Great check in. Atmosphere suited my needs. I came to attend a funeral. I enjoyed the comfortable quiet atmosphere. The staff were helpful and patient. The fire alarm was well handled. I would like to return. I can see why this club has reciprocal arrangements with my club in Australia.
Lovely and very centric place. Totally recommend.
Great attention, very clean and comfortable rooms.
Loved it. Steeped in military history and memrobilia. Immaculate as you would expect. A hidden gem as i just booked last minute. Very close to everything in Edinburgh.
I organised our company end of year catch up and Christmas party here. They helped with everything I needed and also with the last minute items I requested. The room we were allocated and viewed originally were perfect for what we needed and the use of the additional room in the afternoon really helped our event.
The Christmas party part of the evening was very well organised and the food was great. We had our own Ceilidh which the room was perfect for.
There were a couple of overnight stays and the rooms were beautiful, individual and clean. Breakfast was also very varied and tasty.
Thanks again for a great night.
Clean room, friendly staff, historic setting in a great location. Walkable to prince's street and the royal mile while being far enough away to remain a quiet area. We were able to watch the NYE fireworks over the castle from our hotel room window. Staff was super friendly and accommodating. Room was clean and comfortable with a soft bed, modern bathroom, and wonderful oversized window looking toward the city.
A mid-size but spacious hotel in in an historic building located in Edinburgh’s New Town. Slightly off the beaten track but has the advantage of fewer tourists in the streets outside. Stayed here many times before and it remains highly recommended and I will use again. Good evening meal and breakfast and the bedroom was great. Bedrooms are of a reasonable size, and the beds are most comfortable. There is a good collection of public spaces with ample armchairs and places to relax.
This is the place to stay when visiting Edinburgh. Walking distance (or short bus ride) from the main streets of New Town, but in a quiet neighborhood. The staff is friendly and attentive, and the accommodations are excellent. You also get to enjoy a little history and old fashioned hospitality.
Retirement lunch. Six of us in total. Food excellent, staff friendly. Even reserved an area in the bar/lounge for us to be able to sit together pre lunch. Just a quality experience in a unique setting. Thank you..
Easily a 5 star experience. The location is convenient, the staff are wonderful, and the hotel is beautiful and historic. The charm of this place is unbeatable and the value is more than worth it. I will always consider the Royal Scots Club first for Edinburgh accommodations.
Had a lovely stay although slightly expensive , would stay again. Good location , near to main town centre and train station.
We stayed here for three nights over a weekend.
Plenty of pluses. It's a lovely period building with grand public and private members rooms. Excellent location on the southern side of the New Town so easy to get around the city centre on foot and handy for the St Andrew's Square tram stop, that'll take you to the airport. We were staying on a reciprocal members basis, and so decent value. Good sized room, pleasant and clean, at the back of the hotel, so no traffic noise. Helpful front desk staff.
A couple of minuses. Our room was really noisy not only from footfall and creaking floorboards in neighbours' rooms but strange loud periodic crashing and banging sounds - maybe furniture being moved around - or a herd of migrating elephants roaming across the central Edinburgh plain? Plus, there was the noise from the row of giant fans outside the window! Additionally, we were let down badly by the restaurant staff. We arrived not even five minutes late (delayed flight) for our 8:30 dinner reservation to be told we were too late and our reservation was cancelled! Unbelievable. The front desk staff pleaded on our behalf but to no avail. (Fortunately, we ate at the first rate Magnum restaurant, just down the road, and which I'd heartily recommend).
So, for us, staying here was a mixed bag but I feel that a hotel should deliver on the basics, which is to provide a good night's sleep - and sadly that's not what we got at the Royal Scots Club.
This is venue steeped in history and tradition which only adds to your experience. The staff and facilities are excellent and the location makes it easy to access all the main areas of the city. It is an ideal location if you are going the theatre, you can dine and stay overnight and it's a pleasant walk to Edinburgh Playhouse.
the perfect place for the one night we had free in Edinburgh. Great service - clean (but small) rooms and very reasonably priced. And an easy walk from all the sights and restaurants. Would definitely stay again.
Wonderful old hotel. Clean and friendly.
Room was large & clean
A spectacular venue, well worth visiting. Staff were very welcoming, pleasant and friendly. The accommodation was excellent.
Loved it!
Nice historical building. Enjoyed our stay.
It was a short walk from the city centre. The room was beautiful and authentically Scottish. The room was whisper-quiet with the window closed—a gorgeous spot and highly recommended.
Our room was great and the staff super helpful and friendly
