We had a lovely stay and felt rested at this really nice hotel.
The food was amazing both for breakfasts and for our evening meal. Problem resolved in a positive way and very quickly.
Staff friendly.
Plenty of parking.
Nice warm pool. Didn’t use the gym but it looked ok.
Easy to get to - buses to the university regularly and the hotel is next to it.
Brilliant offers if you have a child at the university- they can join you for a free breakfast and also an offer on their evening meal which was really nice.
Definitely recommend and look forward to staying again.
We visited recently for a two night stay .
On arrival we were given a complimentary glass of port - very nice.
Our room was lovely, nice to see a Gideon Bible in the bedside drawer . Complimentary tea, coffee , milk, biscuits and water . Plus a bottle of Prosecco which was part of the booking we had made .
Staff are all , without exception really pleasant and accommodating.
We ate in the food works restaurant both nights . The small plates menu is exceptional once you have got used to how it works ! The waitress was extremely attentive and polite, I can’t remember her name but she is studying accountancy at the uni.
fantastic venue rooms comfy and clean, the food was excellent felt very posh but cozy and so reasonably priced.Everyone of the staff were friendly polite and fun bent over backwards to help with any queries. The grounds and views were so beautiful, easy access parking. If anyone is thinking of planning a wedding there go for it as it was amazing. I have stayed in many hotels but I can honestly say this topped them all
Great night, lively and fun, we enjoyed our stay. The hotel is nice and comfortable. Food excellent. We also spent time in the sauna and jacuzzi it was nice and clean. We will return for another party night or if there is a good deal/package available.
We have been coming to the Lancaster House Hotel for a winter break for many years and it never disappoints. A comfortable hotel in a great location with friendly helpful staff.
A beautiful hotel and all the staff are wonderful. We stayed December and the hotel was decorated so amazing. We booked 2 nights with the second night a pre booked dinner with the Haffner Orchestra.
When we arrived our room was available. It was quite a distance from the main reception area. We were asked if we needed help with our luggage but we declined. Reception staff said we could enter via a fire door which was closer to our room.
Once settled we went to the bar area and checked the menu, we also checked the Foodworks restaurant menu. Both were amazing but we decided to try the restaurant tapas wine tasting menu....it was amazing.
Our room was large with a king comfy bed so slept well.
We has a lovely breakfast which we could not fault. There was a buffet style self serve while your hot food option was being prepared We decided to try thr pool, this had a lane for swim training and there were some using this option.
The event with the orchestra was lovely. It started in the hotel reception with candles and a pianist playing, fizz & canapes. Then we were all taken to the function room which was beautifully decorated. There was a quartet orchestra on the dance floor surrounded by candles. We had pre-booked our 2 course meal. Both opting for turkey roast as a main. We had different desserts both really nice and then coffee & mince pies. A very pleasant evening with an orchestra playing soft music varying from traditional to modern tunes.
Check out was at 11 so no rush which was good. We had a lovely relaxing breakfast in the restaurant before checking out.
Lovely hotel, great room with comfy bed. Friendly staff and food was amazing. We had an evening meal and breakfast.
Had a lovely overnight stay to attended the Burns night supper with some friends. A very well organised function. Food and staff were excellent. Nothing to much trouble. Room was clean and tidy. Will return.
We booked this using a deal with breakfast and dinner allowance included. The room was clean and spacious with a very large comfortable bed. Also very peaceful, no noise at night. We had issues with the shower in the bathroom as it would go boiling then freezing but there was a lovely bath so we opted to use that instead. Great tea & coffee assortment with fresh milk in the fridge.
The breakfast was fantastic, plenty of choice and friendly staff. Dinner at the foodworks was also delicious, highly recommend the teriyaki beef!
The sandeman bar is lovely and the open fires at the hotel nice to sit by, however the bar would benefit be open later especially on a Friday night as it was shut at 21:45 and nowhere else walkable for a drink. The bar shuts when it gets quiet so it is unpredictable if it will be open or not. It is only 15 minutes in a taxi into the centre though.
I am not taking the leisure club connected to the hotel into consideration for this review as we felt the hotel and breakfast were good value for the price we paid. For those planning on staying at this hotel for a spa or relaxing break, I would not recommend. The pool area is small and very busy including children’s swimming lessons. The steam room was out of order during our visit and the jacuzzis very small and were full the whole time.
Overall the hotel, staff, location and food are lovely but I wouldn’t recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a relaxing spa break.
Great location, very convenient for the university campus, good room, excellent service with helpful, professional staff, beautiful location. We were a bit disappointed by the unexpected parking charge of 12 pounds, added after we checked out. That seems a bit unnecessary, as the car park is part of the hotel property. Parking is as essential as a bed or bathroom, and I don't like it being treated as an optional extra. I checked the Ts & Cs - the charge is mentioned, but tucked away in section 18. I doubt if most people read through it all. To be fair, it's still a good hotel though.
Excellent service in the Sandemann Bar. The staff are very helpful and pleasant and attentive.
excellent
would use again
leisure facitities very good
friendly staff
good location off m6
............
My third time at the hotel and just as always - great service, wonderful facilities and amazing staff.
Located next to the uni with spacious rooms equipped with tea & coffee facilities. Spa and pool offering well priced treatments and a roaring fire in the lobby for winter evenings
Nice enough for one night. The Heating required a PHD to figure out how the controls worked with no visible instructions.. I appreciate they are upgrading bathrooms in some rooms, so I'm not sure why we were given one that had not been upgraded. The extractor fan was stuck on high all night.
We didn't eat here but wanted a drink in the bar, but it was clear from the staff they wanted to close up at 11pm, Not a welcoming cozy bar at all, which is a shame.
We are regular guests at Lancaster House, and use their “luxury suites”. We have often stayed when functions were taking place but that has never been a problem. On this occasion we were barred from taking the direct route from our room to restaurant as the function organiser had requested privacy. (The route involves passing through the function bar area.). We were forced to take a long detour through the hotel involving many stairs. My wife has mobility issues and finds stairs particularly difficult.
Imagine our surprise, the following morning, when we discovered that this particular function was the Hotel Staff Party! It would seem the staff’s enjoyment is considered superior to the guests’.
We are rapidly reconsidering our loyalty to this establishment.
Very friendly staff whether you’re in the health club or Sandpiper bar .
The health club is lovely and so relaxing and would highly recommend.
Having been to the hotel and leisure club a number of times there is a high standard throughout.
Well done to all the management and staff.
Visited the Leisure centre and Sandpiper bar for a drink and meal.
I have to congratulate the staff ,
attentive, Friendly and helpful.
Great experience and we will be back.
We stayed for 3 nights during December 2025 with the twin bed, breakfast and dinner option (so just have to pay for drinks) which was fantastic. Comfortable, clean room, friendly helpful staff, lovely bar and restaurant. The location is very convenient for the university and it's not too far into town. Didn't use the health club on this occasion but I have on previous stays and it's a great addition.
We stayed for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.What a great time we had, everything from checking in to when we left was perfect, met some lovely people who we shared a table with,Tammy was amazing making sure everyone was served quickly also her dancing with one of the waitresses, sorry didn’t get her name , you should be very proud of all your staff,Hopefully back next year xx
