Pros:

It is not "Grand" any longer, but still quite decent hotel. Staff is very friendly, rooms are bit worn out but clean. Breakfast selection is very basic and poor, generic continental breakfast.

Great first time at this hotel, would definitely return
Pros:

Lovely week at this hotel, staff were friendly and the place was very relaxed. Nice not to have to fight for tables or sun loungers and the free bus into sorrento is very useful.
Our room was a good size with beautiful views over the bay and Vesuvius.
It’s a nice walk into st agata which is a charming little village. We found mornings in the village very hectic and busy with vehicles but afternoon onwards it’s lovely and quiet. Just meandering through the side streets was a real joy, felt like a real taste of Italy and great to just sit and unwind and watch the world go by.
I would happily stay here again.

The Perfect Getaway
Pros:

My husband and I I have just returned home after our second stay at the Grand Hermitage hotel. We visited last August 2025 and we have returned again to stay in the Villa Romita.
This is such a special place. If you want a peaceful, tranquil holiday this hotel will not fail to provide that. It is situated high above fabulous Sorrento with views of the bay of Naples and Vesuvius that are absolutely breathtaking. The hotel and villa are nestled in natural, unspoiled gardens filled with lemon, fig, plum and pine trees. Through the private gardens you can walk to the lovely little village of Sant Agata. There are a number of restaurants, bars and shops surrounding their beautiful church and at night it’s a lovely area for an after dinner walk.
The hotel and villa are traditionally furnished and decorated and are kept spotlessly clean. The owner William, his daughter Gloria and his nephew Renato go above and beyond to make sure that you’re happy. The head waiter Salvatore and all of his staff are very attentive and provide a hands on service that is perfect, we can’t praise them enough. There is a good breakfast buffet and the evening menu has an excellent 3 course choice. The food is good quality, well cooked and beautifully presented.
If you want a holiday where music is blasting at the pool, daily activities, entertainment and a kids club with the disco and bingo in the evening this hotel is definitely not for you. But if you want to travel around and sight see all of the wonderful places the Sorrento peninsula and Amalfi coast has to offer a stay at the Grand Hermitage Hotel is just the perfect place to stay.
Looking forward to seeing you all in the near future and THANK YOU for another amazing stay.

Exceptional
Pros:

We have just returned from our first stay at this wonderful hotel just outside Sorrento in the beautiful small town of Sant ‘Agata and we honestly couldn’t have asked for a better holiday.

The hotel was immaculate throughout – everything was spotlessly clean, from the rooms to the communal areas. Our room was comfortable, well maintained, and the air conditioning was excellent, which made a huge difference in the summer heat.

The food was great with a set menu in the evening with 4 choices of starter and main course, always a vegetarian option for me and the service was outstanding. What really made our stay so special, though, was the staff. Every single member of the team was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and they always went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. Special mention to the General Manager Renato, Tony who was on hand at the pool area during the day and Bar in the evening, and Sal in the restaurant, nothing was to much trouble and service was always amazing!

We had a fantastic holiday from start to finish and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing stay in Italy. We will definitely be returning. Thank you to everyone for making our first visit so memorable!

Wow what a view !
Pros:

Wow the best thing about this hotel was the incredible view. I still think about it now. All of the staff were so friendly and were helpful if you needed them. Our room was spotless. We loved the blue and yellow tiles - absolutely stunning.

A couple of bits of feedback - would be great if shuttle bus ran until 10pm. Guests are reserving sunbeds from 7.00am onwards and then going off somewhere - not sure what the hotel can do about this. Breakfast was a lot of sweet options - an omelette station would be great. This is just a personal preference and not a complaint

Overall we absolutely loved the hotel and would definitely return 😊😊😊

A Gem in Italy
Pros:

We stayed at the Hermitage Hotel in June, it was part of a tour package and we can honestly say this was the best Hotel we have ever stayed in, and we have stayed in quite a few around the world.
The location was excellent, beautiful views across Sorrento and the Bay, far enough away from the hectic busy Sorrento but close enough to be able get there in 20 minutes.
The staff were so friendly and helpful, the food was perfect, the room was fantastic, air conditioning was excellent, the views from the balcony were amazing.
A 5 minute walk and you are in the local town of Sant’ Agata which we spent a lot of our spare time there. Very quiet and peaceful town.
We will definitely be returning here again if we are lucky enough to be visiting this area again.

Fabulous family run hotel!
Pros:

Fabulous family-run hotel, set in the hillside behind Sorrento, which can be accessed regularly via the hotel’s free shuttle service. A 10 minute walk on a private path behind the hotel gets you to the village of Sant Agata which is a decent size with a supermarket, restaurants and bars.
All of the staff are amazing - a few get regular shout outs and rightly so - but every member of staff will go out of their way for you. As a party of 11, the restaurant staff made sure they always had a table set up for us on an evening. Dinner is a relaxed sit-down affair and you don’t have to rush to get a table. We really enjoyed the ‘calorie free’ dessert trolley. The team were also happy to accommodate a fussy eater with food from their lunch menu. Drinks are very reasonably priced. (If you have leftover wine - I personally don’t know what that is - the team will save your bottle for the next evening.)
Staff were really helpful with organising a trip to Pompei for us and a mini bus (outside of shuttle bus service times) to get 11 of us to the port for a boat trip. With 24hrs notice, they also organised a birthday cake for a special birthday.
Our room (511 top floor) was spacious and very clean. The furniture is solid and has a nice authentic feel to it. There was plenty of storage space in the wardrobe with enough hangars.
The management team keep a close on everything, remember your name and room - this personal touch makes you feel really welcome. Whilst it wasn’t massively busy, they do keep an eye out on towels on sunbeds too to make sure there’s always some available. The team were a lot of fun.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the hotel or stay here again - huge thanks, Jen

Home away from home except with A VIEW!
Pros:

I’ve just returned from a weeks stay at The Grand Hermitage (sadly, I didn’t want to leave).

The location was perfect for me. Quiet, peaceful with a stunning view of the Bay and Vesuvius. Sorrento is easily accessible via the shuttle bus (free for hotel guests) and only a 15-20minute journey with again, stunning views all the way there. Shuttle arrives and leaves on time every single day. Booking is required (easy, simple) and journeys are available at specific times, which are provided on check in.

Sant Agata is a short walk via the accessible and beautiful little pathway next to the hotel. It’s a lovely little town with bars, restaurants, shops and the best family run gelateria you’ll find! I personally preferred Sant Agata over Sorrento for its authenticity and real, Italian feel.

Same goes with the hotel itself. It’s chosen to keep its genuine, Italian decor which I found homely and comforting over the clinical feel of some hotels. I settled in and slept amazing from day 1, as it felt like “home.”

I didn’t have a room with a bay view, however I didn’t need one, there’s a stunning view from the pool area and the viewing terrace! It’s amazing to watch the sunset from with a drink. I loved the genuine decor of the rooms, plenty of room, cleaned daily and great shower and bed.

I was half board and breakfast was plentiful and delicious. Yoghurt, eggs, bacon, toast, waffles, deli meats and cheeses, pastries, cereals, oats, milk, coffee, teas, fruit. Dinner was to die for every single day I was there! It’s a set menu each night but completely different every night. I never found something I couldn’t eat and I always left satisfied! More so!

The staff are what makes this hotel even more special! All very encouraging, welcoming, positive, attentive, considerate, helpful and generally contented. They create a wonderful atmosphere, where you feel at home, comforted and cared for.

I fell a little ill on my last night so was room bound :-( I didn’t get to say goodbye to anybody or thank you all so thank you to Bond (Pedro). Your work ethic is second to none, and I appreciate you accommodating my poor attempts at Italian!

Tony, welcomed me from my first night, was attentive, always with a smile on his face and again, challenged my Italian speaking skills. Thank you!

The “dessert” member of staff was amazing! He quickly became accustomed to my “sweet tooth” and accommodated for this without me having to ask. Thank you, I have now gained 3kg in cakes (no regrets) ;-)

The manager was always concerned with the contentment of the guests and did regular rounds to greet everybody and get to know his guests. Again, thank you for accommodating my Italian and your genuine care ;-)

I can’t wait to return here! Thank you all so much.

Pros:

We really enjoyed our stay, the room was clean, had beautiful views over the bay of Naples and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The property is about a 15 minutes drive from Sorrento and is in a much quieter and peaceful area near a village that has some lovely restaurants. A great base to explore Sorrento, Amalfi coast and Pompeii etc.

Cons:

A very small thing is that we wish the pool would stay open a little longer during the summer as it stays pretty hot until later.

Lovely hotel
Pros:

Fantastic hotel. Great quiet location up the hill but only a short shuttle bus ride to Sorrento. Walking distance to the small village of Sant Agata. Lovely pool, great views, decent food. The hotel is very clean with spacious rooms. The staff are so friendly and helpful. Special mention to the restaurant staff who went out of their way to accommodate one of our party who has dietary needs. Highly recommend.

Highly recommended
Pros:

This classic Italian family hotel offers a refreshing alternative to the often bland and homogenised package holiday experience. The location is superb wit fabulous views, the rooms clean and the food varied and consistently good. However, it was the staff that made this such a special holiday. A big thanks to them all, and especially Tony, for their warm welcome and kindness throughout our stay.

A special place special staff
Pros:

Another perfect visit to this wonderful family run hotel
The Hotel is all you would expect of an Italian hotel the staff and management team are it’s strong point , polite attentive and professional they ensure your stay is all you want.
The rooms are kept spotless by the excellent housekeeping team, the food is good and the bar and restaurant managed by our particular friend Salvatore
Gennaro will offer calorie free desserts (he assures us) while Roberta and our very good friend Tony will deliver the drinks in the bar try the lemonchello sprits it knock out (literally)
A big thank you to William our Host , Gloria so helpful advising and arranging trips and of course Renato again arranging and advising but also so approachable and visible in all areas making sure everything is fine and people are happy and of course all the excellent staff.
We have been many times to this great hotel it retains its heart and spirt as it develops and improves something the extraordinary number of return guest really appreciate.
