technically about the hotel, but the dinner was not great. My friend said that hes eaten there before and its been a lot better he wondered whether the event (wedding) was to blame and the main chef(s) were working there.
The garden and bar
The receptionist twice told me there was no booking under my name - the room was not good value for a deluxe room - no tissues - no coffee - no air con and window would not open - in a heatwave - a very odd little room
Breakfast cold selection could have more choice. With the hot breakfast no tomatoes which is a shame if people want a vegetarian option
The views. The surroundings. The atmosphere was amazing.
I booked this hotel as a surprise for my husband for his birthday and its certainly aomewhere I would go back to.
The room was lovely. The staff were ao firefly and polite and the views were out of this world.
There was nothing not to like
Excellent breakfast.
Room was clean with decent bathroom.
Staff friendly.
Decent room and clean and tidy
