Residence Inn by Marriott Newport Middletown

Great breakfast. Helpful staff.

Awesome staff and amenities.

This Residence Inn is dilapidated, deteriorating & depressing. Marriott should have closed it for remodeling years ago. From the stains on the threadbare dirty carpets, junkyard banged up furniture, to towel racks & tissue holders falling off the walls, water pipes bursting & water shutoffs, this Residence Inn is a stain on the Marriott Brand name! My husband and I stay almost exclusively @ Marriott Residence Inns in a 2 bedroom suite as we travel from MA to FL up & down the coast each year & we expect the best from Marriott.

The rooms are clean, big and super comfortable. The location is 15-20 minutes from downtown Newport. We went for a labor day wedding and the prices of hotels in Newport were incredibly unaffordable for us, so this was the perfect solution. We got an Uber to get to an evening wedding on the water and everything worked out perfectly.

I would not change anything

Really nice for family’s need more space than a traditional room.

The location was very convenient, just minutes from the beaches and downtown. The staff was very attentive, and the breakfast was excellent.

Easy drive into Newport!

Just spent 35 days here attending a course at the US Navy War College. From the time we arrived after a long travel day, and graciously met by Peter, the best swing shift (3-11 pm) hotel professional I’ve ever encountered in over 900 Marriott stays. Until we departed 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Service provided 24/7! Peter and the staff are a treasure! Never one issue during our stay.
The Residence is in a perfect location, (8 mins to the Navy War College ⚓️) restaurant's (lots of options) and a good grocery store a couple blocks away. Free parking. The cleaning team (Veronica is a 🌟) is amazing. They have a couple employees constantly roaming and providing assistance from any repairs in a room (only once - fixed in 5 mins) to maintaining a beautiful pool and hot tub. Adequate fitness Center with enough to get a full workout.
Cannot thank the management and staff enough for a wonderful stay. We forward to coming back in the fall 🍁 🍂 see you soon and thanks for a great stay!

Great staff went out of their way for anything we needed...will stay again at this property!!

It’s important to note that ALL staff we had contact with was polite! When called about problems or needed supplies it came promptly.

Older property that desperately needs to be refurbished for the price it charges! I understand its Newport and location is close to all things Newport, but still at least provide some value for the price of the room?
Stayed only one night out of the 5 booked.
**Pet rooms is only on the first and second floor**. The hotel has 4 floors.
Bfast is excellent! Lots of choices and especially appreciates the ‘cage free’ eggs!

- dishwasher was not mounted so it tips over when u open the door.
- dishwasher has a wrong bottom rack that blocks the opening of the dish soap compartment during wash cycle. I would suspect minimal soap is used as it cakes up in the compartment at end of even the longest cycle . Its unhygienic!
- AC operates but had problem turning it off because of the noise of the unit right outside one of the 4 windows.
- Bathroom sink drains at a turtle’s pace.
- Toilet stopped up on the first flash.
- Room smells stale. I suspect it’s the dirty carpet and sofa?

accommodations were spacious; breakfast was excellent; staff was friendly and helpful.

Would highly recommend this hotel. All interactions with staff from making reservations, checking in/out, housekeeping, breakfast staff, and pool maintenance were all positive. Staff were all friendly and helpful. My room was immaculate, the outside clean and tidy, and all common areas.
Heather helped with all steps of this reservation to plan a celebration for a disabled family member’s birthday stay. Reserved was a 2 bedroom handicapped suite. There was a king size bed in one room with roll in shower which was set up with bilateral bed transfer bars, rolling shower chair, grab bars for toilet. The other room had a queen size bed with a tub/shower bathroom. Anthony from maintenance had the pool and spa lift battery all pre-charged & John was the backup assistant. There were 2 separate lifts, one for the pool and one for the whirlpool spa which worked great. Sara & Elaine at the desk were really helpful as well. As a bonus the hotel happened to have a wheelchair that we could use while at the hotel.
Breakfast was delicious &I especially liked the vegetarian option of a large pot of oatmeal with available blueberries and sliced strawberries to add, as well as canisters with chocolate chips, sunflower and pumpkin seeds, walnuts, sliced almonds ,etc. They even had oat milk at the coffee station.
The kitchenette in my particular room had a full size refrigerator stovetop, microwave, coffee maker, dishwasher but no toaster or oven. There was a toaster in the breakfast room in the after breakfast hours. There were bowls with lids, spaghetti strainer, pots, lids, dishes,,silverware, cups(small and narrow though), glasses, serving utensils and even a wine opener.The room had 3 TVs too.

The property was perfect for a stay with my family including a young baby and a toddler. We were very happy with the accommodations and the value of our stay.

Couldn’t be better!!!! Clean, good location, very well maintained and a fabulous, friendly, professional staff!
The breakfast was great with a large assortment and the women who supervised it kept it well stocked and clean at all times. The entire staff was welcoming to us and our kids and grandkids. Really couldn’t be better!
