El Rodeo Estancia Boutique Hotel & Steakhouse

Welcoming ranch-style place, to enjoy the ‘sabaneros’ experience of Costa Rica. Large room for meals, rich local menu. Very large rooms (with several stairs to climb). Quite silent at night. Not in the city center but a good stay if you come by car/private bus. Strong WiFi.

This is a nice hotel! An oasis in the city ...large property with tennis courts and pool. Restaurant on site. Delicious full breakfast included. We enjoyed our dinner and the traditional restaurant ( although my husband's "Cowboy " steak was tough. Jonathan at reception was excellent and answered our questions with great English. He arranged a taxi to the airport for us!

We stay 2 nights before our flight back, nice place good and convinient with restaurant comfortable room ,clean and friendly .

Fantastic location but seemed so private. The steakhouse and friendly service were super top-notch!

We chose to stay in Rodeo for our first night in CR, as it was close to the airport and had a steakhouse so was a good layover option before touring.

The hotel is basic but clean and the receptions staff were very friendly. We were told there were no reservations available for the steakhouse. Fortunately we spoke to the restaurant directly and managed to get a table toward the end of service, there were no other dining options around the hotel had we not. The surrounding roads are busy and limited pedestrian footpaths (which appears normal). San Jose centre is around 16km away.

We booked a car via the hotel (separate company) but we are very dissatisfied with what has been supplied and not what was agreed and consequently overpriced.

It was very good

Stayed here two separate nights. Check in was super quick. Vegetarian options for dinner were very limited. A large salad was very satisfying. The beds were large and comfortable if a bit high off the floor. The coffee maker worked fine. The room and bathroom were spacious. The first room we stayed had two showers, one inside the bathtub and one outside. Due to poor plumbing and drainage the water never drained and instead started flowing into the sink areas and also the room.
Breakfast was very good and satisfying. The hotel grounds were pretty and well maintained. The staff were helpful and courteous in the reception, housekeeping and particularly the restaurant. The wifi worked great. Overall an excellent option for staying near the airport.

very comfy bed, great pool,its located on an exc spot. Customer service is terrific! Lots of parking as well and very safe. You have a mall sround 5min away in Lindora


Cons

We did not like that the restaurant closed early on Sunday. We were not able to have dinner there, as we had planned. Had to go off-site to dine. That was one reason we picked this place - ease of evening dining.

We have stayed here 3 times in the past 2 years. Only for a night each time but the rooms are clean and spacious. The beds are very comfortable and the restaurant serves wonderful food. The staff is always very friendly and helpful.

Nice property for a quick stay over in San jose

Beautiful, quaint hotel. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. We have stayed here twice now. Would definitely recommend.

Very pretty clean and nicely landscaped

Reading the older reviews, the hotel has been improved . Rooms are good. Although some power outlets in our room are hidden behind furniture just at the spot you need them (like the desk and bed).

A bar has been build but is not( yet?) in use. The associated restaurant is ok for lunch and diner. We used it also for drinks. A very busy road is nearby but not an issue in the hotel. However, for breakfast is it an issue: breakfast is on a terras next to the road. Terrible noise. We asked for a table in the restaurant or on the terras on the other side of the building. It was impossible. Unbelievable. We left without breakfast.

I stayed here for 6 days on my visit to Costa Rica.

The Good:
The steakhouse restaurant itself is very nice.
The staff is very friendly and professional.
There is free breakfast every morning,
Birds will wake you up (that's a good thing).
Security at the front gate.

The Bad:

We arrived during what appears to be hotel renovations so there were lots of bricks/materials laying around the property as you enter. My view in a king suite was bricks and steel rods.

The free breakfast only has 4 options so if you stay longer than a week you are eating the same food everyday.

The pool is at the front of the hotel - and while there it was not clean, so we never used it.

The king suite did not have a phone or an iron. Not sure how we are to order room service without a phone. Had to ask front desk for an iron.

I put the light on in the bathroom and was greeted by the largest cockroach I have ever seen in my life - talk about fear factor.

The hotel is on a busy street.

The rooms look old.

The front desk closes at 10. One night our key would not work so we had to look for security to get a new key at 1 in the morning.

Very nice property with extremely helpful staff.
