We had stayed last the Sylvia years ago and loved the heritage experience away from the chain hotel stays. The location is great with easy walking along the seawall to Stanley park or Granville Island. Also several bus stops within a few blocks so access to anywhere in the city. We stayed for 5 days - ate dinner in the restaurant one night (see separate review) and overall had a lovely experience. Our only complaint - one morning we just wanted a couple of scones to take up to the room for breakfast however the restaurant does not allow take out and were told we must use room service (which has an automatic 18% surcharge). How is that good customer service??
Good old fashioned service in a fantastic position.
Nothing
L'emplacement, la gentillesse du personnel et ne pas hésiter à aller au restaurant de l'hôtel.
La chambre était un peu petite mais cela n'a pas entaché notre séjour x
The location couldn't have been better and the staff were lovely!
Die Lage war für mich perfekt
Nichts denn ich habe mich informiert und darum auch dieses Hotel Gewählt
It all went well: great room, good, friendly, and helpful service. The restaurant was great, greta location. Love staying at the Sylvia. I have been staying there since the early 1980s.
Nothing
Spent three nights at the Sylvia Hotel, first trip to Vancouver. Really helpful staff, great location- a bit removed from tourist area around Canada Place but actually on a beach and a stones throw from Stanley Park.
Room was clean if small and a bit tired, corridors also pretty tired, but the bar / restaurant area was good, staff there also v helpful. Would stay again.
Emplacement idéal en bord de plage. Vieil hôtel charmant. Cuisine excellente.
Rien.
Obviously the location is great for walking to the beach, Stanley Park etc. Not convenient for access to light rail but that’s the trade off. The charm of a heritage property with rich history is also nice.
Other than the location, the stay was pretty bare bones for amenities and/or luxury. For the price per night we had a view of the brick wall behind us and basic sleeping/living space. No complaints but no ‘wow’ factor either inside our room. For the price I would have expected nicer linens & blanket. Our TV remote didn’t really work and for a 3 person booking in a 3 bed room we only got 2 sets of towels, glasses, etc.
Great staff, very well located near Stanley Park
A lovely hotel which has been looked after very well. A lot of character, exactly as expected. Loved it's position by the water, close to restaurants and bus service to everywhere. The restaurant in the hotel is lovely.
Outstanding location. Beautiful and helpful staff, a lovely vibe.
We had an excellent stay. The location is amazing....best in the city. Had a drink in the bar downstairs while listening to live music and watching the sunset, it was a perfect evening.
It was a little noisy but I don;t think that can be helped, it"s a busy city. The problem is that there is no AC so you have to have the windows wide open. It was only May and we roasted. Imagine a hot day in August. I did not expect a hotel not to have AC. Big downfall that will keep us from going again.
