Courtyard by Marriott Düsseldorf Hafen

We stayed at this hotel 2 nights during our visit to Dusseldorf at the end of November 2025. While the staff are very friendly and caring, we found the hotel quite aged and it wasn't a great experience.

The biggest of our issues was that the air conditioning was not working properly so there was no way to heat the room and it was absolutely freezing. Even though we reported this via Marriott App's chat function, no action was taken. Nobody even came to check the room. The room door was also problematic and we really needed to slam it to properly close it when we get in and out of the room. The bathroom was also showing the age of the hotel with several dents on the ceramics of the sink. The water was not draining well in the bathtub which was icky. Also, possibly due to use of recycled papers, toilet paper was rough as a newspaper. Similarly , the towels were not soft and aged as well. The provided bath robes in the rooms were not matching and one was almost peeling off that we opted to not use it. Finally the hallway carpets seemed like they had not been cleaned for 10 years and needed to be renewed. Considering that the location was not the most central and required a 15 minutes tram journey to the centre, we weren't pleased with our stay.

On the positive side, the breakfast buffet was nice and enjoyable. Our room had a great view which was lovely to look at when we woke up. The lobby area and the sauna were in great condition as well. The room had pretty much all the basic amenities and we didn't find ourselves scrambling to find something we need. We also appreciate that the hotel staff acknowledged our Marriott status and offered a room upgrade and benefits.

Overall, we wouldn't recommend this hotel to our friends because of the location and staying in a cold room for 2 nights at 0 degree temperatures outside. The hotel would have left us with a much more pleasant experience with a bit of renovation and fixing the aging systems and furnishings.

Not the best location, but nice Hotel. Staff is very friendly, especially Melissa and Zena. My main complaint is no coffee maker in the room. We requested one, and were denied. Zena was always good about getting my coffee for me in the lobby. Thanks again

Wieder einmal ein toller Aufenthalt im Hotel. Schönes, großes Zimmer. Neben der eigenen Hotel-Garage gibt es in fußläufiger Entfernung weitere gute Parkmöglichkeiten. Die Lage im Medienhafen ist toll und man erreicht verschiede Restaurants nach einem kurzem Spaziergang.

Ich bin immer wieder gerne zu Gast. Ich mag die großen Zimmer und den tollen Service. Zudem ist es für mich wichtig, dass das Badezimmer wirklich als eigener Raum mit Türe vom Zimmer abgetrennt ist und nicht, wie in anderen Hotels, einfach ein "Glaskasten" mit Dusche und Toilette in einer Ecke des Zimmers montiert wurde. So ein vollverglastes Bad gefällt mir weder vom Design her noch fühle ich mich wohl, wenn man vom Zimmer aus direkt ins Bad durchs Glasscheiben reinschauen kann und ich der Begleitung bei der Nutzung zuschauen kann bzw. man mir zuschauen kann.

Foyer area has limited facilities. Gym is really poor with old running machines with either broken or damaged belts & is hot / humid. WiFi had issues for the first few hours on arrival

Pay no attention to other reviews that are bashing this hotel.

The location was the only thing that was a bit of a challenge for us, but we always fly to Germany to visit our sons and we always rent a car .
We were going to stay in Köln, but it was much more expensive .
We are so pleased that we stayed .
Every detail was perfect. The rooms were immaculate. You do have to ask for towels and bedding changed, etc. but we always leave a tip on the pillow and requested the front desk and they were always accommodating..
A very nice bar -the outside dining does not have a view, but the weather was incredible so it didn’t really matter.
Parking of course in Europe is very difficult so we had a very small rental car, but we did choose to Uber to the things we needed to go and see and the places we wanted to dine .
With that being said , Rama, saw us every day. I’m not sure what his position was, but he seemed to always be there so we joked that he needed to have his own room. Anytime we needed anything he was always around and was so kind and helpful..
Breakfast buffet UNREAL-I know this is an American chain, but usually breakfast buffets that are included or horrible. This perhaps is one of the biggest and extensive freshest and fantastic breakfast we have ever had whilst traveling anywhere.
There is a chef preparing omelettes, fresh squeezed, orange juice, a proper German Frühstück-waffles, pancakes, fruit, oatmeal sausage, bacon everything you could possibly imagine Cappuccino. Smoothie shots.!
Zeinab , she remembered my name after the very first warning and we were only there for three days. I was so shocked.. one morning. I was too tired and forgot my juice and she walked over and fresh squeezed at herself. I cannot say enough about this property would definitely stay there again.-I truly prepare to take mass transit or drive but again in Europe it’s just not as easy because there is no parking. It was very quiet and everything was wonderful. All I can say is bravo to a fantastic property reasonably priced and a terrific team.!

We had an excellent experience during our stay at the Courtyard by Marriott in Düsseldorf, and a fundamental part of that was the service provided by Zeinad Hamoud. From the very beginning, Zeinad was kind, attentive, and always with a smile. Her manner was warm, professional, and very approachable, making every visit to the hotel restaurant truly enjoyable. Her dedication and the care with which she attended to each guest were evident. She is someone who truly makes a difference in the service. Thank you, Zeinad, for your kindness and for making our stay even more special!

Goed hotel top ligging

I will start saying that this hotel has an AWESOME CUSTOMER SERVICE, Evita, Amal, Elena and the rest of the from desk team and the people in the restaurant made my stay very comfortable, I was so comfortable there that after Amsterdam, I when back to the Courtyard Dusseldorf Hafen, great view near everything in walking distance.
I travel everywhere as a pilot for work and pleasure, I will be back to this hotel anytime the I am in Germany 🇩🇪. 👍🏽

Great stay for 1 night on business

a lovely place

This is a great option in Dusseldorf. Staff are excellent and very friendly. Have stayed here 3 or 4 times and always good. It’s outside the city centre but only 5-10 mins to the Altstadt. Also great value and has all the facilities you need, good bar, riverside too, nice breakfast, gym, taxis outside. Recommended!

Stopped here several times. Excellent property, Excellent service

The location is great, this was my second time stayiong at this establishment....last time being 2016 if i remember correctly. The area is a lot more built up now with more buildings accross the hotel. Staff were great and there is on occasions evening entertainment. The rooms arent the biggest however good size for a cit hotel.

Safe and quiet place, good hospitality.

Got to the hotel to be told that there was no room for me as the previous guest had failed to check out. Instead I was sent to another Marriott about 15 minutes away. Not really that convenient.
Having said that, the replacement hotel (Marriot Seestern) was nice and the process was handled quite smoothly: A taxi was organised and in the meantime I was given a drink and offered to take snacks from the "market" free of charge. When I arrived at the replacement hotel they knew I was coming and were very apologetic. So not ideal, but they did as well as they could given the circumstances.

No hot water in the room for 4 days of my stay.
Apart from this - no other issues. Had a great stay.
