Love this hotel! Perfect mix of old and new, returning to where my husband and I had our first date 23 years ago!
For the price we paid, breakfast included would have been wonderful. Sadly I forgot my swimsuit otherwise I’d have used the pool. Asked if I could pop back another time instead given I’m a local but this was very politely declined!
Very comfortable bed and duvet.
Nice bistro. Excellent choice of breakfast.
Room
No carpark
Staff and the hospitality was incredible
Room was small, but aware that comes with an old building
Breakfast good. Rooms clean and comfortable. Staff very attentive. Location excellent for city centre.
Hotel advertises parking, but does not say it charges £20 per day and has limited spaces that really have to be prebooked.
Comfort of room and ckeanliness

A lovely hotel, with tasteful decor. A lovely area for sitting in at the bar, and a very nice dining area. The staff are very approachable , friendly and helpful.
The room size, we were booked into a cozy room, it was a bit on the cool side, although the bathroom was warm!
Outdoor pool - heated too!! Comfy bed and an historical building
Nothing
I recently stayed at Hotel du Vin Exeter and it was such a lovely experience from start to finish. It’s a beautiful place to stay, full of charm and character.
The room was absolutely stunning – stylish, spotless, and very comfortable. The bed was incredibly cosy, ensuring a great night’s sleep. I especially loved the beautiful bath and the powerful shower, which made the stay feel extra luxurious.
The food in the bistro was excellent, as always – consistently high quality and full of flavour.
What truly made the experience exceptional, though, was the staff. A special thank you to Emma, Toby, and Martin for taking such wonderful care of me on my special occasion. Your warmth and attention to detail made it truly memorable.
Thank you all so much!
We stayed for an early valentines treat with a spa package.
The staff throughout our stay were extremely polite and nothing was too much trouble.
We had not pre-booked parking but were able to secure a spot at reception (car park is small and we were lucky, I would recommend pre-booking!)
Check in was smooth and our room was lovely. Well equipped.
We then both had a massage booked which we upgraded to a full body massage at the spa reception (at an additional cost). Both Eve and Cerys were very good and we left feeling equally manipulated but rested.
We enjoyed a quick dip in the pool in the rain before getting ready for our included dinner.
After a few drinks in the bar we walked through to the restaurant, we were waited on by Martin who was a lovely chap, very down to earth and attentive. We also saw Martin the next morning at breakfast and he was equally as professional as the night before.
However, our ‘man of the stay’ was Jake. His knowledge, attention to detail and enthusiasm for his work was positively charming. It is so freshening to see someone enjoy what they are doing and he will go far with his positive attitude.
On the whole, all the staff were a credit to the hotel, food was delicious, wine was perfect and very enjoyable stay. Definitely recommend.
This was a fantastic property, well situated within easy reach of the city , modern decor and facilities but also very comfortable,
the spa facilities are amazing I had a pedicure and my sister a glow facial beautiful temple spa products used very relaxing and felt well looked after and truly pampered
Toby on reception was amazing, before we arrived and extremely welcoming when we arrived, Toby is very accomplished and understood the needs of his clients with great attention to detail and ensured our stay ran smoothly
the bistro service was impeccable especially Lydia W who looked after us so well at breakfast it was a pleasure to see her the 3 mornings of our stay, nothing was too much trouble and she is a lovely person to chat with as well, extremely personable and an asset to the bistro team at Hotel du Vin for sure
I would highly recommend a stay at this property
Excellent service
What a really lovely experience - we had the valentines meal and overnight stay - the dining experience was made really special by the attention of Martin and Jake - what absolute stars who clearly love their job and giving customers a really great experience.
An emergency overnight stay due a hospital admission. Arrived late and the staff were so caring and welcoming despite the hour
The bed and bed linen were the most comfy I have had in any hotel
Would have been nice to have had a pastry in the lounger area as full breakfast was too much for appetite
Positives:
- good location in the city
- room was good size and comfortable
- enjoyed the quality of the food for dinner and breakfast
- great service at dinner
- nice aesthetics - beautiful building and grounds
- nice bar and attentive staff (see below)
Areas of improvement:
- check in process a disaster, the young chap had no idea what he was doing
- waiting to be seated at breakfast took 15 minutes, no acknowledgement
- bat staff much less attentive after 9.30pm, lot of chatter between themselves
- expensive
To be honest, not sure I will stay again. Not worth the premium
Lovely
