De Vere Horsley Estate

The room was in poor condition and wasn’t clean - dead mosquitos and other bugs on the bathroom wall, spider’s webs all over, a cigarette lighter from a previous guest on the floor, dust on lamps and in drawers. Bathroom door was badly damaged on the inside, safe didn’t work, curtains weren’t fixed on the ends, I couldn’t get the air conditioning to turn on even after being advised to put my key in the slot next to the panel, general damage in the room. One double light switch was broken - I did report this immediately after check in but it wasn’t fixed. Do not disturb sign was only placed in my room on day 3. Clean linen is kept on the floor in the corridors, bed wasn’t fully made on the last make up. Staff were pleasant enough when you engaged them, but not once was I asked about my stay - not when passing reception, not even on check out! Only the contractors on site greeted me when I passed them. I had five breakfasts and two meals in the bar (which seemed perennially understaffed) and not once was I asked for satisfaction on the food. Breakfast selection was exactly the same 5 days in a row. I emailed from the airport as I think I’ve left my glasses in the room, two days later they haven’t replied yet. Sure, it wasn’t expensive, but basic cleanliness standards should be separate from the star rating of a hotel. Oh and there was a fight in the bar at the end of the England game. Not exactly in their control, but just added to the overall experience!

bedroom had no air con during the heatwave . not enough storage space

Le lit était de mauvaise qualité, au point que nous avons dû louer une 2e chambre.
Impossible de sormir à 2 dans le même lit.
La première nuit, un homme saoûl s’est affaissé contre la porte de la chambre. Le.personnel.a dû appeler la police, ce qui a valu 3h de discussions à haute voix à la porte.de la chambre, sans proposition de relogement, ni même d’excuses de la part de l’hôtel. Bref, j’ai passé la majeure partie de la nuit dans la voiture.

Horsley Towers was buiten ons en nog een ander stel helemaal verlaten: het is speciaal voor conferenties en bruiloften...maar heeft ook enkele mooie kamers om te verblijven.

Rooms were warm, way too hot and probably should have air con or even ceiling fans.

It would have been amazing to have a fridge in the room to put drinks to keep them cool in the heat

Bedroom was small and well over due a refurbishment. Carpet grubby, floor in bathroom looked like you would get your feet dirty after a shower. Noise from the room above when someone had a pee in the morning. Noise from people walking past the outside of the room in the evening. No air conditioning so had a noisy broken fan with the cover falling offShower old and cover falling off. No water so rely on tap which didn’t run very cold. Toilets by bar not very clean and hand dryer smelled of poo.

Larger pool changing rooms would be helpful.

Rowdy wedding guests at 1.00 to 1.30 am ruined my first night.
Also VERY hot shower in first room almost unbearable, especially on hot day.
To be fair, they did try to repair that the same day, but failed so I was given a new room.

Nothing really. The rooms are a little dated but clean and comfortable
