Good food,
Pros:

Good was very good. Staff were very nice and accommodating.

Cons:

Room wasn't clean. Dirty mirror, hair all over the bathroom, soap scum in the shower. The carpet had many stains and wasn't hoovered fully. Bunk bed steps were black from traffic. The mattress in the bed collapsed when lying on it. When I checked in, at evening time the corridor outside my room had breakfast trays that clearly had been sitting there all day and didn't get removed until late morning. The vent in the bathroom was covered in dust. For the price I expected a higher standard.

Excellent, comfortable hotel with very good service
Pros:

Excellent room with sea view. Lovely and clean. Beds comfortable with good-quality bedding (and towels), easy-to-understand/control aircon system. Lovely bathroom with a walk-in shower which was hot and powerful and again with easy-to-follow levers.

Did not get the ubiquitous and slightly patronising "help us be green" signs that you often get in hotels and felt that they were making a genuine effort to do so without ramming it down our throats. Separate recycling - although it would help for international visitors to exactly know WHAT goes in where (i.e plastic/glass/paper etc).

Had a small fridge (basically an empty mini-bar) in the room which was brilliant for keeping "proper" milk and orange juice cold and any food items before getting on the ferry next day. So it meant we could get a decent cup of tea instead of having to use the little long-life pods (a big plus from me on that one)! Also useful for anyone with medication that needs to be kept cold. A really nice touch. Also lovely man servicing room left me some extra tea-bags (Bewleys), so again I was happy.

Outdoor car park but it did not feel particularly unsafe (and anyway we could see our car from our window).

Restaurant was okay - food was good quality although choice for vegetarians was a bit limited. Breakfast was good and the poached eggs (to order) were excellent and perfectly cooked. We had a late breakfast and there was still a good selection on buffet.

Would definitely stay again.

Cons:

Not much really - everything was pretty good.

If I had to be really picky, some of the gym equipment was a little tired - particularly the rowing machines which could both do with a service and the one I used actually failed to record at the end. Both were Concept 2 though (and they also had a Ski-Erg in a separate room). 20 metre swimming pool was good (had a swimming lane and a place for recreational swimmers/kids). Pool temperature was excellent - not too hot as many other hotel pools often are. Signs for deep and shallow end should be a little bigger as some of us can't see a thing when we take our glasses off and put googles on!

Car park ticketing system was also a bit of faff as you had to validate it every time you left. Not too bad unless you wanted to leave at the same time as check-in/check-out then there was some wait.

Some noise from the road and in their next refit they might want to consider TRIPLE-glazing instead of double - especially for the rooms at the front of the hotel. Not too bad though especially for a weekend)

Staff were warm and friendly and the food was excellent - albeit limited choice for vegetarians.

Home away from home.
Pros:

Home away from home! Can’t fault it; same familiar faces, same level of comfort and expertise.

Cons:

We didn’t have one of the refurbished rooms as we did the last time but the room we got was comfortable.

Sadly lacking expectations from former visits
Pros:

The hotel general areas were nice and spacious - breakfast was good

Cons:

he hotel and food facilities were nice, but despite booking 2 rooms ( 1 for 1 person and 1 for 2 people) the single person was given a beautiful modern fresh room that was quiet and spacious which my mother loved, but my daughter and myself were given a much smaller and darker older room which had scaffolding outside and a party directly under our window which kept us awake until gone 1am. I did express this during my stay and the receptionist actually shrugged her shoulders.

We have used this hotel many times over the years albeit not during the past couple of years and have always loved it, this left a bad impression and doubt we will venture here again sadly !

Good location and great staff
Pros:

Parking right next door. Very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was peaceful, well cooked and plenty of staff to help. We had a evening meal in the restaurant.

Cons:

We found the beds too soft, but a personal opinion.
There was a couple of weddings during our stay and the guests were very noisy in the middle of the night. Ideally the wedding guests could be put on a separate floor

Pros:

Sadly, not much. The hotel is a means to an end, Not a choice destination.
A bit like an up-market Wetherspoons.
Food was better than expected, and staff tried hard.

Cons:

The hotel is undergoing refurbishment, and we clearly had a room in the older bit! Whilst comfortable and clean, most of the room was tired.
There was bright exterior lighting directly mounted to the outside bedroom windows which the blackout curtains struggled to repel.
No aircon, so in summer heat the windows are open, and passing yobbish cars using the seafront as a race track were a nuisance.
