Abbey Sands Hotel - Mediocre
Pros:

Room size was good.

Cons:

Generally run down and in need of some attention.
Even though outdoor pool isnt accessible, cleaning around the outdoor area would help. Lots of detritus!
Breakfast was a little lacking for vegetarian options.
Parking charge. Should be included in the price, or offset on arrival.

Pros:

Practically speaking, everything was fine; the room was very large and had solid furniture.Great pool and jacuzzi.A major downside was the lack of air conditioning; otherwise, it was fine considering the price we paid.

Cons:

The only downside is that I wouldn't recommend a room on the top floor during hot days; the lack of air conditioning is really noticeable. There was a fan, and we even asked for an extra one, but it didn't help—we couldn't sleep.

Pros:

Location only

Cons:

Nothing like the pictures, the garden is unkept and much smaller than the picture shows, the bar was always closed, the whole place has this dead vibe from the moment you step in. It's almost like they don't want you to use any shared spaces , it baffled me as I never been to a hotel with a bar closed mid July ! Perhaps it's their strategy to not pay staff and make guests stay outside or in the bedrooms only. Never saw anyone relaxing in the bar or balcony etc as like I said it looks inside as everything is shut. A very strange place , I can't believe the overall score of 8 points, it must be all fake reviews.bed base dirty, carpet not hoovered properly , super hot in the room, the place felt off from first minute in , would definitely go Torquay again as it's beautiful but this hotel was really bad choice based on fake pictures. If you are used to lively hotels with a nice atmosphere for a cocktail and snacks at the bar in the evening this place will ruin your holiday experience. BAD

Très agréable
Pros:

I enjoyed my stay and breakfast was plentiful. Value for money and close to everything.
Pros:

Proximity to the Beach, park, train station, seafront, bars/restaurants.
Our bedroom was lovely with a kingsized bed and lovely high ceilings and plasterwork.

Cons:

Sadly it is tired and needs a face lift as has lovely features and garden/pool but not looked after.
I understand this is not always possible and the current Staff are doing as much as they can.
Extra charge for the car park that I was unaware of?
