Nice hotel with good breakfast and comfortable room. We had a family meal in the restaurant which was very good.
Location
Interior a little tired
On site parking, lovely fresh decor in bedroom and bathroom, beautiful bright restaurant, very kind staff.
They definitely need a new toaster on the breakfast bar!
Food was excellent. Great choice for breakfast.
Only that our room was at the back of hotel and noisy from vents from early morning.
The location was superb, couldn't fault it.
I think they list their breakfast as superb or exceptional, so I had high expectations. The reality was that it was 'nice' - it had a super small light buffet, consisting of toast, granola and cereals, and then you order from a menu of hot breakfasts, which was cooked very freshly (that was the best part).
Food and dining room excellent,as was the service and sustinence availability.
Bedding (matress and pillows )very hard. Room had a draughty window, bathroom floor needs replacing (loud creaking at .every step). Howver all very clean.
The room was very clean and had everything you need , lovely hand written note from house keeping on the note pad which I think is a lovely touch . the bath was deep , and the toiletries included smelt devine!! And the comfiness of the bed and pillows was second to none!
Location and room were good.
Sparse staff and breakfast wasn’t great.
Set on top of the hill you can see it was once a very grand hotel. Lovely view of tunbridge from.my room and ideal location. Room was large as was bathroom and comfortable large bed.. Clean and tidy. Dog friendly in most of it. Staff were lovely and the food was excellent. I had the venison both nights as so nice. The sweets were very tasty. Breakfast was very nice and restaurant area was very nice.
Value for money was excellent.
Not sure if the same in all larger rooms as photos show showers also, but I had a roll top bath with shower above which felt a bit cramped and would be difficult for some to get into. Personally given the size of bathroom a big walk in shower would have been much nicer. Room was large and clean but colour scheme (an off white slightly grey) just felt a bit depressing. Could do with a warmer colour and maybe feature wall.
The only thing that irked me a bit on first night was that I had booked a table the week before and said with dog. They didn't mention dogs were not allowed in restaurant area so I had to sit in bar area. Whilst I accept most hotels have same rule. The bar area I had to sit in didn't feel as nice. Tables and chairs felt a bit shabby which considering I am paying the same for food and extra for dog was a shame. The restaurant was almost empty maybe exception when empy could be made.
The second night I reserved the table at the back of bar which has a more cosy feel to it but only one table there the rest is sofas.
The staff where lovely. Loved the hotel and the food in restaurant was excellent. My friend said it was the best homemade pie she’s ever had.
Nothing. Loved it. Definitely going again.
The hotel was brilliant, the staff on reception were very accommodating
Our room was comfortable and well maintained
