We had a wonderful time here. The staff was polite, helpful, and attentive. The rooms were clean and spacious. The resort was beautiful and relaxing. The food and drinks at the Rhum shack were delicious.
We loved Hopkins Bay Resort! The grounds are beautiful, the rooms spacious, the view incredible, and the staff is top notch. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. Special mention for restaurant server Michelle and bartender Grover! Also, the food was very good everywhere, especially at the resort.
We loved the opportunity to just grab bikes and ride into town. We also rented the resort golf cart (they have several available) for a couple of hours and rode around in the town. Hopkins Village feels very safe. We walked to and from dinner/drinks in the dark and felt fine. One day we took a day trip to Thatch Caye for some peaceful beach time and snorkeling. Very lovely over there. This is a great resort, in an excellent location. We will definitely be back!
Stayed here for 5 days in two 3 bedroom villas with a group of 10 people and it was so relaxing! The resort is very quiet and peaceful and it's great waking up right on the water everyday! We ate a lot of our meals at Rhum Shack and Embers, the restaurant next door. I'm already looking at dates to come back later this year! Will definitely stay again!
We rented a car at the Belize City Airport (Avis, a breeze!) and drove the hour and 45 minutes to the resort. We WILL Return!!! We had the best 6 days there, the staff was great, the grounds were beautiful, everyone and everything left us with a happy and satisfied feeling. Special shout out to Michelle, King, Wilbur, Shaquille, and others who's names I sadly have lost, they were part of the incredible crew at The Rhum Shack. We ate breakfast there every morning and they did have a nice selection. We ate a few lunches and dinners there as well and they were very good.
Huge shout out to Jessica, the activities/excursions planner. She knows her job well, she represents Belize well, and she pulled a magic trick to get us on an excursion that we had to change dates on due to conflict.
We had a second-floor studio with a huge balcony from which we could see the Caribbean (#501). It was lovely and comfortable. Very clean as well. A real coffee maker was in the room, not a Nespresso or Keurig. Much appreciated!
I wish I had caught the housekeeper's name! She was amazing and worked her rear off when the resort was full.
Our stay was amazing! The location in Hopkins great easy walk or drive to restaurants. The resort was meticulously maintained including beach, grounds and pools. Felt safe at all times with nicely lit walkways and villas. Our rooms were generously sized and spotless! We enjoyed the pool and beach everyday. Food and drink at the Rum Shale were deliciously. All staff from arrival to housekeeping to grounds to Rum Shack were welcoming and helpful!! We are already planning our next trip back and highly recommend.
From the villa rooms, to the perfectly kept grounds, to waterfront views, to the delicious food, to the first-class staff…you can’t ask for much more!! Our stay here was perfect!! We had Michelle as our server most of the time and she was beyond wonderful!! Don’t hesitate on staying here.
Hopkins Bay Resort was perfect for us!! We loved the location- our house was right on the beach, with the resort located just outside of town. We ate most of our meals at the Rhum Shack restaurant- great food and friendly staff. We used the kayaks and the pool, loved it all! We would definitely like to return!
This beachfront hotel was everything we could have wanted. A beautiful upstairs studio with a balcony overlooking the Caribbean Sea. The rooms were nothing very special but there were some great touches, a fifty litre fresh water dispenser, ground coffee with a percolator with small proper milk cartons!!
The breakfast was more than adequate and there were nearby places to walk to for dinner.
The staff were friendly and helpful, so all round this was a perfect mid-range hotel.
We stayed here for a week with our 2 adult children and a 1 year old. We had a 2 bedroom unit. It was perfect for all we needed. This is a very quiet location which we enjoyed. The Rum Shack has GREAT people working there as well as the food was delish. They offer lots of excursions. Everything was very clean. I feel the price was a great value for what this resort has to offer.
Our 3-bedroom villa at Hopkins Bay was the PERFECT location for our couples/friends getaway. The view out our windows was stunning and pristine. While lounging poolside, staff were friendly, helpful and attentive. We enjoyed using the paddleboards and kayaks before the heat of the day, and eating at the Rhum Shack. Staff at the registration desk were very helpful in the day-to-day and setting up last minute excursions. Thank you for such a lovely trip - we will be back for sure, next time with our 3 kids!
We had the best time at Hopkins Bay Resort! The facilities were wonderful, we loved our excursions, and the food was AH-mazing!! Big shout out to Michelle and Wilbur, and really all the staff, for being so hospitable and making our stay perfect. We will be back!! PS thanks for the karaoke:)
Quiet area of the town. Beautiful. Loved the bikes and kayaks
The atmosphere cannot be beat! Our beachfront villa was the perfect spot to enjoy our morning coffee, so a little Pilates on the deck, and watch the magnificent sunrises! The pool was a favorite for my family-deep enough for fun swimming and an ocean view. Don’t miss out on getting a Swedish massage at the open-air spa-so relaxing! On-site restaurant was good-order ahead for any early morning adventures.
Tip: bring coconut oil to layer underneath your bug spray-the sand flies are no joke!
Great beach, gorgeous pools, wonderful staff
The sand flies
Our family of grandparents, our daughter and husband and our two granddaughters ages 5 and 7 had the best time ever at Hopkins Bay Resort. Our 2 bedroom ,2 bathroom villa was roomy and comfortable for everybody. The beautiful beach and pool lay right in front of us. We loved the kayaks and paddle boards. The water was calm and perfect for our young children who soon knew their way around. We could have prepared meals at the full kitchen but instead enjoyed the excellent great food at both onsite restaurants. Best of all was the quiet, peaceful atmosphere and friendly and helpful staff from the front desk to the servers to the grounds keepers. Did I mention how clean and immaculate the pool and grounds were? So much more to praise about this special place, like the free bikes to go into town and more. Would definitely go back.
From the moment we pulled through the gates through the rest of our stay, we experienced the best service possible. The staff went above and beyond to ensure our visit was as smooth and enjoyable. Everyone made it a point to remember our names and always greeted us with a smile and asked if we need anything. Chavis, who works in the restaurant, especially went above and beyond to ensure we had a hot meal ready after the kitchen was closed when we got back from our excursions.
Most of the guests we talked with were on their third or fourth visit to the resort - clearly showing that it is worthy to make a regular vacation spot. I fully plan on returning to Belize and staying here again.
Resort was GREAT! Low key and relaxing. The Rhum Shack was fantastic with great food and even better service. We made fast friends with Michelle and Wilbur who made sure we never left hungry or thirsty. The food was so good we didn’t need to venture out of the resort too much. Hopkins is safe and the folks are very friendly. Definitely plan on a return trip.
Location - On the coast two hours from Belize city. Small hotel with approx 20 rooms/apartments it looked like 1 bed rooms upstairs and bigger apartments below.
Room - Our room was upstairs with a large king size bed with plenty of room. Light & airy with beach glimpse views via landscaped gardens. There was a coffee making machine & plenty of storage/luggage storage. En-suite shower room with 2 sinks, the shower pressure was a little low.
Food - The food was of excellent quality especially the evenings which was really well presented. Lots of choices & a specials board at both lunch and evening meal. Food took time however with an hour wait frequently in the evenings. Care with sandflies, staff will light a coil on request but are not proactive with it.
Facilities - On a long attractive tree lined beach. Free paddle boarding and kayaking (2 person kayak only) on the beachfront and good walks in both directions one way down to Hopkins village. Sea close to river so not clear waters. Free cycles to village. Free entertainment on a Friday & Saturday including great local drumming.
Service - The service was really good - staff were welcoming during the day & eve from the beach, gardeners, bar & restaurant staff. Special thanks to King, Chavis, Adalma, Michelle, Shaquille and Joseph. However on arrival at reception desk we felt we were ‘processed’ rather than be given the Belizean welcome & our room was delayed in being ready.
Overall we were really happy with our choice here we stayed here for six nights and would certainly if returning to Belize come here again.
From the moment Velene welcomed us until we sadly had to leave after 2 weeks; this resort is phenomenal. Everyone treated us like family. No matter which villa you are in it’s a great view of the water. Housekeeping kept the rooms spotless every day. The restaurant has a great selection of food and drinks for any meal; the entire wait staff are so attentive, Shaq and Wilbur are great behind the bar and make the best coconut mojito.
Kira and Janelle give the best facials and massages as you listen to the small waves come to shore.
Lastly, Teo keeps the entire resort running like a well oiled machine and always a smile on his face. I cannot say anything but good about this resort. If peace and quiet with plenty of day excursions is what you’re looking for, this is the place for you.
