The room was in need of decoration as some child had draw on the wall. The bathroom sink did not drain away properly and

Whilst making the booking with booking dot com I was not advised that the lift had been out of order for months. I was assigned a room on the 3rd floor when I asked what was the contingency plan for someone with a heart condition I was assigned a room on the second floor!!!!This was a problem moving luggage to the room with no help from the staff.

Cheap and clean but not sure I’d stay there again.
Pros:

Room was clean and tidy. Friendly staff in the ‘pub’ attached at the front of the of the hotel.

Cons:

Quite a run down hotel and the car park was being dug up at the time. The reception was dingy and the staff were scruffily dressed. Didn’t feel particularly comfortable as a woman travelling on her own.

I didn't stay there myself. I booked the room for a colleague and this is their experience:
Pretty much everything in my room was broken, had mystery stains, was dirty/unclean and/or had other people's hair stuck to/in it.

The hotel lift had also been out of action since 2024 and when I asked for a room on the 1st floor (I've got a knee injury that makes stairs difficult for me) I was told the only available room lacked curtains.

The stairs themselves were a trip hazard because the carpet had pulled away from the steps.

In short, I struggled to sleep

Pros:

I would like to express my absolute delight and write a highly positive review for this wonderful hotel. While the property itself is currently undergoing ongoing renovations to improve everything as much as possible, the level of cleanliness here is absolutely incredible, to the point where it is so spotlessly clean that it feels almost unbelievable. The entire staff team is exceptionally welcoming, friendly, and kind. They are incredibly warm-hearted, attentive, and more than happy to answer any questions with genuine goodwill and professionalism. I am deeply grateful for their hard work and for such a comfortable, pleasant stay during their improvement process.

The hotel location is good and I am pleased with the staff but the hotel needs proper maintenance refurbishing

The location is good and the staff are helpful

Cons:

The room carpet not properly cleaned. The shower hot water not running as the water pressure too low and I have to use bucket to get hot water from the tap to take my shower.
