Lovely hotel, good location, great service, boat mooring right outside. Lovely room
Had a wonderful stay at the hotel for our winter visit in Venice. Despite the cold weather the team made all the effort to make sure we had a marvelous stay. Happy to come back!
A great location on the Grand Canal. The hotel itself is very quiet though it is close to lots of great bars and restaurants. It’s still not far from all the key attractions. It has its own water taxi dock and is right next to a vaporetto stop (Ca Rezzonico). Dorsoduro is a bit less touristy with a lot of students. We had a delightful suite with a bedroom overlooking the Rio del Malpaga and probably the most beautiful bathroom we’ve ever had. High end toiletries. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was on the terrace overlooking the Grand Canal. We also had dinner there one night which was surprisingly good.
First time to Venice, stayed at this great, 'old world charm' hotel. Lovely, well appointed room with a view of the Grand Canal. Full Breakfast on the patio was great.
Friendly & helpful staff all around.
Easy to walk to all the main attractions close by.
Very nice hotel. Terrific location. Clean, great beds. Breakfast nothing special. Quality of front office concierge variable. Canal view not worth the extra expense. If you are elderly or not particularly agile ask for a room with a walk in shower. Tubs very difficult and dangerous to exit. Look for online deals as prices vary a lot.
Emplacement exceptionnel. Cadre plein de charme. Terrasse sur le Grand Canal pour petit-déjeuner et dîner.
Niveau de service et équipements : correct, sans plus.
Location wonderful, staff fabulous, clean and comfortable.
Lovely breakfast, super clean and polite, friendly helpful staff.
Bathroom was a bit tired looking but functional. Other than that Nothing to complain about
This hotel exceeded my expectations in every way. Personalized service and very attentive staff. It’s literally beside a vaporetto stop so getting around was a breeze. Bed could have been a bit softer but otherwise it was a great experience. Didn’t try the restaurant but I did have drinks on the terrace one evening and it was lovely. Venice at night is special.
Absolutely beautiful, small hotel on the Grand Canal in Dorsoduro section of Venice. Friendly and helpful staff, wonderful breakfast and dinner in the patio overlooking the canal. Large, gorgeous room! Perfect location: quiet, yet close enough to walk to two great museums in Dorsoduro and then across the bridge into San Marco Plaza. Loved our stay!
From first email contact until the last wave as we stepped into their private taxi this hotel exceeded expectations in every way. Location on the grand canal right next to Ca ‘ Rezzonico Vaperotto stop in Dorsodoro is perfect - less than 10 minutes walk to Ponte Accademia , 15 /20 to San Marco and lots of local cafes / Osteria in Campo San Barnaba & Campo San Margherita. It is far less crowded and touristy than San Marco but still buzzy and plenty of shops / restaurants. We found everyone in the area so friendly.
Hotel is stunning , perfect mix of old world charm as beautifully restored old palazzo but with modern bathroom and air con. We had a room facing the courtyard rather than canal and it was wonderful and quiet. Beds so comfortable and rooms are cleaned and serviced twice daily, lots of storage with plenty of clothes hangers , an excellent hair dryer , toiletries , dressing gown & slippers so save on packing those! We were room only but had dinner there one night as there was a thunderstorm and it was very enjoyable. We had breakfast on the terrace on our last morning and it was delicious. Staff in this hotel are incredibly warm and helpful. Gionata on Reception was a mine of information and suggestions both before we arrived and during our stay and answered our many questions with great patience. We organised airport transfers through the hotel - part land taxi and part water taxi as hotel as its own dock. We used the hotel’s private vintage water taxi for part of the return journey which was fab. The Aliaguna stops right next to the hotel at Ca Rezzionco stop also. We enjoyed everything about this hotel and highly recommend it.
I had some trepidation about staying at Hotel Palazzo Stern because I thought from the photos online that the rooms looked a bit "long in the tooth" and not very modern. Having stayed, I am thrilled we booked this hotel. It is WONDERFUL. The rooms are traditional, but it matches the vibe of the grand canal. Sitting on the terrace of the restaurant having coffee in the morning or wine in the evening and watching the boats go by is magical. The hotel is in a great location to easily walk to many of the main sights as well as next to a vaporetto (public water taxi) stop. We hope to one day return.
Beautiful hotel in great location for major sights. The water taxi from airport stops right outside. Beautiful decor in Venetian style. Room was large and bathroom lovely. Breakfast was great, we had continental, lots of fresh bread, fruit and yoghurt, but cooked available too. Very clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful from front desk, porters, hosekeeping and breakfast staff. The location is great for bars, restaurants, bridges to cross to other side. I could not recommend this hotel enough. We will definitely be back. 5 plus stars.........
The hotel in in a fantastic location next to the grand canal, short walk to two squares filled with places to eat and drink.
The room was very clean, comfortable.
The staff were very helpfully and knowledgeable.
We Really enjoyed breakfast over looking the canal.
The hotel itself is gorgeous, inside and out. And the water taxi stop is right outside, which is super convenient for getting around Venice (although at €10 a ride, not cheap!). It's also a lovely, quiet area to stay in. The rooms are not modern, but spacious, and the housekeeping is immaculate. The bathrooms are large, but be careful as the bathtub-shower is very difficult to get in and out off, as the mosaic tub is about 2.5 feet high on the side. Also the water pressure in the shower head is inadequate for anything but the most cursory rinse. The dining room staff are gentle and kind, which makes having a meal there a very enjoyable experience, service-wise if not culinary-wise. That being said, the staff at desk, though solicitous, is not on their A game. Leave yourself ample time to arrange any service, including checking out, and do it way in advance.

The four of us (my wife and I, and our children aged 10 and 8) had a fantastic 4-night stay at the Palazzo Stern.
The building is spectacular: a 15th-century palazzo that has been remodeled but preserves a lot of elegant Venetian charm. such as marble floors in the common areas, Murano glass chandeliers. and intricately carved woodwork (note the lion newel post on the stairway). The rooms themselves were large, airy and bright, with high ceilings and luxurious decor---again in Venetian style, but not "old" seeming. My wife and I stayed in a Junior Suite at the front of the building, while our children shared a room at the back that overlooked the side canal and a garden (belonging to another palazzo). All of the spaces in the hotel felt large, but the overall feel was of a pleasantly small establishment.
As far as location goes, the terrace and several of the rooms overlook the Grand Canal, which is incredible to experience---and our room was surprisingly quiet (very little noise from boat traffic) with the windows closed. The Ca' Rezzonico vaporetto/Alilaguna stop is only about 50 feet from the hotel, so you can very quickly be on your way around the city.
The staff were friendly and helpful, and the complimentary pick-up service from Piazzale Roma in the hotel's own water taxi was a particular treat!
