This may seem extreme, but it really bothered me. We paid somewhere around $160.00 for the one night we stayed, this was including taxes and whatever other fees. The room was clean and comfortable (nothing to get excited about, but doable. The continental breakfast is what ruined the stay for me. While traveling we always stay at hotels that offer free continental breakfast, because neither of us are big morning eaters. My wife likes to get her morning coffee and I like to get a small amount of something in my stomach. This was by far the worst sausage gravy I’ve ever had in my life. There were very few microscopic flecks of sausage in the gravy, but I can live with that. What I can’t live with is how watered down it was and the horrible taste. I have never seen such watery gravy. I really believe chicken broth is thicker than their sausage gravy. Bottom line, if I ever stay at this hotel in the future, I’ll bring my own can of Libby’s sausage gravy (lol).
Again, the gravy show's how much this hotel cares about it's guests. Everyone in the dinning area commented on the nasty watery gravy. We all agreed we would be looking for other accommodations next time. So, the amount of money the hotel saves on the gravy isn't worth the damage to Fairfield's reputation and or the loss of repeat business.
Be aware that unlike most hotels, changes or cancellations of reservations must be done 7 days before your stay. The entrance road to hotel is difficult to acess and in very bad conditions. The hotel itself is showing its age and need to be renovated. Overall, there are lots of other options in the area with better rooms and more flexible reservation policies.
Great place with delicious breakfast and friendly staff
Everything with the hotel was good including the breakfast.
My one complaint is we had a room next to the highway and the noise is not blocked out very well. Of course once you’re asleep it doesn’t bother you but if a light sleeper don’t get a room next to the highway
Excellent service. I was impressed with the cleanliness in its entirety. Rooms, bedding, bathroom, dining area, lobby were all clean.
Everything was good.
I didn't spend much time at the hotel but this is my third stay in Ruston and third hotel. I'll stay here again.
I knew going into this location that they were doing some renovations. It was one of a few options on our way home after a long road trip so that is why I chose this location regardless of that fact. The lobby was very nice as was the staff member working the front desk. The elevator sounded like it was dying a slow death... we were a little concerned every time we took it. Our room was nice and large but we had some issues with the cleanliness. When we took out the sofa bed a bunch of doritos crumbs came flying out and there was a bunch of crumbs and items underneath the bed as well. The bathroom floor had not been mopped and the body wash container in the shower was empty. When we went to checkout in the morning, the workers who were working on the renovations, were blocking the loading zone so we couldn't pull up our car to load our luggage.
We appreciated that the bathroom door was actually a real door, and not a sliding door like other chains are changing to. We really enjoyed utilizing the pool and hot tub and those were nice and clean. The location was nice and safe, however it was a little difficult to find off the road.
Rooms-Lovely. Food-delicious. Beds-super comfy.
Enjoyed my stay
Lovely and clean!
All was ok but pool wasn’t clean or very clear
The food for breakfast was not good but the staff and cleaning people were good.
I would not go there again. Can not recommend
We checked out early because something was crawling and biting on us all night, I was waiting for checkout to ask how was our stay, they didn’t because we won’t stay there again
I and my husband stayed here with my granddaughters softball team. Upon checking in I waited 15 minutes for someone to show up at the front desk. At the same time, one of the team’s parents notified the front desk that they had no shower curtain, trash can, towels or toilet paper in their room. They also notified the desk that the carpet in their room was wet. Later ( two days) it was determined the ac unit was leaking which caused a leak and ceiling damage in the room below. During our 4 night stay, the elevator was constantly out of order. At one time,
Hard to get to
Staff is very nice
Late check in however no one was answering phones or bell to check in.
We enjoyed the breakfast offered. It was a quiet and pleasant atmosphere. Housekeeping did a good job, as well.
Hot shower, clean room, soft bed, quiet area, nice working pool, yummy hot breakfast, and a decent area for walking the dog. My only complaint is the heavy perfume smell in the room, presumably from carpet/upholstery cleaner. I much prefer hard laminate floors in the room.
The hotel is currently being renovated, so some of this might not be accurate after my review. There were a couple areas in our bathroom that needed it. The front desk was very friendly. The room itself was clean and there was no strange odor. Always grateful when hotels offer a non-dairy alternative, so thank you!
However, the bed was SO firm that I barely slept. Some people like firm beds, but that’s not me. We only stayed one night then traveled to another Fairfield in TX for a tournament and that bed wasn’t as firm (thankfully), so it must vary. The renovation started around 9am in the rooms beside us. We were already up, so this wasn’t a problem, but I’d request to not be near this if you’re sensitive to noises. This isn’t a review to the hotel, but possibly helpful to travelers. Make sure you turn into the hotel and not at the light back onto the highway or you have to drive additional 15 minutes. Lol. This mattered a lot to us because we’d already been in the car for 12 hours.
Overall, I’d recommend it here if you don’t mind firm beds. :)
