Beautiful building, good location
We didn’t have a great stay at this hotel, unfortunately. The experience was completely ruined by the air conditioning. The room was extremely hot overnight—it felt like sleeping in a sauna. The aircon wasn’t working at all, and we were waking up every hour because of the heat. I even have a video showing the issue.
In the morning, I spoke to my brother who was staying in a room opposite (we were both on the first floor), and he had the same experience—he was awake until 3am because his air conditioning also wasn’t working.
When we raised this with the front desk in the morning, the staff member was helpful and polite, but explained that this was a known issue and couldn’t be fixed locally. We were moved to another room, but frustratingly, my brother couldn’t be moved and was only given a fan.
What’s most disappointing is that this was a known problem. If the hotel had informed us in advance or provided fans from the start, it would have made a big difference to our night.
We were staying here ahead of a wedding the next day, and the lack of sleep left us absolutely exhausted, which really impacted our experience.
Overall, a very frustrating stay. And not a manager on site to apologise!
The hotel is in a great location, which was perfect for exploring Exeter town centre & a spot of shopping? Then heading over to the quayside for drinks in the evening. I loved the mix of the historic building with contemporary decor. Had a dip in the pool which was great, it was warm despite the weather being chilly, such a treat in the UK to swim outdoors. The amaretto sour night cap was also a highlight.
Nothing all good.
Great central location. Friendly responsive staff. Quick to act and change / upgrade my room when there was am issue with noise.
Breakfast was delicious.
Initial room was a cosy double and didn’t quite feel like the normal hotel du vin vibe - and not great value but the second room was wonderful and very much recommended.
Vist went well - you do need to call the hotel in advance to reserve your parking space. Submitting it on your booking form is not sufficient. Very helpful front of house team sorted things out for me. Junior suite was great as was the food and bar staff and the room itself. Definitely would stay again
Shower was great but you do need to be fast or it does have a tendency to overflow. Book parking in advance! Room was very hot after long day of sunshine but team sorted with fans and opening windows before arrival. Overall great, its just an old building.
Good sized, clean room. Friendly reception staff. Breakfast very good - but additional cost. Location good for accessing Exeter.
Hotel was amazing , even tho near a main road no sound could be heard in the room, bar and food were to notch and customer service from all involved was exceptional
