Avoid!! Nothing like the pictures! The exterior is overgrown and dirty. People are lurking in the shadows. The foyer resembles a poorly maintained corner shop with fridge cabinets. Piled up furniture and random stuff everywhere, dirty plates lying on the floor. Hard to believe I was in the right place! More like walking into a squat. Gobsmacked that such a beautiful building could be treated like this. I did not feel safe. Lone females beware.

Staff was cooperative and cleanliness was great according to the price they charged means it was economical

they have bedbugs!!!

Parking fine, staff fine, accommodation absolutely appallin, bed uncomfortable, bathroom dirty,damaged fittings, bedroom walls dirty , heating on constant.

Parking was easy during the day but after getting back from a day out we had to drive around to find a space due to a function at the adjacent venue
The whole hotel including reception, reception toilets, bedrooms, corridors, bathrooms were dated and disgusting.
There was work going on around the hotel.
The receptionists were friendly and helpful though.

The building was under renovation with workmen and building material name around a large section (excluding the bedrooms ). The building is old and in a state of disrepair. The bedrooms have been partially renovated but there is much to be done and there is a need for a deep clean and a repair and repaint of the rooms. But ..,., cannot make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.

Baylis Houses is a complete waste of money. I paid around £3,500 for family catering, and it was the biggest mistake. The food was terrible, the quality was shocking, and everything was worse than expected. Absolute disappointment – I would never recommend this place to anyone. Save your money and avoid this scam!

Remove this hostel from the website, absolutely disgusting

Room was clean the bathroom was out dated shower mixer was half off the wall, no tap for the bath,plenty off parking.

The partial refurbished room had clearly be done by a diy enthusiast

I have stayed in a lot of hotels over my years working up and down the country but i can say wholeheartedly this hotel takes the award for the worst i have stayed in. The pictures you see online before you read the reviews are false and should be taken down instantly. The drive up to the hotel is pretty grand to be fair and i think all the money may have been spent on that. The hotel isn't in the main building its tucked round the back. The receptionist on arrival was pleasant but that is as far as the good points of this hotel end. Got to my room and it was small and dirty is all i can describe it as. The bed was hard you could feel every spring, the shower didn't drain properly, the tv had no remote control, the air con dripped water out of it ALL night. I just couldn't wait to get out of here in the morning. Please never stay here even like me if it was just for work and having a nights sleep god help you if you bring your wife or children here.

STAYED AT THIS PLACE A COUPLE OF TIMES BUT THIS WAS DEFINATELY THE WORST, THE ROOM WAS IN A STATE OF DISREPAIR PRETTY POOR CONDITION, SINK AREA ROTTEN IN PLACES, WALLS HAD DIRTY/SPLASH MARKS, FLOOR NOT GREAT, QUILT COVER DISGUSTING, WENT TO BED AND GOT BITTEN THE BED HAD BED BUGS APPALLING, INFORMED RECEPTION THE NEXT DAY THEY SAID THAT COULDNT HAPPEN BECAUSE ITS ALSWAY OCCUPIED, NO MATE IVE BEEN BITTEN ALL NIGHT FROM YOUR ROOM , NOT HAPPY DONT THINK I WILL STAY THERE AGAIN, HOTELS NEED TO UNDERSTAND THEY HAVE A DUTY OF CARE TO THEIR CUSTOMERS,

I have never seen anything so disgusting. You should take it off your books, shameful if you went to see it you would die. You need to take it off your books

Our room was dirty with leaves on the window sill with accumulated dust on the skirting. Bedroom lights had a blown bulb and a fire door was defective not closing on its mechanism making our stay potentially unsafe.

Just wanted a cheap hotel for the night to get my head down as I was working away so didn’t expect much, checked in and was handed the card to my room they even wrote the number in maker pen on the card, as I opened the door and bust in to the dark room someone sat up on the bed in shock shouting WTF and coming towards me
I apologised and went back to reception ,
The lady apologised and gave me a new room
However I didn’t sleep well due to what had transpired

THE IS A REASON WHY A REASON WHY THIS HOTEL IS SO CHEAP, DON'T DO IT AND STAY AT THE MANY OTHER HOTELS.

Stayed at this supposed 4 star hotel which is actually a 1 star hotel this past weekend. This 1 star hotel is VERY outdated, needs quite a bit of money spent by the owner to bring it up to a 4 star standard. My partner and I saw a family of rats on the outside premises, disgusting.

I booked a family room which was spacious, but was dirty, smelly, the sofa in the room was literally on its last legs. The bedsheets smelt of sweat, either they weren't changed or wahed or the cleaning products used need to be changed. Complained to receptionist and was provided another room..went to see this room and the bedsheets were the same as our current room with the added bonus of a brown stain on the shower curtain (see imagine). Complained to the receptionist again who the suggested a double room instead (which is cheaper than family). This was alot smaller and ever so slightly modern than the family rooms.

We took this room instead but we're not offered anything but the sorry excuse of a hotel compensation for the downgrade in room.

Receptionist said there was no manager on site, refused to give contact details of manager.

Honestly, don't waste your time or money with this place. You will be so disappointed and disgusted by it.

Terrifying. All documented on pictures: dirty bathroom with spiders in basin, no soap in soap bottle which was falling from the wall. No bath mat on the slippery floor. Hanging moulded wallpaper in the room nr5, mould in the bathroom, cracked sink, filthy mattress, duvets, and pillows smelled horrible. I had sleepless night there. Filthy and worn out chair in the middle of the room.Spiders running from every coner. No fridge. Hotels like this should be taken off Booking with immediate effect. Even more have to be shut and inspected. This hotel is far from 4*. So, I take it as a miselling. It is a dirty place where people get being misled by info online. I wonder, are there quality, safety, and customer service standarts apply to this hotel? Or they exempted? Avoid this place at any cost.
