Friendly staff; good menu; super facilities.
Awful sleep!!! Woke up at 3am by someone in the adjacent room snoring?! Awful insulation and have never experienced this before.
Place was nice
Price,my friend had the same room for 70 euros cheaper, didn't like that and I think that money should be refunded
The location of the property was only a short drive from the town centre, but the restaurant and bar onsite meant that we chilled out in the evening there instead of venturing into Ennis town. There was a lovely atmosphere around especially with all the children and young families I found there was a lovely mix of all age groups which was great! The food was absolutely stunning and the staff were lovely!
In terms of the room I do feel the bathroom could do with a bit of upgrading. The sink was cracked as were tiles on the floor. The room itself was lovely however the mattresses were very hard. The family room we had was a bit tight for space however it did us fine.
highly recommended if you are driving north from Shannon airport and you want a great place to stay
I just want to share the amazing experience we had here at this hotel me my wife and 3 kids stayed for 2 nights. Hotel was spotless the staff were amazing and a special mention to Jason behind the bar and 2 girls on reception when we booked I think Holly and Lorraine. Kids club fantastic my boys had an amazing time and we are already booked back in for the mid term in October.
Chambres spacieuses et dispose d’une grande piscine et d’une grande salle de fitness. Le personnel est très aimable.
It was fine and needed an overnight stay. Unfortunately the mattress on the single bed was very uncomfortable. Everything else was ok. The staff were excellent and friendly
Location.
Beds not made properly sheets hanging out and bunks didnt seem clean. Only 2 sets of towels for 4 guests..we left after 2nd night because it wasn’t comfortable and I didn’t think it value for money I spent!!!!
The back bar where the pool tables were
The pool area was run down the breakfast was shit definitely no worth the price the room was not like it was shown online the place was very rundown..
Pool, darts and golf were fun
Everything is old and rickety. The bathrooms are very dated and broken/failing. The bunkbed was loud and rickety, feeling like it was about to break. Beds were uncomfortable, pillows flat and hard and not enough of. I couldn’t phone reception because the phone first of all was disconnected, when I connected it there was no dial tone!
Couldn’t get food after 9pm as the kitchen was closed!
For a busy hotel, it was quiet at night. Little to no noise from outside and neighbouring rooms.
Bar food was not good and very over priced. Did not eat in the restaurant after this so cant comment. Drinks service poor, no gin glasses, served gin in a wine glass, no straws at bar. Decor very shabby and out dated. Furniture is old and dirty. Walls and stairwells need painting. Room also needs updating, two sockets not working and not enough sockets in room, fan broken, chain on room door and bathroom door lock broken. Stain on carpet. Hairs found in room. Cobwebs and spiders in room. Bed linen bobbly and needs replacing. Not enough pillows provided and ones that were there were flat and very uncomfortable. Bath mat dirty and bath side panel flaking, ceiling in room paint flaking off. Generally not cleaned to an acceptable standard. Vending machine on corridor not refilled. Grounds around hotel and carpark not kept well, need to be cleaned up.
Room was 26deg with 2 kids it was so uncomfortable no one slept got a fan it was useless..asked to b moved next morning we did get a cooler room but overall it took from our break away
In June-July this year, we had a wonderful 7-day trip called the Grand Tour of Ireland, during which we stayed in six different hotels. One of them was a beautiful 4-star hotel in Tralee - The Rose Hotel; others were less luxurious but quite nice 3-star hotels. However, when we arrived in Ennis and entered Treacys West County Hotel, it became clear that the rating is hugely inflated. It's a very big hotel in need of a total renovation. It definitely looks like they haven't done any work on this hotel for at least twenty years. I worked in the hotel business for 18 years in different European countries, so I know what I'm talking about.
Yet, that is not the reason I’ve decided to write this review. The reason was the attitude of some of the staff of the Treacys Hotel. We arrived at the hotel on 1 July after a very long and wonderful drive from Donegal with several stops, and all of us were very tired but excited to go and watch England's second World Cup game against DR Congo. A few of the group decided to meet at the bar and watch the game on a big screen, but most people, including me and my friend, wanted to watch it while relaxing in our rooms. We already knew which Irish channels broadcast the games. To my disappointment, those channels were not available on the TV set in our room. I went to the reception to ask them how to get one of those channels, and the young receptionist promised to send someone to help us. A technician came and tried for about 20 minutes to download new channels, but could not find them. In the meantime, the game already started. We went back to the reception, where I was told by the same receptionist that she couldn’t change our room as they were fully booked and that to change our TV set she had to talk to the manager. While she was telling me all that, another person approached us. She didn’t introduce herself, but I assumed that she was a manager, because she heard what the receptionist was telling me and started talking to me with real authority. She said that there were no vacant rooms and even if there were, it would not help me as none of the rooms received the required channel (RTÉ One – the main TV channel in Ireland!), and suggested that to watch the game I go either to the bar or another room where a couple of people were playing pool. When I asked why it was impossible to have that channel in the rooms, she said that the owner of the hotel himself set the system like that (!), and there was nothing they could do to help me.
By that time, I had no energy or any wish to listen to more of the nonsense this lady was giving me or to argue with them, so I decided to return to our room and watch the game on my iPad. Just as I was approaching our room, I met another tourist from our group. She told me that her husband was watching the game in their room, but she decided to go for a walk. I went back with her to the reception. They saw us approaching, and before I had time to say anything, the ‘manager’ said that she just found out (!) that in one of the rooms (!) they could install that channel. She said, ‘Give me 10-15 minutes, I’ll come and tell you which room you can move to.’ By the time she came and gave us a key to a room two doors away from our room, the first part of the game finished. She put the TV on, and we could see that it (of course!) had RTÉ One. Then she turned to us and said, ‘Now we need to find somebody to come and clean your room again.’ I felt very sorry for her and was ready to suggest that my friend and I could do it after the game was over. ))
It is a shame that not all the personnel in that hotel are properly trained in how to sort out various situations that constantly take place in hotels, how they must not talk in a patronising way to their guests, and show more respect to them. And most importantly, that they should never lie to their guests and feed them with such rubbish. Later that night, the same ‘manager’ was helping in serving our dinner, but this time she avoided looking me in the eyes…
The location
They scheduled construction below our room without telling us. The week previously to this we also stayed and they turned off the hot water
We had another fantastic stay at the hotel and, as always, everything was great from start to finish. The food in the bar was really good and we really enjoyed our meals. The whole stay was lovely and relaxing, and we couldn't have asked for more.
Kids club is brilliant and the girls there always look after our boys so well.
A special mention has to go to Helena, who as always goes above and beyond for us. We always feel so well looked after when we stay here.
Another brilliant stay and we are already looking forward to coming back again!
Hotel was in a great location food was good facilities were good lots for the kids to do . Found close to everything we wanted to do . The swimming pool the kids enjoyed it .
